Keep in mind that .9 is actually an tester build not designed to be a final release. They've been calling it 'leaked' which doesn't make sense since Holden himself posted the download links up on /v/, but I think he did this just because Sept 20 was supposed to be the release date and he didn't want to disappoint any fans who were watching closely enough to still catch the links in absence of an official announcement.

So I'm personally expecting a very different gameplay balance when the mod is 'officially' released in a few days, especially regarding the broken economy.

I was also confused by the darkness of the atmosphere, until I realized that the time progression in the game is broken. I was wondering why the lighting felt so evening-like around noon. I didn't like it either. When it got too dark to do anything without night vision, I settled down in the rookie village with my sleeping bag. I slept 9 hours off the clock, but it was still pitch black when I woke up. I tried again. Same thing. I passed an entire week sleeping. Eventually there came a point where I woke up under a starry sky, which suddenly popped into bright daylight a few seconds later. It was just as bright as I'd care for daylight to be for a few hours after that. I expect this to be fixed in the final release as well.

So I'm enjoying the hell out of LURK despite its flaws, and really look forward to the final release.

same here

it's like playing Build 1935; you have to see it for "what it is"

too many, having too much to say about this build

it is not final

and methinks there's a better chance for answers to question(s) at mddb

Hey guys just a few small mod questions that are tangentially related to LURK.

I have added in the mini map because I love it so much ^^ but its missing its boarder. How can I add this back to the mini map?

Pic: http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr63/X_Malinthebeast_X/LURK/XR_3DA2009-09-2120-50-22-92.jpg

Also do you guys happen to have STALKER Complete 09? Because I want to copy the weapon cross hairs from 09 over to LURK. If one of you guys could send me the required gamedata files It would be much appreciated.

why would you want the mini-map and/or cross-hair?

this be about immersion

*sigh*

:edit

just noticed there is a cross-hair in-game(!??!?!?!) that was... a pure disappointment

in order to make it a "dot", edit system.ltx

cross_length = 0.0
max_radius = 0.0
disp_scale = 0.0

this may seem like it completely removes the cross-hair, but it turns it into a single "dot"

*sigh*

my preference will always be no cross-hair

I wouldn't mind keeping the "Get out of here, stalker" snorks, though.

I've noticed that time passes reliably if you sleep in only one hour increments. I think that if you sleep in 3 or 9 hour increments your clock will move forward that amount, but actual game time will still only move one hour. So you can pass 90 hours on your clock and all your quests will void and everything, but the sun will have only moved according to 10 hours

thanks for the tip

I'll try to stay awake instead ^^

and for those who have complete lag in the bar-area, thus not being able to play further; here's the problem (solution);

"Thousands of guns spawning at the Duty trader, causing the physics engine to overload and lag the area. The problem is in the trade_dolg.ltx file under gamedata/config/misc/

You can either just delete the file, or edit the numbers in a text document. It won't fix the problem in a game where you've been to the bar, however. Only in new games."

I understand that it's a beta - that's exactly why I've made some feedback - those are my observations, not saying it's crap or a dead loss or anything like that. The AI is very promising and the weapons actually feel quite good - tho possibly a bit overpowered for good fights - in fact the guys seem to be following the same sort of logic with weapon and ammo configs that I follow - tho their accuracy / power accross the board is somewhat higher than I prefer.

Santa have you noticed you can equip ammo to your belt? Doing so doesn't seem to change anything. Any idea what it means?
