ecb shaderpack

Anybody knows this mod?

http://code.google.com/p/ecb-shaderpack/

There's very rare information on this to be found on the web. Some russian sites seem to refer to it but those links are currently broken.

I didn't find any useful screenshots nor videos, just one vid introducing some "light trail effect" (which doesn't look that spectacular to me):

Is this being used in some major mod? Has it any cool features?

What is this supposed to be, insanelazarez? That's not an answer to any of my questions, nor does it contain any new information.

The link I posted points to the root / home page of the project page, and you just added two more links to sub pages of the same site. And the way you describe them is not even correct, because the "main page" is actually the downloads page...

Sorry to complain about that but it would be much more helpful if you posted some REAL information here...

Meltac, sorry... but i'm trying to help. You want screens?

Ok, i just uploaded some screenshot... here:

[link]http://s693.photobucket.com/albums/vv297/insanelazarez/Diary%20of%20a%20Modder/Ecb-shaderpack/#!cpZZ1QQtppZZ12[/link]

In short, i don't like the sky... but the rest is ok. When a npc (or you) fire a weapon... we see a huge flash, i kinda cool. Sorry mate, but my english is not that good, so that's it.

No promisses here, but later i'll try to record a small video, ok?

Now THAT's already more helpful Thanks.

However I could test those shaders myself and see whether I like them, of course. But I wanted some information about the key features before I go test it, asking myself "hmm, WTF is different from other shaders"...

I use this mod myself...As far as I know, it was just an initial implementation of shaders from some old builds (2218 I think? I don't remember) under the final game, but evolved into a standalone shader replacement pack that strives to improve the game's look while keeping requirements low and the game's style intact.
The recent revisions have added some interesting things - the light trail effect, an SSAO implementation (Same way from the Clear Sky E3 demo, I believe), DoF (ditto), and DDoF (probably a cheaper version of yours? I haven't compared the shader code much.).
It also has a nice shadow smoothing effect, fixes fog, keeps buildings from looking 'flat' in shadow in FDL, and some other things I can't recall..

And they want to keep requirements low with all those features?

And they're definitely using my DDOF shaders...

Thanks for the explanation Maybe there's one or the other thing to pick out for my shaders.

Those shaders look horrible from the screenshots. Insane over saturation and it looks like r2_allow_r1_lights (WTF) are enabled. Talk about a clusterfuckery of crap compiled all into one. The only thing I would say is worth implementing into your shaders meltac is the shadow smoothing. Maybe even do your own shadow smoothing code or implement soft shadows as that can be done on DX9 shaders. about 90% of DX10 stuff can be done in DX9, its just more complex to write.

you're quite hard in your judgments. Regarding what they apparently intended to do (port some old build's shaders into the final game and make them behave system resource friendly) the result might be considerably satisfactory. However, I didn't test them in-game so far.

But I wonder whether their SSAO implementation is less buggy than Sky4ce's.

And yes, of course, shadow smoothing might be interesting, although I never missed this feature TBH. Also, Kingo64 had ported some shadow jittering form Lurk which breaks with many other features making it useless in my case, so I won't hold my breath for this feature here as well.

I'm hard in my judgements because X-Ray is a engine intended for realism. Not the crap like enabling r2_allow_r1_lights, excessive saturation and bloom, etc. As for candidates to add to the DX9 renderer thats easy;

Better SSAO
Soft Shadows
Wet Surfaces
Soft Particles
Soft Water

Most of that is just blending and should be able to be done in the DX9 renderer. Soft particles and soft water might be engine limitations for X-Ray 1.0 though.
