I think we've seen a glimpse of the inventory in the clans and tradeing videos. The STALKER goes up to another STALKER and they trade. A screen that look like the inventory comes up.

What's realistic opposed to what's necessary from a practical gameplay standpoint are often very different.

Main weapon plus instantly accessible sidearm seems sensible.
I guess a secondary consideration is how much ammo can be found in the field for your favourite weapon, who the expected opponents are on each mission & how much would be exhausted fighting off small creatures.

If players are stampeded by doggies or rats it's going to require something quick & immediate judging by the numbers in the demos.

Toting a VSS plus 15 shot pistol seems reasonable when skulking about looking for other stalkers but these may prove inadequate in a running street battle with a squad of soldiers so can the player pick up a fallen AK & use that to conserve VSS ammo whilst carrying his main gun over the shoulder using a strap ?

Has anyone actually seen the players inventory screen ?
---END QUOTATION---

Yes, there have been many screenshots of it.

And I think that the weight and bulk limitations may serve to adequately balance the possible weapon configurations, while allowing the players to decide what is important.

I think there should be a room for one secondary weapon and one primary weapon (a nice setup all around, you could have the standard, well-rounded warrior carrying any pistol and an assault rifle, the explosive expert carrying any pistol for fighting human enemies and a Bazooka to blow sh*t up, or the sniper carrying a sniper rifle for most encounters and a pistol for when the enemy gets the drop on him). 3 throwable weapon slots will also be available, and maybe a choice between 2 extra throwable weapon slots, an extra secondary weapon or a knife, for whether you want to go all out or be stealthy (I'm still hoping the stealth kills don't look as ridiculous as in the E3 2004 trailer), then there could be a 20-30 kg backpack for ammo and items {which I think will be upgraded with every newer, better backpack you earnbuyupgrade to (?)}.

What you can carry should depened on what you are wearing, not just defualt slots. for example a T-shirt and jeans would have a primary slot and 2 pocket slots. STALKER's inventory seems to work on "squares" with each item having its size represnted in squares (watch some movies, you'll see). so a pocket would have something like 4 squares, so you could put a 9mm in there. now if you put on a chem suit and belt or something you could fit stuff in the pockets, strap it on your back, or chuck it in a backpack. Stuff in the backpack would be accessed through the inventory screen, every thing would be numbered. just a few ideas.

about the weight well the army men carry about that 40kg depending of what rank class and popularity amongst others is (if you're unpopular be sure you will be carrying 3 times more than others)so 40kg i dont think thats too less because lets just imgaine situation"you're running away from a pack of rats with that 40kg on your back a protective armor suit which is not flexible and a gas mask on your face it will be good if you got the army training or if adrenaline is working very very fine on you but what if not????"

40 kg is pretty much. Not that it is making the stalker tired but imagine sprinting with a backpack like that. It is hard to run with all the extra weight because you are likely to trip and fall.

Wilmer: as I recall, weight is intended to be a signifigant factor in how fast
and how long you will be able to sprint.

Just wanted to remind people of the reality. I know tripping caused by overburdence would be stupid if implemented to a game.

I wasn't saying that you don't get more tired when having a heavy pack.

Oh, I did. Well, I meant that getting tired isn't the worst setback of having a huge load of death and food in your pack.

I wonder; will there be long term exhaustion? Like you would have to rest more if you carry more weight?

So you can't carry weapons in backpack?
