Removing the text while recording demo

Hey there.

Sometimes I like to use the demo tool to make make a simple video or take some nice screenshots. It would be easier than to actually save and play the demo files, if I could just make the video directly while "recording" the demo.

So I'm wondering, isn't it possible to hide this red blinking text?:

Thanks

"As of the 1.0003 Patch, the demo_record command has been added to the game, allowing you to record custom timedemos for benchmarking purposes. Use the demo_record [demoname] command in the console, and the game will begin recording your demo - you can then use left mouse button to move the camera forward, right mouse button to move it back, and A and D to move the camera left or right, W or S to move it up or down. You must press SPACE to regularly append key frames, and then press ESC when you want to finish recording. The demo is saved with the .xrdemo extension under your Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\STALKER-SHOC\savedgames\ directory. To play it back, first load up the relevant saved game you used to record the demo, then type demo_play [demoname]."

you don't need to hide text, just record that demo and then play it.

I know what the demo function is for. My point was that I would like to just use the demos "no-clip" function without having to actually play the demo, because in my case it usually results in crashes.

The only way is to use a camera in the SDK and plot its course which will happen in real time.

ofc its possible. record a sequence in game (demo_record xxxx ), fly, press the space buttons, if you press space faster while you fly, the cam will fly slower there, if you press it rarely, the cam will fly superfast there, if you stop and look around, it also records your cam pos, if you press space each time you rotate the mouse. then when its done, press esc, and in console again: demo_play xxxx (the name you gave in demo_record mode) and then you can watch back your sequence, this time w/o text on screen, suitable for recording.

Well he just said that he knows what its for, he wants to use just demo_record and to be able to record it while in demo_record still.

Don't know why would it crash for you...

It would be so much easier to use an external video capture utility - I use Fraps, but it is shareware, and limits to 30 seconds recording with the Fraps logo on -screen while in freeware mode.

MSI Afterburner has a free video capture module that may suffice - I haven't tried it, but I know others have used it with success.

There are also other capture utilities around - mostly shareware, but there is also Taski, which is free and open source. Never tried it myself though, so don't know how well it works.
