Adapting 1.0004 to 1.0005

One thing I've found rather frustrating is that a lot of the really cool Russian mods out there are built with 1.0004 in mind. I remember that the original AMK mod was done with this in mind aswell, and there was a patch you could use to make the 1.0004 version into 1.0005 (I use the steam version, so this is pretty much the only version I can use)

Is there some sort of universal method to adapt 1.0004 to the 1.0005 patch? I know some stuff was changed in the patches, but I'm unsure as to what it is. Any thing to look out for in terms of pitfalls and what have you would be great.

If I remember well, the changes to adapt it for 1.0005 was a few lines in task_manager.script and xr_motivator (I don't remember well what was changed on those since the last time I did that was a month or two or three ago) and also system.ltx (change the current_server_entity_version from 6 to 7).

For example, check this compatibility thing I've upload for O.F.F.L.I.F.E. mod.

My thoughts for xr_motivator, the changes were related to the dialog_manager lines script.

That's the one thing that really bugs me about Steam.
Patches should be by choice. I always bought retail Stalker games anyway.
sorry for Off Topic...

The most universal method is to unpack stalker patches with inno unpacker, and backup the engine (bin folder) and gamedata (db* files) files, and copy them into game folder as your currently used mod desires.
I use this method, and it works nice.

Steam can be changed to 1.0004. There were posts on it with a link to a tutorial somewhere around here.
Reading what Bangalore just wrote presumably that'll help you reverse the steam patch.

I think I happen to have the image that explains it, but it isn't that fun since it involves registry editing.

It also requires deleting / moving gamedata.dbc

I never bothered with that, since I have a disc version installed and I used to have 2 different install folders that I would switch out when playing different patch versions.

I've never tried doing this Steam conversion either. I use a disc copy for 1,0004 or 1.0006 mods and Steam for 1,0005 mods.

The only reason I got the games on steam was so I could have two copies of each game set up at the same time and I bought all three games for 5 pounds (UK) in the summer sale which is a steal for the best games series out there.

Someone mentioned moving the dvd files elsewhere on Win7 to then reload the game for extra copies before, I tried that once (Win7) and it refused to reload again saying it was already on the pc. I did not mess around trying to make it work though so I must have done something wrong. I will try again sometime.
