Unique Weapons of SoC.

As everyone knows the only unique or upgraded weapons in SoC
are the ones carried by special/important NPCs. The Player can get
them if the NPC is killed but sadly enough they are usually all worn out.

Why is that? What's the point of getting these weapons if they are worn
out and will jam constantly or degraded in accuracy if you try to use them?
Has anyone any insight into what the Game Makers were thinking about them?

Has anyone made a Mod that just restores their degradation and prevents
them from wearing down? Not all weapons but ONLY the unique weapons
found in SoC. It seems to me there should be some prize like this when
you get them or at the very least restoring them to like new condition.

I think the problem is that the guy from Freedom, that gives you a scope for a bottle of vodka (I think his name is Screw) was originally meant to be able to repair stuff, but that was cut from the game.

One of the best features that makes of SHoC more special is to constantly keep an eye on your gear that help you survive. Last time around I collected what I believe the best weapons and armors without mods aside from 16:9 ratio full screen scopes.
I had managed to find 4 vintars which I placed them in a stash in freedom base for later use.
Each time I used up one I felt like I was loosing something important and that is what gives value to this game for me.
The only way I could restore them fo full conditioning was if I pasted a repair mod for SHoC but that only would have from this game a more casual experience so I opted out.
I also collected all unique weapons and store them at the duty base but being damaged I never touch them, I even found 2 Gaus rifles in Pripyat both damaged so I understand exactly your point. So in the end I gave in and installed the mod but only used it for unique items... I still believe it was a good choice.

You can alter the function that sets how much worn the weapon is when you take it.
You need to test if it's a unique weapon. If it is, then set its condition to 100%.

Then, you need to alter the .ltx file of the unique weapon, and set its worn parameter to an extremely low value so it won't degrade, or not too fast (0 won't work IIRC).

OR,

you could use a repair mod, that will only allow the unique weapons to be repaired

The ZRP has a modifier option to make all unique weapons non-degrading.

I'll check this, but making weapons not degrading is not enough, as he also wants those unique weapons to be in pretty good conditions when they are dropped by npcs.

Tejas, can you confirm that before I do something that you would find no use for?

I think realism was the design goal. On some play throughs the conditions of the guns are better than others. However, this issue has been addressed in the ZRP as previously noted. It also contains repair options for both Freedom and/or Duty.

Life is not fair after all, is it?

Yep, I'm aware of the Screw connection. Not really a wise choice
considering how many Players blindly attack the Freedom Base
and kill everyone. Still with Screw disabled there was nothing
to take the place and deal with partially worn out Unique
Weapons. Seems at the very least GSC would have
made them new condition so they could be used.

Unique Weapons of SoC

SacriPan~

There were actually 3 "Download" tabs on that page. The other 2 must
have been fake ones ( ads ) and what I saw first. I found the correct one and
even though my Download went okay, it did not seem to work on my current Game.

Any ideas or things I might have been missing?

That's strange, it works fine for me.

What weapons did you use to test it, and what patch are you running, even if I checked the files and both 1.4 and 1.6 patch should work?

I'm using the 1.0005 Patch. It may have worked on
a couple of weapons but not all of the Unique ones.

Are you playing with vanilla weapons only?

If not, give me the file that contains the names (sections) of your unique weapons

This is the unique_items.ltx, that makes the unique weapons non-degradable:

There is a function in the death_manager.script, that determines the condition of the weapon when it is dropped.
I am not 100% sure how this affects unique weapons found in stashes. NPC's that drop a unique weapon may be affected by this script, and it could produce a unique weapon that is damaged when you pick it up.

Unique weapons already found will retain their current condition value, but will not degrade further when used.

I have not tested this, but let us assume that Barin with the unique Tunder (Groza) still is alive, and has his gun.
You apply this fix, and he dies after applying the fix.
His gun "should", be in mint condition since the gun is set to not degrade, but I can't be sure because death_manager.script could set a lower value to the gun when he dies, and drops his gun.

I hope this can help a bit, I just took the vanilla unique_items.ltx, and changed the condition_shot_dec to 0.0
