Some ideas for further improving this mod...

1.) Ambient music - that's right, music. Ever walked into Cordon from the Garbage, and noticed that there's this creepy tune playing in the background, setting the mood? Well, there ought to be a similar track playing for all of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s levels. Please, Darius, if you manage to acquire / make some subtle-but-effective tracks, release them by all means. I'll gladly be a beta tester.

2.) More ambient sounds! I understand there are some good ones in there already, but more never hurts.

3.) Lowering perceived footstep volume (by NPC's) whilst keeping it the same for the player (through the speakers). There's this thing that's always bothered me: guns make less noise than footsteps in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.! (that is, according to the noise o' meter)

4.) Better sounds for when bullets whiz by the player. It's a no-brainer, really. This one mod I was using a while ago (I got it from Filefront i think) had some great whiz sounds, but they weren't OGG-commented, so I deleted them. Shame.

5.) Your new main menu music is great, except... It's silent for the first few seconds upon entering the menu. This is a problem, because I only spend 5 or so second in the main menu anyway, and I don't want those 5 seconds to be silent. Any possibility of making the 'easily perceivable' part start right away?

EDIT: Huh? The forum software won't bold "More ambient sounds"...?

I just might do that.

Already in the works.

Yeah, i'm trying to figure this out. Already got the nightvision to be completely silent.

I've found good ones for this, permission to use them is still pending.

Well, i could remove the fade in from that tune. BTW, has anyone even bothered to listen the song through.

Hey Darius! How hard would I have to beg to get you to make me a custom sound for one of the weapons in my new mod? The weapon is a full auto mp5 that fires 12 gauge shotgun ammo. (The same "snork sweeper" that I have used in all of my mods) The original mp5 sound just doesn't have that "BOOM" that a shotty has. This thing fires at 300 rpm so that complicates things a bit... I can't use the stock shotgun sound because it is too long and it clips out (best way I can explain it).... it works OK up to about 150 rpm and then it gets weird!

Well, i think that cutting will appear, if the same sound is used for rapid fire. If you take a look in the w_ak74.ltx, it can be seen there, that there is
multiple sound files used for rapid fire. I think this is to prevent the cutting.
The multiple files are the exact same sound as normal fire, but with diffrent filenames, so it creates kinda sustain/decay to the sound, ie when the first shot is played,it starts with the next while the first might still be playing, then when the third shot is played, it might still be playing the second or even the first.

I hope this makes any sense. Kinda hard to explain.

And sure, i can try to create a custom sound.

This one is a suggestion for FatRap's request, to go along with the Snork Sweeper sound - could you do a subtle electronics 'power up' sound under the sound that the 'HK slap' makes near the end of the MP5 reload/readying sound? Like the one that the Gauss rifle makes, but shorter and more subtle? The existing one is wonderful for the MP5 - it follows the animation perfectly and sounds a lot better than the vanilla sound, but it'd be a good way to differentiate the Snork Sweeper from the MP5s.

Also, it should say something about the quality of your mod that I've found it practically *mandatory* to integrate with the mods I play ever since I tried out 1.06. Good work!

Thanks! Well, 1.07 is in the works, only this time i'll make sure everything works perfectly before release. Last time was a pain to try to fix and at the same time update the fixes onto multiple different forums and sites. Don't want to do that again...

I might say with a 99% certainty, that this is caused by another mod. I specifically make sure every sound is properly OGG-commented.
