first posted this in the single player bug forum, but was told that this would be a better place to put my question:

Hi, I recently bought SoC off of steam and I am currently using LURK 1.05, but I am having some weird problems with the shadows. I have not played the game without the mod yet, but I believe the problem has something to do with the advanced shaders option in the mod.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I would just set the shaders back to default, but I accidentally moved the advanced shaders instead of copy/pasting them, so if I set them back to default and it didn't work I would have to download the whole LURK again to get back the advanced shaders.

Oh, and the problem that is occurring is that if I am looking at certain angles there is a shadow that shouldn't be there at the edge of my screen. Then If I move foward the shadow follows me. It is really annoying, and I hope we will be able to fix it soon

At least you should first try to make the suits look more realistic, and not like Power Ranger ones.

Do Dutyiers still have those red crab suits and Freedomers the green frog ones? Damn, do I hate them reusing those stupid textures all the time! Make new ones dammit! Same with that arse'n al mod.

IDK - what I've always thought was that the different factions should have a more dispersed appearance . . . in that, you can't tell just by looking at an NPC what faction they're with. Y'know, dutiers wearing stalker suits, occasionally military or bandit outfits - bandits wearing merc or monolith outfits, etc.

I've always hated that you can tell a friend or foe by their outfit - especially in an environment where everyone must scrap for their equipment . . . besides, who's to say a bandit doesn't prefer a stalker outfit over that leather coat, y'know?

. . . as a side note, this is one thing I plan on implimenting into FS.

Suit textures, I'm not sure. I haven't played L.U.R.K. in awhile (having fun with SGM in CoP), so I'll have to check up on that.

As for the weapon textures, most of them are redone and are either made by hand or from FPS Banana/various other texture artists. There may be a few stragglers left from the Arsenal Mod.

EDIT: Scratch that. It's about half and half on the weapon textures.

EDIT 2: Huh. While digging through the files, I just now noticed that some cut mutants were added in. I never knew that. None of the releases of L.U.R.K. ever mentioned adding in cut mutants. Or at least none that I recall.

still having double-vision.First patch for 1.1 will clean that up nice, my friend.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/lurk

Click the huge pic that says PATCH #1 RELEASED.

Or you could try and translate the mods first, using translators. And play the game in Google-ese??? Hell no.

I don't want it to be like the first translations for CoP again where everyone was using broken English and telling stories of horny wizards.

Oh... derp. I assumed 1.1 included patch #1. I like the changelog, I was thinking everything looked a little too dark all the time but I didn't mind it too much. This mod may just get that 10/10 rating yet.

Awesome mod!

I recently decided to relive a few SoC nightmares and, thanks to a fellow Stalker, heard that this mod was the way to go. Having tried several mods over the past few years, I have to say that this one is unique, and extremely addicting to play, and I'm having a blast. So good job.

But... unfortunately I've run into a few problems. I made it to the Brain Scorcher and out of the psionic field when I noticed that I saw still having double-vision. I thought maybe it was the mod telling me I needed to sleep, though I didn't think it was necessary... so I went all the way back to Freedom HQ to have a nap to see if that would correct the problem. No dice. So I figured, hell, I guess I could just restart and see if it's as fun the second time around. I get into X16 and encounter the Controller, who makes my head start spinning. I make it out of the lab, and once again I'm seeing double, and nothing I can do will fix it.

So since this is twice now, my guess is that this is some sort of psi-related bug. I have no idea how to fix it but I'd really like it to go away so I can complete my trek to the center of the Zone. I tried exiting the game, reloading saves and all that but nothing I do fixes it. Any suggestions for a Stalker in need?

I hope the Russians come out with some more stuff, cause it seems the English side is rather.....Stagnant IMO. Maybe that's the wrong phrase.
---END QUOTATION---

I sadly have to agree with you there. All I've seen coming from the good 'ole USA is modpack after modpack. L.U.R.K. is the only mod from the US that at least has some originality. I mean, just looking on ModDB, somebody is releasing Bland OL Modpack #79, and the rest of the mods from the US are either addons for OL, or modpacks containing it. It's kind of making me lose hope for the longevity of this game if all we're getting besides the quality Russian mods are modpacks that are basically based on a mod that itself is even a ripoff of a truly great mod. And I think most, if not all, of us are tired of playing AMK for the 400th time but this time with cheating night vision or ludicrously increased inventory weight, or useless feature #24, etc.

And let's not forget Faction War mod after Faction War mod as well. I swear, ever since OL came out, all the US fans want with their mods is Faction Wars, which in itself in OL was mostly broken. Or at least from my experience with it.

All I know is that I need to learn Russian, because there are a lot of mods I'd really love to play out there, but most of them aren't in English.
