This is too move discussions out of the downloads section. I've also had problems getting it too run with both dvd and Steam copies of the game.

These are all original Russian files (text \ rus) a set of SoC unpacked.
Be careful to not overwrite existing files of the mod , but just add the missing files.
And start now for the first time the mod, all in russian .
It should not have to worry, that's what I did and everything is correct.


Otherwise,another possibility is to launch the mod under a russian SoC game (patch in 1.006 http://www.playground.ru/files/patch_s_t_a_l_k_e_r_1_0006-10161/)

Also in the last post discussion on stalker-gsc.ru,we are waiting for a pach to correct some animation omf who crash the game.


This mod have really awesome graphics.

That's the error I have when trying to start the mod. I don't see how an out of memory error could be caused by having a different language version of the game.

I just noticed this in the other thread, and to be honest, and since I can't read Russian in the first place, I'm just going to move on. I remember playing another mod, maybe two that were translated from Russian, and it had that helicopter and artifact part at the beginning, too.


Thanks to those who found the solution to get these running, by the way.

Just a precision about the Russian SoC install:

according to the PC or the different operating system,
(XP or win 7 32 or 64), the installation process may be stop at the second stage.
(It happened to me on my laptop).

But don't you worry about that,like most russian .exe install on our OS version or PC, the setup process don't stop correctly sometimes at the end.

Not a problem because the process of extracting the necessary files was done correctly
(this is which takes long time to the second step of setup installation).

And so you can find find all the russian files for SoC 1.006 under
-don't know exactly in english-

C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\R.G.Best
or C:\documents sttings\yourname\AppData\Roaming\R.G.Best

So if this happens, the easiest way is to research exactly R.G.Best on your PC (under C:\ even you chosed another folder-the install stopped-)
and you will find all the files you need to build the folder of the game in russian.

This version is really cool because no other patch needed and all the russians mods I try with this version launch at first time without problem.
This is the most simply install I try to launch russian mod and avoid install patch,other files...

(So ,on my portable I copy all files under R.G.Best in another partition and in a folder name SoCRus1006 ,create a shorcut to launch the game).

I try to test the bin folder or files or russian .xr in our version to launch correctly the mod under our ww Soc version without error handler or memory,to see the exactly necessary files we needed.

I can't get any of that to work. I can't even run the russian patch, there's just a bunch of jibberish and it closes.

So forget it, unless they release some kind of compatibility patch the mod is just going to gather dust on my pc.

Be aware, it's just a result of few minutes work. Strings can be missing, i didn't compare the xml files. But it's good enough to check this mod. I like it, oldschool and vanilla.

Scripters would script a subtitle, just like the InGame CC mod. For me it would be easier to make a new intro_stalker.ogm. First i would make this text scrolling intro with a movie maker program (sony vegas, cyberlink powerdirector, corel videostudio etc. etc.), then i would edit together the text scroll and the original intro, finally i would convert the complete new intro movie to a new ogm. Separately i would make this with the intro sound too.
The mod creators also did this.

After getting the Russian pre-patched 1.0006 version suggested by Olivius74, the 3.0 version of the mod re-posted elsewhere from Motanut, and the quick translation from Bangalore, this is so far playable for me.

I'm only wondering where the error fixed by a 'future' fix takes place, as stated by olivious74 : 'patch to correct some animation omf'.

I didn't want to give up trying this, and now glad that I won't.

Yes with your work on files translate there is not much work to have it in french.Many vanilla files,always the news will be a little "tricky".
But the essential is to can move on and for me "to rush" to see DarkScape with the awesome graphics of this mod.

Happy to see that you can play the mod!

The install of this version of Russian Soc is a little "confusing" but not so hard and especially works perfectly !!With it you can't now lauch every russian mod (Degtyarev Law,RMA,Paradise Lost...).

Very usefull to test directly all the mod that the russian create
(without having tocorrect some strange errors and lost so many time to try to manage to launch this "foutu new" mod!
I even launch easy the old mod like NLC6
(it was very difficult to launch it!).

And oh sorry for confusion ( or my bad english ) but ,the omf errors was in the previous version,the first version at the beginning of the post of Borovos (Shadows of Oblivion 2).
I play it a little and the game crash about an zombi omf and even remplace the file concerned ...nothing to do.
So I think now it's good in this new and complete version.

Darkscape? Many times, for example when i wanted to make a similar mod (Uncut 18+) like Shadows of Oblivion. I saw this map in SOC and in COP too.

Ahh, your english is understandable, but i didn't see Darkscape in this mod, and i don't think it differs from what i saw. Not much modder is capable doing maps from scratch or edit/expand existing ones. Though the russians are quite good at this thing, and their huge modding community still pumps out dozens of very good mods. Pity, the language barrier and the crash prone of these mods.

I think that crashing has as much to do with x-ray as the modders

I figure the full install would be the way to go. It's already patched, too. Took me about two and a half hours to download, and when choosing to install it to a different folder than the default, I never had the install hang or anything. Works just as good as my retail, U.S. edition copy.

This is the one I'm using, works fine :

Scroll down and click the green 'скачать' link, it will download the torrent ( STALKER Shadow of Chernobylv10006 _1329642295.torrent ), load it up in Utorrent, or whatever you use, and wait for it to finish. You don't need to unpack the zipped files when installing ( I didn't, and it worked fine ), just click on the .exe and wait for it to load. The text is in Cyrillic, but it's easy enough to follow.

I've got this twice now, both in the same area : the Military outpost where you retrieve the document for the barman. Happens after I clear out the base, except for the captain.

There is two db unpacker for SOC: for eng and rus db files, so i think the russian binaries expect russian db files, and it doesn't work with ww version db files.

No need to merge, just replace the original weathers folder with this. It will miss some sky texture, which you can find in others mods, or in version 2 (needs registration on rutracker.org):

I got the game working with the pre-patched Russian SOC torrent! Neat mod! Pretty much exactly like RMA mod but with a couple extra levels. The only thing missing is that hand bobbing from the betas. Why has that been so hard to restore???

Can anyone help? This is a nasty crash after a few seconds of being in the Swamp level. Possibly broken level geometry? I don't know, but for now it seems the swamp is unplayable.

It's a well known error of SOC engine, when playing too big maps or with too much reed (not designed for SOC). The CS Marshes used to crash this way and accordingly your post, old Swamps will crash too.

Fortunately, the only proper fix for this error is for 1.0006 engine, so test this fixed exe and see what happens:

At least the game starts with the russian exe, maybe requires the use of the patcher.

Thanks. That did the trick! I forgot x-ray is so old it can't take advantage of quad-cores or 4gb or RAM. Unfortunately there's not much to do in the swamps yet. There's some boars and fleshes (and a chimera so be careful!), a few anomalies, but there were quite a few artifacts lying around, which you can grab and turn right around and sell to Sakharov. Well that's it.

I don't believe this exe benefits with more cpu core, but it has a simple enhance to play these maps.

So the new maps are empty? It was a flaw of OSRM mod too.

No not exactly. Have you played the mod? Only the swamp is empty. Darkscape has the car chase sequence (which is impossible to do. When I loaded the level my car wouldn't work so I had to do the level on foot with cheats to not get blown up by rockets). There are some mutants and stashes lying around but thats it. Dead city recreates the whole story part with Doctor and escaping from the Mercs and Bandits. That whole level is a royal PITA though because there are probably over 100 enemies on that map and they respawn like mad. Other than that there's nothing else to do. I haven't gotten to the Generators yet but I assume it's a lot like RMA mod where its rotten with mutants and the entrance to the secret lab.

I don't know what the OSRM mod is, but this mod is almost EXACTLY like the RMA mod with the Shadows Addon. I don't know if these are all part of one project, or if these Russian modders just rip each other off wholesale.

OSRM is old storyline restoration mod, and RMA is the same mod with russian abbrevation. Shadows of Oblivion series seems just an other variant of OSRM.

Update: It seems they did a little more work in Dead City. I played through Dead City in the original RMA mod and it was mostly empty except for tons of mercs and bandits. In this mod though they added a little more! After you escape the mercs you can explore around a bit easier. They added more anomalies and artifacts, you can explore the sewers which are filled with snorks, and I saw some loner stalkers wandering around and shooting it out with bandits.

Nice job! This is definitely one of the better "Old STALKER" mods out there and worth playing. It's pretty stable, I had no crashes in Yantar which is where the game is least stable. Warning: it's VERY hardcore! They've changed the immunities and stats so AI are good shooters, guns and mutants do LOTS of damage, etc. I recommend playing on Novice. I hope this mod gets updated and is still worked on. It needs a full english translation though.
