How to improve brick walls in ShoC (adjust parallax mapping)?

Hi!

The topic header says it all really. I playing ShoC using Complete, Abs. nature and PRZ2, and brick walls look ugly and spiky when you get close to them. This is unavoidable esp. in places like Dark Valley.
I tried fooling around with some settings, but didn't see a much of a difference. Could anyone give some directions on how to dial down the parallax mapping a bit, so that the brick walls don't get that artificial spiky look?
Many thanks.

ket has done this in his TK mod:
http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-twilight-ket-2zero

Loner1 has something similar:
http://www.moddb.com/mods/photo-realistic-zone-2

These two mods have to my knowledge the most accurate parallax mapping, displacement mapping, and respective textures for the best brick walls you'll get!

I've seen pictures of KETs mod (KET 2 Twilight), and the walls look great. Overall his entire mod looks awesome. PRZ2 is outstanding too, including the PRZ2 shaders which I also use. Btw., I adjusted parallax offset from 0.015 to 0.005, now it looks much better. This was a rather unecessary post if I had bothered to look a bit harder in the shader settings..oops. (Edited...)

I've never played with those settings, sorry. My primary work is bringing new features into SoC's shaders, not tuning the existing ones. Ask loner, I'm sure he can help you.

I went into the shaders folder, and opened the shaders config file (in my case prz2.cfg). Under the "Parallax Occlusion Mapping" section:

#define PARALLAX_OFFSET float(0.005)

This setting was at 0.015 in PRZ2, and 0.010 in Complete. With 0.005 the walls still has 3d depth, but the awful spiky look up close is gone. 0.005 looks better overall IMO.

Btw., if you want to see the best brick walls ever try MaldoHD 4.0 in Crysis 2.

Damn! so that's what causing that. Thanks! That's actually a typo haha. It should be 0005 in PRZ2 as well

Thanks!
