Concerning SWO/Random weather vs Panoramic skyboxes... I'm pretty sure I'd prefer Panoramic with a nice set of weathers. TBH I don't look up and watch the sky that much and while a realistically circling sun is a great detail, going from no real horizon to a proper one is, imo, a much more noticable change. As long as you can get rid of that bullshit about needing to start a MP map before playing SP to make it look right . Just my 2c.

I prefer nandersen's DW last version. It looks much more realistically than other ones. Completely random, with amazing moonlight it gives you opportunity to immerse in the game deeper. Just my opinion.

Would it be possible to implement random weather at night and have Panoramic sky textures during the day? You can't really see the horizon at night anyway and during the daytime the necessary overuse of fog is kinda irritating, making everything look drab.

This looks great. I think the people criticizing mod packs for not adding new things to the game should maybe take a break from STALKER for a while. There are plenty of people out there like myself who haven't played through the game 100 times and enjoy these mod packs because it saves us a lot of work!

Seconded!

2. More random events or triggers

That's kind of an oxymoron, isn't it?

I agree - panoramic should have priority over DW. We spend more time watching the landscape, so it's only logical.

They are compatible:

Edit: And I would like to see in the game really impenetrable random fog.

Just imagine, you cannot see further than couple of steps away from you because of fog. You are able to move on just using your mini-map and PDA. Every single minute you can run into an enemy or mutant. Of cause, there should be an appropriate ambient sound.
Doesn't it add STALKER atmosphere to the game? Wouldn't it be amazingly exciting?

Unfortunately, no one has implemented this kinda weather so far.

it would be probably be annoying to have dense fog because you'd keep dying to anomalies you can't see.

Isn't that why we have bolts?

It would make detectors even more important. Sounds like a good challenge.

I've already tried implementing this. Implementing the fog is by no means a difficult task, however under the completely overhauled AI detection parameters from LURK, I've yet to properly make AI function properly in fog conditions.

There is a ridiculous amount of variables that were taken into consideration when creating proper stealth and detection parameters, and as you might have guessed from my previous post, weather is obviously an obvious aspect. While there are many appealing features I'm interested in implementing and re-adding, unfortunately for the time being I've simply had to truncate some things in order to make the AI work properly.

Of course more effort will be placed into balancing these aspects down the line, unfortunately for the base release I have to make due with the current weather configurations, seeing as how the AI parameters were configured under these conditions.

Unfortunately at this stage, other weather mods and shader packages aren't supported by Lurk. The visibility parameters were balanced under these circumstances, and using other weather configurations like the one you posted would conflict with this. Although at this point I can't possibly see why you'd want anything different. The graphical aspect of Lurk is unparalleled at this point in time, and it would be tragic to see all the work put into configuring appealing weather schemes and AI visibility parameters go down the drain in favor of features such as dense fog.

I want to implement fog, I really do, however it's only a possibility at this stage. Every other aspect of weather you can think of is being worked and improved, however fog at this point isn't one of them. The shadows have an exaggerated contrast level in the current shader and weather configuration in place of realism, simply because it provides a more aesthetic artistic impression, while creating an emphasis the dynamic AI structure, allowing Lurking in the shadows to be possible even during the mornings and evenings.

Surely you have to do what you planed to. And if you implement later that kinda weather in your following versions it will be just one more great addition to your so promising mod.

Just take your time and do your best.

Edit: In vanilla the rain looks as "a shower" just above the actor. Do you plan to make it more realistic, kind of dense rainfall which fills all air space with rain splashes on the ground, wet surfaces, and so on? It would be pretty nice.

I have two questions:

1. Is the later AI thing by BAC9 (or Xstream, not sure which) which allows AI to fire weapon-mounted grenade launchers and use the right weapon according to range and type of enemy going to be included?
2. Is some form of faction wars, like that in the Faction Wars mod, going to be included?
