Snakes and spiders!!

Ok, we know there are several different types of rats in the zone because of their abilities to adjust quickly to changes in their suroundings. This being the case, then spiders and snakes should also be included in some form as they are high skilled in this area too.

I would love to some sort of gaint snake in the game and the zone in some ways is a good hunting ground for such type of predator. The game has many types of rats and we all know that rats are fast breeders, so what keeping the rats form taking over?

The answer must be a bigger form of predators that is feeding off the rats and keeping their numbers down just enough. In this role, a Bigger the normal snake would be a good idea because it is agile enough to track a rat down nearly anywhere they go. Also it would have to be pretty big because of rat wolves.

It would be pretty rare becasue of it small numbers, it would rarely get chance to breed and becase of its need to hunt alone. I think it would make a very scary foe to come across and the stalkers would have to look out for sign that it is nearby. Maybe shedded scales, fresh regutated bones, makes on the ground and lack of rat activety.

Just an idea !

I know snakes, but alas not ones in Russia and the likes so I am not sure. First off they wouldn't survive a cold spell very well, even down here the tiger is the only snake able to go to the south areas of Australia. But stalkers is set in autumn, so the cold hasn

Yeah, Snakes are cold blooded. I was thinking that the species in stalker had been created in a lab as part of what going on and can survie the cold because of the way they been altered. This way they could be a lot bigger then any normal snake and are big enough to constrict a stalker and eat him!!

I like the idea of the anti-vermon, a must for the smaller snakes

The biggest normal snakes can only eat human childern. The can get full grown adults our shoulders are to broad. Why would they makes snakes that could live in cold whether? Sounds like a plot for a "B" movie.

If I remember right from reading one of the offical stories, rats in this live in swarms. These swarms are able to take whole bases too. I cant see one snake being able to hunt rats.

I could see maybe the spiders though. I think if they did this instead of having the generic spider just wondering around maybe they should have Trap Door spiders. You could be walking along watching you scaner for life forms and you see a blip. You look at the area it should be and you dont see anything but, grass. You walk over to invest gate and wham the door opens and the spider attacks. You could make them like on of the zones. The warning signs are all the skeletons left in the little balls that the larger spider leave after eating mice.

Jis... guys! Have you ever tried to kill all this stupid litle stuff in a game? Remember Heretic 2 or Daicatana? running everywhere and biting you rats and spiders make game so stupid and unplayble and lost of atmosphere than nothing ever! You have to deal with rats not with the real danger and plot of the game... And you not feel as a hero... RATS, BATS AND SPIDERS ARE ONLY GOOD FOR MAKING AN IMPRESSION OF A LOST PLACE BUT NOT AS YOUR OPPONENTS!!! PLEASEE!!!
Like it was in Kiss psychocircuss where they were not biting you. But flying groups of bats made a good impression.

Have you read through what we keep saying, the smaller ones, normal ones, would NOT be your enemys. They would be creatures that are just there and aside from populour belief a snake or spider WILL NOT attack you outright. Most will flee if they know your there, remember they can't see you just something huge towering over them. Still you have to watch your step, walking into a poisoness spiders web would make it bite you in defence, stepping on a snake like wise.

These animals wouldn't be enemys and rush to kill you, but they would be out there and if your not carful you can be bitten.

ok... so I hope you agre with me that fighting with all this small stuff is hmmm... even bad idea for simple shooters not only for stalker.
Yes big creatures like mutated dogs or bears or packs of wolves - yeah... really scaring and if you see them beeing ugly changed with lots of rankling wounds it gives really nice impression. However I wouldn't believe in big spiders or huge rats. It is too much a B movie... How do you think?

if I came across a tiny snake I wouldn't even waste the bullets, afterall it's not going to hurt you. But a mutent spider the size of someones torso (before limbs are added) might be something to watch out for in the shadows of ruined buildings no?

Do I really need to force you to watch "The Giant Spider in the Well!!!" (Yes, it did have three exclamation marks). Don't over do the 50s Cheese.
