Ok, now an observation that I should've made before: I can't hear the equipment clatter sounds in-game. Even at the bandit camp, where in vanilla you always hear the heavy breathing sounds when the npcs detect you, the clatter is inaudible. I don't know if this is a problem exclusive to version 1.03, since I didn't have time to throughly test the past versions.

It could be that I'm wrong and the sounds are audible, and I'm yet to experience them. Any thoughts?

No, they are really silent. I didn't want to make them ridiculously loud, like the vanilla breathing. But the sound is there. I could make them louder, but i kinda like them now, you actually have to listen, if someone is moving around.

Oh, and BTW: i made the Bandits and stalkers a bit quieter than the others.

I kinda had a "philosophy" when doing the sounds:

Military: They are loud. An assault force with powerful weapons and equipment, so no need for stealth.

Bandits: Sneaky cut-throat types, so they are stealthy.

Stalkers: Well, they know their way around the zone, so they know not to make alot of noise.

Mercs: Kinda like the military. They rely on firepower, not stealth.

Newbies: Name says it all, noobs.

Scientist: Well, kinda like newbies.

Monolith: Same as military and mercs.

Duty: As above.

Freedom: A bit stealthier. Closer to bandits than to military. Kinda in between. Well, they
ARE outlaws after all.

Well, that was the general idea.

Best way to test, as i did, is to sneak to the car park attic if possible, then wait for bandits and then just fire a single shot so they hear that someone is there. They'll be running around the place.

But if you really think that the sounds are too quiet, let me know and i'll rework them.

Actually, being killed inside the car park did the trick. I was able to hear the equipment clatter correspondent to low breathing.

I can't really say if the sounds are too quiet or not. But it is a question of balancing "realism" (veracity, believability... are the sounds perceived as they would be in a non-virtual reality, since they originally belong to one?) with the character immersion proper of the fictional Zone and the game's tactics-oriented play. I understand your choice, and, in this case, the fact that the clatter sounds sometimes can't be heard is no cause of the sense of misplacement, incoherence, that would break both veracity and immersion.

You have been doing some amazing work. Keep it up.

What was that?

Darius6~

I honestly don't really know that much about a lot of Modding.
But I do know that I am VERY impressed with all the Sounds in
the Game and it greatly contributes to the immersion factor
with the weather, day and night cycles and everything else.

This Game would NOT have worked anywhere near as it does now
without the work of the SOUND Guys who contributed so much time
and effort and have done such a fantastic job that I cannot just say
enough in my appreciation of everything I have heard and experienced.

Let's face it. WITHOUT all the Sounds especially in all the Underground
Levels would be no where near as scary, apprehensive and dreadful in
making you feel terrorized and ready to jump at a moment's notice.

I tried to explain this before elsewhere but until you actually play
STALKER, I cannot even give it justice for just how truly great all the
Sounds are and how very, very important they are in the original Game.

Hi Darius6

I recommend that you make a youtube video so the public hear the changes of your mod. Many people are reluctant to download mods without knowing minimally.

Sorry for my english. ^^ Good Luke!

Well, Fraps is a great game recording program, but the free version only lets you record 30 second videos. And, the full program, which lets you record all you want, costs $37.

Like I said, it's a good program, and it's worth the money if you're really going to use it. Unfortunately, I don't know of any other game recording software, so you'll want to do some research before you go buying anything.

Yeah, i'll have to look into that. I just tried FastCap, but couldn't get the damn thing to work.

Of course, if anyone using my mod is willing to do a video, feel free to do so!

EDIT: Ah, it sorted itself out. Thanks Don Reba!
