I usually use Microsoft Media Encoder for capturing video. It is free and quite powerful.

I'll see what i can come up with. Just started from the beginning to test some sounds related to quests. Although most of the reworked sounds are so subtle, that i don't really know how they would be presented in a video.

UPDATE!

Version 1.04 is out, grab it from the Mod Download-section.
I also now made a patch, so anyone already having the previous version don't have to redownload the whole pack.

Changes in 1.04:

-All anomailes (excluding Burnt Fuzz) now have new sounds.

Not much, but something.

EDIT: heh, i forgot to put the contact info into the readme... Oh well, it'll be in the next version...

Progress report:

Right, i've done some more ambient sound replacements (still haven't figured out how to add new ones...) and other minor tweaks (found out that the geiger counter doesn't actually use all the sounds, just the first six.
And the geiger "off scale" sound is actually pretty crap ingame.)

The new ambient sounds actually scared the crap out of me, and i made them after all! Should have known they are there! So, quite effective i think.

I'll do some more stuff and when i have an some more put together, i'll post an update again.

Later!

Version 1.05 is out!

Ok, i seem to have accidentally left out the thunderbolt.ltx from the previous versions, which actually is vital for the various thundersounds to be played at all. So that is now fixed. And added a few anomaly ltx-files that contain the anomalies sound info. These are from vanilla with my added new sounds, so when merging with other mods, just use the sound part of it.

And a few new spooky ambient sounds.

Well, thats about all this time.

EDIT:

HA! A breakthrough! I think i just found how to add new ambient sounds and limit them to diffrent times of the day. I was looking through the scripts to figure out how to add new ambient sounds, and completely overlooked the weathers-folder in config. Man,it's the env_ambient file that i've been looking for all this time. Funny, that i thought that it would be a script that controls the ambience. Well, now i can really get started with the new sounds. Yay!

Ogg Comments

@darius,
Hi, this mod is excellent, the sounds are very well chosen and reproduced and I don't get any Ogg comment errors (except the contact sound in the detector, i just delete those ones as they are a very piercing sound and I use the annoying audio fix snork sounds instead).

I was wondering if you could share with us how you do your Ogg Commenting? I get heaps of these errors as I'm also using:

Acoustic_Metal_Stalker_Minimod
annoying_audio_fix 1.3
FUllmetal FM
Siro's Sound Mod

These mods haven't been correctly commented, if at all. But I simply can't play stalker without them now.

Thanks in advance.

Of course! It's not like i'm keeping it a secret! There is a good ogg-commenting tutorial on OL forums. That's where i learned how to do it. I actually started to do the commenting as i was using some of those mods you mentioned and wanted to get rid of those errors in the console.

There ya go. There is also a link to the programs needed. Any hex-editor will do,but you'll need the Fixoggcs program to fix the checksum and get the sounds working in game.

EDIT: Just to clear up, i'm guessing you're getting the ogg errors on the contact sounds from some other mod, since i'm pretty sure i commented my replacements.

Progress...

Oh well, there is just so much you can do with the ambient sounds. I was almost out of ideas and motivation, but then i decided to do,what i said i wouldn't: New weapon sounds. These are turning out pretty nicely. Reworked the mp5, and i think i nailed it. Now i really get a kick out of using it, it sounds almost brutal.
Also done some others, but still have to test them.

Done so far:

-Pm
-Pb silenced
-Mp5
-Ak's and abakan
-sig550
-lr300
-rpg7
-Grenades
-Fort
-Draw sounds for various weapons.

Still got alot to do, but i think i got my inspiration back. These sounds are not so much based on realism (but close), more like on the feeling of the weapons. If i'd go for full realism, they'd all sound pretty much the same, just a loud bang. I'm trying to get a kinda
"plausably realistic" sounds to them.

Thanks for that link, I will study it shortly.

My wording may have been a little ambiguous, I have not noticed any ogg comments errors with any of your sounds. I don't use the contact or snork files because I don't like the way they sound.

Ok. But again i'll have to correct: my mod contains NO snork sounds. I actually prefer the Annoying audio fix's Snork sounds myself.
