Smaller HUD mod (First one ever?)

So, this is my second official mod A first version of my personally simplyfied HUD.

I made this mod by simply retexturing/deleting frames and indicators in the "ui_hud"-file. I'm pretty happy with the result, but there are more versions to come as soon as I get a look at the config-files for the HUD as well so I hopefully can move around the indicators more, merge them, and get rid of the artifacts. In this first version however, I kept almost all HUD-information, in one way or another. Just to keep it as a very basic one that should fit most of you for now.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy it

-----------------------------------------------

Simpler HUD 1.0 for STALKER (7/4-07)

-Description-

This is a personal mod where I've modified the textures shown in the HUD. Frames have been heavily simplyfied and a few unecessary indicators and icons have been cut out. All this to get a better view over the world, while still have the indicators and map available.

-Installation-

As with all other mods, you need to unpack the gamedata-files first. Then simply copy the file into your "Gamedatatexturesui"-folder. However, I recomend you to rename the old file rather than replacing it, just in case. To uninstall, replace the same file with your backup-file.

-Bugs/testing-

This has only been slightly tested so far, but should work just fine as there're no actual add-ons included yet. Just retextured and cut out frames and indicators. This also means that it should work perfectly with any version of the game.
It is possible though that there are some tiny visible dots on the HUD, if I missed to cover it in alpha-channel. But I think I managed to fix them all before release. But if you'd discover anyone, then please report it in my thread or by mail. It's also possible that some guns with long names dont fit into the new frame. But I highly doubt that as I've made it even wider than the original.

As usual, I wont take any responsability of screwed up game-files or whatever.

You're free to modify these files as you please. Though if you release them as a new modified or merged mod, please mention me in your readme, or something

Enjoy!

Excellent mod

Extract the gamedata.db7 or 8, im not sure, but that's where the textures/ui folder is.

Oh great this makes my game crash, can you make a better installation guide? Like what exactly did you extract etc etc?

hey, looks like a cool mod, however it doesn't work with my current setup. I see a bunch of weird stuff instead of the correct ui. i'm running the patched version with a bunch of mods, but none of them effect the ui. i had similar issues with your other mod, the sloppy icons one, with that i just couldn't see the icons anymore. i would like to try both of them, but i don't know why they wouldn't work with mods not effecting ui.

anyway just letting you know, i don't know if others have this problem or not.

Hi. Looks like a good mod. I play without HUD but this makes it very difficult to know when I'm bleeding. Is it possible to have the HUD off (numpad -) but still see the 'effect icons' when necessary?

You don't need to unpack and gamedata files to use mods.

Correct. To explain further...

The game will always look for the gamedata folder (in the root of your install dir) for any file and then will revert to using the one in the .dv file if one cannot be found.

therefor you only need your .db files extracted if you are looking to mod the files yourself, rather than use a pre-made mod

It makes the game look weird and crash? How the hell is that possible It would ease things for me a lot if you posted a screenshot of corrupted HUDs, fault-messages, version of your game, other installed mods and how you installed it (What gamedata-files extracted and what folder). As it works perfectly fine for me and a friend of mine, I dont really know what could be wrong yet. Though we're both running it with original version of the game at the moment.

Did it work for anyone?

But yea it's probably enough to extract only a few game-data files, but as I got all of them extracted for full access, I have no idea of where the file came from. But then it should be enough to simply create the empty folders Gamedatatexturesui in the Stalker-directory, and paste the new file there alone, shouldnt it? As long as the game is set to read theses files in first hand.
Well, anyways I will add this to readme in next version if it has been tested and surely works.

Thanks for helping answeres!

Victim: Yes, you could simly paint all used frames and stuff black in this ui_hud's alpha-channel, except these indicators for bleeding and stuff. That makes them invisible. Though the weapon and artifact icons, text and map are located in other files. But if you dont actually want to change the looks of anything, it should be possible to simly change the values of these parts of the HUD in the config-file. Check the other thread about HUD where another guy found some very useful variables in some file. I'm currently a little busy today, so I dont have time to help you more at the moment.

It worked for me. I like it a lot, but some of the ui textures don't look as polished as they used to. Anyway, I'm going to continue to use it, and hope for future version
