Intro texture files

Does anyone know if there's a scripting function that handles the intro texture files when loading levels? I'm talking about those mini images that are displayed when you switch levels in the load screen.

I'm trying to see if there's a way to tie in what intro image is loaded depending on certain criteria (so if you have a certain info portion, the image for that level might change etc.)

I know there's a way to make them cycle different images by using .seq files, but I was kind of intrigued by the system misery uses that displays messages instead of pictures of the level and was wondering if something similar would be possible with SoC.

Gamedata -> Textures -> Intro

And they aren't sequenced, there is a mod that adds 512x1024 HD sequenced images, but on slower pc's it will drastically increase loading times because it doesnt load the textures on loading levels well, because of the laggy input you get with loading the levels, unlike modern games like Crysis etc.

Cheers!

[EDIT]

Yes, Misery got that from my mod, PPx2 haha I used level descriptions as loading screens I can send em over with the template for you?

Yeah, I can edit the texture files pretty easily, I was just wondering what scripting function actually assigns each intro_*.dds file to that particular level, and if there was a way to add in more functions to change that based on certain criteria.

I have an idea for "Messages from the Monolith" as a motif for the loading screens in game, but I want it to be slightly more involved/cool by having specific infoportions that will load different textures for a level.

So, say if you transition from the Garbage to the Cordon normally it would display one texture, but if you were to use the same level changer once you have the info portion to find Guide then it would display a different texture/message.

I'm not sure if this is even possible or if it's just a pipe-dream of mine, but people have come up with some very creative stuff for these games so I'm not ruling it out completely.

That, I dont know Thunderfreak knows for sure, he made a mod where it changes the loading screen itself (the one "behind" the little ones) and made 3 of them. I use it myself

Try and PM him

For the basis of what LoNer1 is referring to: SetaKat posted some code indicating how to use get_fs():update_path(), file_delete() and file_copy() to change loadscreen files in this thread:

---QUOTATION---
"Changing Loadscreen", page 2:
https://www.gsc-game.com/main.php?t=community&s=forums&s_game_type=xr&thm_id=21095&sec_id=16&page=2#349718
---END QUOTATION---

Lijenstina posted some code from NLC for that, there, and mnn posted earlier info on get_fs():update_path() in this thread:

---QUOTATION---
"check if file exists by script":
https://www.gsc-game.com/main.php?t=community&s=forums&s_game_type=xr&thm_id=20888&sec_id=16&page=1#344272
---END QUOTATION---

That functionality could be used in the corresponding [level]_tasks.script's process_info_portion() function to delete/copy the associated .dds files for $game_textures$ for specific info_portion triggers.
