Super Bin for 1.0005

XR_3DA.exe allows playing new levels without CTD.
This has been tested by me an others. You get the error but no CTDs.
This utilizes the DX9 engine better.

FXAA is pause key so change your stalker pause key.

Well this sounds rather awesome.

I especially could use the fixed xr_3da, but isnt it like.. cracked? My experience with cracked exe and playing with Narodnaya Soljanka is that it will crash much more often, without fatal errors.

Well.. I guess it's either playing with .exe that isn't cracked and crash in new levels, or play with cracked and fixed exe that will cause random crashes once in a while

Is there a full readme somewhere with what all the modded DLLs change? The more grass DLL sounds especially good Is there a way to increase grass draw distance? The "magic terrain" has always bugged the living shit out of me.

Shame, I already had a no-error-in-crashlog crash. Was in X18, but I guess that's irrelevant.

I wish the tweaks they have done to the cracked exe could be done to the exe without cracking it. I'd love to be able to play the new levles without switching to static lightning.

I could'nt test this exe, because i don't play mods with cop/cs levels.
It's for game version 1.0005, if i remember well.

And of course every super exe is based on a cracked exe, and therefore instead of logging the non-fatal fatal errors, it will ctd more often.

See this thread, my experience with xr_kamp ctd. The original exe just logged the fatal error, but didn't ctd, the cracked one crashed to desktop without revealing the real error.

Original CTD'd on the large levels Bamah altered it slightly. Decompile it an see. I think something about large address awareness. He could never get it to work properly "give a proper error log". The console still displays the density error but does not CTD from it. I have never had a CTD in the large levels Red Forest, Marsh Zaton etc. from the density issue. I forget what it's actually called.

Regardless, I'm glad the thing works.

However, I disagree that this forum's almost dead now. It became quieter, much quieter, since most of those big "modding gods" retreated. But a few of them are still here. And, what's much more important: In these days, after all this time, the community makes some of the former mod beginners to the new modding gods, and that way we don't need the faded ones anymore

Hey Jamie1992 is one of my friends, I was around here the same time he was. I can tell you flat out he still hates kany For anyone wondering; yes, working with X-Ray for so long now theres not much I can't do. I still suck at scripting though, just never enough time to start learing it being a one man mod team.

Yep, we don't need modding gods, but we could use their knowledge yet. Especially the scripting part of the modding, very few talented ppl messing around still in GSC forums.

@Meltac, I have to disagree too, this forum is dead, compared to what was going on 3-4 years ago.

Actually me and him get on quite well now. We don't talk that much except the occasion where both of us are online, which is quite rare nowadays.

It depends how you define old modders, if by age then that makes sense, if you mean by join date and such. Well I was here since 2008.

Saying that, I was young back then and realise now how stupid and pathetic most of those arguments, were. Especially as me being 17 at the time, arguing with Kany and Dez and Holden and Vintar all grown men. Looking back makes me feel quite dumb.

But I guess we learn from mistakes right? I know I sure learnt from mine.

Once we all were young (well some of us still are, actually) and gained somewhat better "communication skills" when getting older. I'm quite sure nobody here blames you for what happened so many years ago.

However, I think it would be more helpful for the community (at least, what's left from it by now) to look forward and concentrate on the current issues and questions, rather than "reheating" old argument stories.

I have the retail dvd too, but for faster game starting i used to use the cracked one too.
The "cracked is unstable" is not the right expression.
The super exe is stable, when you solve all your mods script problem. But if your mod have problems with scripts, this exe (just like any other cracked one) doesn't log the error, just quits (ctd) with empty log, and you stuck, because don't know, what's the problem. Test and correct the mod's problem with retail exe, and play the CS/COP levels with the super exe. It will be stable with bugless mod gamedata, believe me.

You are a lucky man, my cracked one used to ctd in 80-90% without logging anything.

Well I saw this and nearly spat my tea all over my lappies screen

I am certainly not the "new" Barin for two reasons :

1) Barin is a scripting / programming God, i am not
2) Barin hates using SDK and i hate using ACDC

Speaking of Kanyhalos, those were good days. Actually he was the one who got me interested in modding and particularly Lua scripting, and not so long ago he asked me for help on a script, so "the circle is complete" I guess
Barin taught me all I know about Lua scripting and Dez taught me the SDK and Griphoon continues to teach me every day, three geniuses right there.

And, i dont think so i spoke to him, he said he has no interest in the old STALKER series, maybe stalker 2, but as GSC closed...i think he will stay with Ce2 and Ce3. He is already really great at these two, so, why not move on? its his choice ^^

New Side Missions(Will Start), Storyline (Will Start), New Maps (Complete), New Spawns (Working On It), Graphics (Working On It), New Weapons (Have heaps of high quality only guns).

We will see about more ideas which I have thought up.

Also, ThunderFreak is also in the team but he has a tonne of things to do himself in real life so lets just leave it at that.

I do mainly graphical art but am learning Stalkers script as I move a long. I merged everything which is currently in the mod myself (Thunder helped with an error which was making me angry).

I'd like to make the things a little more straightforward - many ppl don't know what these fixes are good for.

The XR_3DA.exe supposed to avoid this CTD on WW 1.0005 versions of the SOC (this error emerges mainly if someone plays CS/COP maps on SOC engine):

files, what i posted few years ago, fixing BSOD errors with SB X-fi cards. Some mods overburdens the vanilla dll-s over the top, and with these dll-s you can avoid the dreaded blue screen. Many ppl posted positive fedback, for example they could load saves, what caused 100% bsod in certain places in the game.

But... noone posted any feedback, how these files working, or not working, should we delete them, or they REALLY fix these problems.

I don't know those eax.dll, OpenAL32.dll, and wrap_oal.dll files, but I can say that I didn't have any of those awful byte crashes you're describing since I installed this "super bin" (several weeks ago)!

I got weird looking graphical artifacts in some places, but I guess these places are perfectly those which would have caused the CTDs prior to running the modified bin.

So, until now I'm quite happy with that stuff

So I test this super bin and exe.
Works very well on SMP of my friend Borovos on level marsh,ol swamp...Also with DMX 1.3.4 ,the game launch ok with my save in marsh.

Thank's a lot Bamah for all the "wonders" you share to us,once again!

And also I found on russian site an exe "tweaked",I don't know exactly the term,but these executeable files (one for 1.005 russian and other for world wide)have had their addressable memory increased from 2GB to 4GB.

Those using a 64-Bit operating system or a 3GB switch for 32-Bit users will benefit from an increased ceiling value.(dixit readme).
So I test also,work perfectly .

I tested one of those 4GB-aware exe's a while ago (I think it was from Kingo64) and found that it doesn't help much preventing byte CTDs, so I think bamah's is much better here. However, I didn't check out the other russian thingy you mention yet, maybe it will work better than the one I tested.

A Little On-Topic Feedback

Thanks robberbaron, bamah, Meltac, and others involved in this Super Bin. Installed it, playing StalkerSoup, and the byte CTD's are gone! I had tried Kingo64's exe, but I didn't see an improvement with the CTDs either.

This one definitely works...been in the Swamps for 2 game days, and nary a single crash.

Would people recommend this setup with OGSE? Or is that mod basically optimized in the same fashion, so this wouldn't even be noticable?

I'm running a retail copy (dvd) of Stalker, 1.005 patched, and the 0692 R2 of OGSE, with the extra textures for items, creatures, and people, and have NOT changed the xr3da.exe to a <2GB or no-dvd crack version, but I DO run the game through the configurator with the 'noprefetch' ability.

I have a quad core 2.2, with a gtx460 that suffers some bottleneck but is functional on my motherboard, and roughly 2 to 2.5 gb ram available (not total; available) at any given time. Just tossin' that out there. Not the best specs, but decent enough atm.

Should I try these bins, with this game and pc setup, or would I be wasting my time, or making it worse even?

Reason I'm asking, is it seems that the OGSE team has already spent alot of time tweaking and optimizing the core game engine files, so I don't know if adding these would be redundant, minimal, helpful or even detrimental? Thanks for any input folks. Happy gaming!

When I talked with bamah he had me add one file at a time from this bunch and the "xrD3D9-Null.dll" broke mine.
He says the "xrGame.dll" breaks some others game, not his! He also says they are just Russian version of our files and may or may not be useful in the long term for preventing ctds or whatnot. He is or was in the middle of experimenting with them.
The .exe has been changed again, but I don't think it will be posted here. BTW he uses a Russian version of the game and the .exe is much smaller than ours so it may not help the non Russian versions anyway. He did the other first version for this forum only!

This is all you need to play the Kostya V, Clear Sky and CoP Levels in patch 1.0005 SHoC.

The caveat is it does not always render a proper log. Modders test your new level mods with the original exe or us one from Technobacon's soup they are better than original bin files, but still will CTD with too much action.

Note:
The exe I provided was not originally done by me just modified further by me. It...now listen people....does not cause additional CTDs, in a mod you are using it to play. It quits sometimes before logging a proper error. The CTDs are the poor code of the mod you are playing or the xray engine itself. The exe is just not always logging on quit.
It does well in Soup and my 41 level mod. Yes...not all ctds are correctly logged, but it is not the exe that causes additional CTDs.
If I could fix it I would. I fixed a Russian version but I cannot fix the Eng version...yet. I cannot wrap my head around it properly.

It is about 11.2 GB at the moment(OGSE version) with about 60-70 new NPCs. Since the AI maps are kinda messed up from the original level maps I'm using. I chose to script spawn all the new levels on different timers and level load or first run spawns "OGSM style respawn and ZRP stranger type spawning". This makes all the new levels populated and kinda Fatrap Run'n gun and they do not dry out. It's good as a true FPS mod with atmosphere in Freeplay style. It is not a quest mod at all. Just wander and survive with about 60 new weapons. I actually like this. I do not have the patience to properly fix the maps as Borovos and Bangalore seem to... wish I did. I like scripting. I'm actually working on 3, all are 11.3 GB or so.
One mod is based on Razzor's OGSM countinued 1.5 another is on OGSE 6.9.2 and the 3rd is Xian's FPS 1.2.1 all 41 level. I like modding probably more than playing. I only finished SHoC once using ABC pre 1.4 version.

It doesn't make a difference, if you spawn an npc in all.spawn or you spawn it with scripts. Or does? The invalid ai map will cause troubles for both.
This is the main reason i don't play and i don't mod those mods, whose levels were attached in 2008-2009 with aiwrapper tool. You can recognize these mods, if they have in the mod gamedata\levels\... folders level_sectors.ai files, which means, that it was made with aiwrapper (which is based on the build 2215 xrAI).

With aiwrapper it was possible to make a level.graph from an invalid AI map too, and you could gather a spawn with this erratic graph. So if a modder didn't verifiy the ai map, he simply could make a bad ai map/bad graph, and it means troubles for AI. The modders didn't pay attention on this, as i see, they didn't verify their ai maps.

I don't say that every new level is bad in russian mods... but i checked the levels from AMK NS and Tecnobacon's mod... all levels, which was not released as single player level by GSC, had an invalid ai map. Some of them had more thousand errors, with 0-connection nodes, double nodes, ai map islands etc.

I don't say that aiwrapper is a bad tool... you can verify with this tool too, but it let you to make critical errors, which impacts AI badly.

The new xrAI from 2010, what i'm constantly advertising here on the forum, doesn't let you to do these kind of errors. It's whining and ctd-ing much often than aiwrapper, but if it accepts what you made in the level editor, you can be sure that this ai WILL work properly in the game.

Just insert the XR_3DA.exe only into the 1.0005 bin. Does that work ok?
If yes, try the other files one at a time. As I understand it the xr files are just the RU equivalent of ours. Bamah uses a RU version of the game. The sound dll files are just to help with the BSODS from a Creative Sound Blaster.

The caveat is it does not always render a proper log. Modders test your new level mods with the original exe or us one from Technobacon's soup they are better than original bin files, but still will CTD with too much action.

Note:
The exe I provided was not originally done by me just modified further by me. It...now listen people....does not cause additional CTDs, in a mod you are using it to play. It quits sometimes before logging a proper error. The CTDs are the poor code of the mod you are playing or the xray engine itself. The exe is just not always logging on quit.
It does well in Soup and my 41 level mod. Yes...not all ctds are correctly logged, but it is not the exe that causes additional CTDs.
If I could fix it I would. I fixed a Russian version but I cannot fix the Eng version...yet. I cannot wrap my head around it properly.

Crash with large memory usage

Hey guys, is somebody still using this super bin?

Initially I had thought the modded .exe would solve all of my troubles. The byte-crashes have been gone since I installed it.

However now I got an other issue. As soon as the used memory exceeds some 1.6 GB the game crashes. This happens for example with large levels like Jupiter, when I try to spawn more than about 20 NPCs there.

Sure I could install the old 4GB-aware modded .exe, but then I'd have the nasty byte-crashes that the super bin avoids again.

Any ideas?

I have an answer, but you'll not like it: use the properly modded exe for 1.0006, but i know, that porting a mod for 1.0006 is not easy.
AFAIK the OGSE team builds their mod ontop of 1.0006 superbin too, and they will introduce some bigger maps (merged SOC maps?) into the game.

Indeed I do not like that answer

Hmm, does that mean in other words that there really exists a memory-related issue with the 1.0005 super bin?

At least the 1.0005 superbin exe is a cracked one, and it has some issues.
The 1.0006 superbin is based on a public released developer version of the 1.0006 patch (released with pdb files, and no dvd needed to run), and the russian binary voodoo modders seem overly like it, and edit its binaries like hell.

This is the readme of the 1.0006 superbin, it gives some answer:

"This is a original developers NoDVD's for S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl rus* version 1.0006.

These files are ORIGINAL exe's without ANY protection, not the ones reconstructed from StarForce VM code. Reconstructed NoDVD's, listed on site, have a lots of flaws - first of all engine threads sync is broken so sometimes game crashes in situations where original exe working normally, second problem is that game bug-tracking system just can't be reconstructed from VM data, so there is none of it. As result any game engine-related crash haven't any log at all.
Third thing - if npc have broken logic, on original exe is just stuck with error message passed in log. On NoDVD game is crashing on desktop immediately without any log, which leads to "broken" saves (in fact they are working - they just contains a npc with broken logic in Alife radius) in many mods.

This NoDVD's haven't this problems, and they working 100% like the original game exe.

There are a few options you can set in Fxaa3_11.h or shader.fx, don't remember which one.
 
Each word should be at least 3 characters long.
Search:    
Search conditions:    - spaces as AND    - spaces as OR
