Those folders contain the sounds for different npc voices. A lot of the sounds are the same, but some of them do differ. IIRC there are two unmasked voices (not wearing a mask or full face helmet of some sort) and a masked voice (with a mask for full face helmet).
Sadly, the way the engine processes sound, its necessary to have these duplicates.
Editing wounded threshold / Purpose of human_01-03
First question: I'm putting together a little mod to replace the wounded (lying on the ground) audio files. As you can imagine it's troublesome to test that, so is there a way to make the wounded state occur more easily?
Second question: In the vanilla gamedata\sounds\characters_voice directory there are three folders, human_01, human_02, and human_03. Many of their files appear to be exactly the same. Is it necessary to include three versions of each of my files? What's the difference between them?
