Back on track, again!
Good news!
I re-installed SoC again, just had the sudden urge to play it (and perhaps I'm subconsciously gearing up for Lost Alpha?  ) . And as usual, after a while the vanilla weapon sounds started to bug me just too much, especially remembering how much improvement I had achieved, before I nearly lost all of my work. So, I just couldn't help myself:
I've restarted work on Sound overhaul 2.0 for SoC. I managed to salvage most of the sounds from the broken down harddisk. There are some sounds still left which need to be redone from scratch, but for the most part, I basically have everything intact, one way or another.
So, new idea is to start small: I'll try to do Sound Overhaul 2.0 like small building blocks, compatible with each other. First I'll finish the weapons and most parts of the interface (inventory etc sounds), then move on to other aspects, like anomalies, npc's etc. This time I'll try to get stuff released in smaller parts once finished and then concentrate on the next part.
So, seems it'll take a lot more than a few accidental deletes and exploding hard drives to keep this project down.
It'll come, sooner or later.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.
I'll need to update my rig a bit, I guess it's this whole film project which has been going on for several years, that's been a huge strain for my rig and hard-drives, so they're finally just giving up. I'll need to buy a couple of new hdd's, maybe a new motherboard too. This old rig has come to the end of it's road, even my graphics card is starting to glitch out. I guess it's time to rebuild.
Anyway, as I said earlier, thankfully I didn't loose the actual sound files I've created over the years. Now THAT would have been a complete motivation killer. I guess I'll take a new shot at this once my rig is up and running properly again. And when I've re-installed SoC...

Disasterous news:
Ok, SoC Sound overhaul 2.0 is now delayed for an undetermined time, until I find motivation to nearly start from scratch.
My rig suffered a catastrophic hard-drive failure, so I not only lost my WIP stuff of SO 2.0, but ALL of my various Stalker installs, unpacked datafiles etc. Basically everything stalker-related. (And a load of other essential stuff too.)
Fortunately I DID manage to save all my soundfiles created for SO 2.0, but the motivation to actually start over from the beginning by installing the game, unpacking the datafiles, editing ltx's ect. well, at the moment I just don't feel like it.
I need to rebuild myself a new(ish) rig and perhaps then I'll continue the work. But for now, SO 2.0 is on hold.
