Thanks for starting the thread--this mod looks interesting. Looks like iloveSHOC is interested in a translation. Anybody talking about this mod in the Russian modding community? It sounded like it's still a WIP, which is fine . . .

Sorry no, I've been converting what Olivious did while waiting on you and have not got far.

Please make sure to explain how you put the mod together before doing the translation as it seems to make a big difference to what text and gameplay files are included and so far I can not get it too work with the patches and my version has a good 10 or more files missing that are in Olivious's files. God knows why yet.

Iv'e got the main mod form [link]http://ap-pro.ru/forum/35-2796-129 got the mod from narod.ru not the torrent and Cumulative patch-2.

I think I might know what your problem is after you rename the rus text folder to eng you will have to go to these files:

string_table_enc_equipment.xml
string_table_enc_weapons.xml
string_table_enc_zone.xml

you will see lines like this at the very top:
#include "text\rus\string_table_amk_matras.xml"

change the rus to eng.

Quick and dirty method sometimes gets you started quickly. Make a copy of the "rus" folder, rename the copy to "eng", and have both a "rus" and an "eng" folder.

The translation is done link is in the download thread.

Edit- After playing a bit of the mod it looks promising so I will try to fix up some of the mod's dialogue release some patches probably, still not done any scripts yet I have to do them manually but will try to get them done.

No compatible patch for 1.0005,6 though the mod site says it has not been tested so could work but may be unstable.

There's allot of green/red text that show's in-game which is still Russian and is probably pretty important the text is located in a script so I will manually translate that the best I can and fix some dialogue in the weapons/item description (look at the medkit in the inventory at the start of the game you will see what Im talking about) and I will do the news scripts as well.

I will get that done sometime this week after that I will start to get the story dialogue better translated ''that will take time''.

If you are running 64-bit Windows and the point of the xrGame.dll patch is to make it large address aware, you don't need the patched file and do not want to use it. The xrGame.dll included with v1.005 and v1.006 is compiled with LAA already enabled.

Starting with SHoC v1.003...
"* Binary files are now compiled with large address aware flag that supports up to 3GB address space (relevant for Windows Vista users)."

You should be able to add the gamedata, add the update, add the translation and play the mod.

Ive already done a bunch of script files there was more text in them than I previously thought but not a huge amount I wanted the scripts finished by last week but been busy with stuff and also translating other mods I hope to have the scripts done by the end of the week if not then start of next week then release them.

After that I can concentrate on the text files.

I am quite a ways in, using the machine trans, the guide and Russian you tube videos. I have re translated some dialogs using experience and a bit of guesswork. Some of the longer stories/dialogs I may never get the full meaning out of, but at least this way the objectives are clear. I will post my versions when I'm done, this is a good story with moments of greatness. Thanks David for your work as well!

It's in the mod download section under the "scar" download. The translation as it stands is a great start from iloveshoc but very confusing at times. I'm trying to fix what I can as I play. I seem to be having problems with this mod. I have gone to the Agriprom by way thru the Garbage and entered Agriprom where I'm met by a few killer 'choppers. I managed to get into the tunnel and kill a 'Giant and escaped to the loner compound and then to the back gate and then reported to the base commander to warn him of a Merc attack. I downed all the heli's and then started killing the Mercs' and thats where I started to have problems looting gear and weapons, seems that when I hit the 'F' key to pick-up a dropped weapon it will not go into my backpack but instead just fly-out to the ground and like-wise from the corpse. Anyone having this same problem and is it alright, or, is it that I've got a corrupted game.

Here is how my gamedata is put together:

A fresh install patched to v1.0004 >
1. the Main Mod WPAM
2. Kumul Patch_SH-2
3. Patch 2 Cumulative (only has 1 single file- borov.ltx)
4. Latest English Machine Translation.

If anyone has a suggestion, I'd be grateful.

So I am stuck and its starting to get to me !
first quest is to find Sidorovich's stupid head under a tree near the bridge , I followed the same thing as the youtube video and the guide and there's nothing there ... and I cant continue the other quest at Garbage.

Is it place at ramdom spot or do I have to talk to someone to activate the quest (apart of Sidorovich) ?

Your backpack will break if you overload it, it's an AMK thing. You should get a message saying "What do you think you are. a truck?"

Other npc can and will pick up quest items on occasion. I found it by the electro anon tunnel. I strongly suggest making a hard save before any major quest, I have had to play through a few more than once because an item didn't spawn or an npc picked it up.

After helping the pharmacist at cordon against the bandit , when coming back running from cordon to the bar (in garbage area) I got this :

I'd like to give a shout-out to see if anybody is doing a translation of some of the other stuff that is in russian. If anyone knows of a program to do the translation and a 'How-To' doc, I'd give it try for myself. This MOD is playing fairly well with only a few stack trace CTD's but nothing major at this time, did however find a folder that needed a small change and is now corrected. So far,,FUN...

SORRY for a double post, but I've run into a problem and need guidance to continue with the story-flow. I've gone to the Swamp to kill Lebedev for Doc. Did the 'chopper to the church and downed it, then talked to the drunk pilot and went to find the cache with weapons and a note (found it). Now when I went to go to the Clear Sky base, there's no way to get over the fence and I don't see any transporter-bubble that Kostya had made earlier in the game. My question is, did I screw something up, or, is there another way over the fence that I have't found yet. I tried jumping (fence too high) and climbing a couple trees, but there's noway I can see to get to the base. Any help would be nice...THANX

David, I've already posted a big problem I'm having with trying to get to the Clear Sky base, can't get over the fence or find a transition-bubble. I think that when I had to skuttle the helicopter over the church, there were some messages that appeared on the screen that may have given me directions on what to do to get into the base, but as they were in russian I could not understood what to do next after going to that little island and collecting some goodies from a pack-stash. So my question to is, is there going to be any further 'Translations coming out for this fun-mod, or, is there a way that you can share your knowledge of how to to do these translations for myself and what kind of program that is needed to get me started. I'm a retired person, so I've got some time to spend trying to do this. I would really appreciate any help you can provide. THANX....Gunso

Silly question but having taken care of the mercs in cordon with the squad from the bar and flown the helicopter to the north of the cordon and landed it next to the car am i meant to be driving that car somewhere or is it just a landing marker, the guide says that once i land i should have an sms message from voronin, i had a message but as its in russian i cant tell what it says, am i supposed to walk to the bar to see voronin who will then give me a transition to another level or should i get instructions and the transition through a series of sms messages?

OK David E. forget what I had said about getting to the Clear Sky base, cause I had re-read the guide and found that the first 'Black-Hole' artefact that Kostya gives you is to be used right there before going thru the one he creates for you. I guess I blame myself for not understanding the googlish in the guide the first time. Now, for my mistake, I'm having to restart a New-Game, good thing this is a FUN game... Gunso

You have to walk to the bar, the car is just a landmark. The transition to the bar should be on your PDA it's the gate by the guard post.

Hi - need a helping hand...

I've got to the "Kill the sniper" mission:
Takes a position on the tube (to get into the pipe jump to the tent with her on the tree, the tree on the roof, the roof of the pipe), the exchange of SMS. Binoculars do not touch, look through the scope SVD "Tiger".
Sniper appears in a northwesterly direction (the direction of the radioactive ravine near the bunker Sidorovicha), destroy the sniper and go report to Igor.


But have no idea where I'm supposed to go to wait for the sniper.

You need to climb on to the building to the east of fanatic, get to the top of the chimney and make a hard save, using the svd look north west and you will recieve i think 3 sms messages and then the sniper will appear, you will need to be quick, i suggest making a hard save before you get the sms messages as it took me a few goes to do this

Ok... I'm stuck again! I'm stuck trying to kill Hog in the Dark Valley.

I've talked to Bullet at 20:00 in the Dark Valley overlooking the 'unapproachable' complex - and I don't understand at all what I need to do...

All help welcome!

As an aside - I've been tweaking the English translation txt, and the guide document, here and there to make the game playable for the non-Russian speakers amongst us. I'll happily share once 'finished'...

Once bullet gives you the job to kill borov (hog) walk towards the fence near bullet and along it (ne i think) until you either see a medkit on the floor or get a message, take your binoculars out and you will see borov walk out onto a roof top, take out your sniper rifle and kill him and report back to bullet, you cant go into the bandit base yet so dont try

Stuck again...

I'm going back through the MOD to check my updated english txt files... and I'm stuck in Agroprom, unable to open the return transition to Garbage...

I've defended the base from the mercs, the general survived, and I've talked with Lebedev too...

The general said "Here, near one of the rubble, is an activator" - so do I need to find a device to open the return transition/path? If so, where the heck is it...

One immediate question - did you have a fully working Return of Scar modded ShoC before applying this update?

Post the last bit of the log file here... but if it mentions 'xrGameSpy.dll' at all, then there has been a problem contacting the GameSpy server - which will crash SHoC even before it's started - with or without any mods applied - I've certainly had problems over the last few days, including the 7th Dec...

Today this GameSpy issue seems to have been resolved, but if you still see it, unplug your computer from the internet and try again.

Also, do remove (rename) the gamedata folder, and revert to your original xrGame.dll (which you may have updated to play this mod). And see if ShoC still crashes after that.

I've just re-applied the mod afresh in this order, to a ShoC game at Patch 1.0004
1. Main mod WPAM.7z
2. cumulative patch 2
3. Iloveshoc Translation
4. Henry1491 Translations

And the game starts fine, so let me know how you get on!

Great thanks Gunso - I found the stash... and I've discovered a 'thing'... I have two run-throughs going in parallel (ish) and for both when I return to the Marsh one of the two 'bubbles' has vanished, and if you walk through the remaining one 'quickly' you don't get ported... but go slowly, and maybe back and forth in the bubble, and hey-presto the transition fires and you travel to Clear Sky base!!!

It includes all of henry1491's work and just a subset of the original set of Eng files.

So a build would need the original translations and then henry1491's Eng files on top.

It's only alluded alas - but you need to buy a sleeping bag (the first opportunity is from Sidorovich in Cordon) as sleep is what you need - the caffeine drinks work, but only for a while. Jim if you're bogusly stuck here let me know - I have a tweak not included in the zip that I made for this, as I hit the exact same problem you have!

V2 includes v1 - sorry I forgot to say this explicitly in any documentation - and just to be clear, I have edited all of the files included, if I didn't edit them, they're not included. If you're curious - open them up in notepad++ and search for 'SPLAT', as I comment most of what I do.

Hope you're all enjoying the mod - I think it's an amazing job by the modders!

i love this mod, and i think the developers did a great job. The game crashes sometimes,but nothing serious - until now.

I had this exact problem - make sure that you have renamed the folders names gamedata\textures\PRO\ÀÊ108\... to gamedata\textures\pro\ak108\...

Do make sure that the new folder names are in lower case!

This modification is put on a clear game PM (optional license), patched to version 1.0006

1) archive with the mod, unzip to a folder, and the folder gamedata, should be placed in the root folder of the game,
making sure that there are no other gamedata except archival gamedat game.

2) From the set of pure fashion - Return of Scar, in the folder gamedata, delete the entire folder shaders

3) Unpack the archive with a cumulative patch - 3. Next, place the gamedata folder to the root of the game and agree with the replacement.

So, after doing this again and again, starting the level probably five times now, the AI seems to be screwing me over. I've killed the Mercs who attacked the small base, their helicopter too, and they ( the military ) won't go out of alert mode. If I save, then reload they'll at least move a little bit and shoot at the ground or something, then stop again, rendering the next task of talking to the commander again incomplete.

I can only get them to momentarily move by reloading, but it just starts up again the same. I'm using the main mod, fix 2, the machine translation and henry's atop that, nothing else and nothing modified.

Unfortunately I'll have to stop playing since there's no other way to progress, even after looking the guide. Any suggestions?

Oh, odd bug, too. One time while trying, I think the 3rd go, the exo-suited mercs ( not the SEVA ones ) seemed invincible, three RPG's and two hundred rounds plus nearly fifty of 5.45 AP did not a thing. Was using the gifted AN-94 the commander gives you, so most were head shots.

It's an enjoyable mod, just cant get past this part.

I know what you mean - I suffered the exact same symptoms. The bad news is that until you have killed all the attackers the mission won't complete and the guys at the base won't go out of 'attack' mode.

What seems to happen is that the last attacker goes into panic-mode and runs away from the fight - and you won't find him in the base, nor even necessarily near the base.

Use the direction the defenders are pointing - and go looking for the last attacker - I found one in the swamp, way North of the base. I had to retry this mission a few times to finally find the last attacker.

On the plus side, rest assured you've not hit a dead-end bug!

I've played enough S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mods to guess this was the issue, and so I went all over the map, and killed any Merc I could find, but it didn't solve the issue unfortunately.

This seems to be nearly a universal issue with most S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mods, so I think that I'll just give it a rest for now. One of the odd issues were the guys pointing straight up into the sky, or down into the ground with their guns. Maybe I'll try going to kill anything they might see as hostile, there's still dogs and maybe a Bandit running around.

P.S. - Killed a few more mercs over past the tunnel, Pseudodogs and Fleshes and was finally able to talk with the Commander and move on. The AI in these games have ESP.

Should be patched to 1.0004 not 6 as far as I remember. Also, there should be no "gamedata" folder merging, the only "gamedata" folder should the the unzipped one from the mod. Since it's an xrcore error, I'm guessing it's just a patch issue. Good luck!

Hello and welcome, A bugtrap does not help someone here to solve a crash . You need to go to the logs folder that is next to your saved games folder and screenshots folder. One of the files in the logs folder can be opened using a program like notepad or notepad++. Scroll to the end of the file and post the Fatal error segment instead of the Bugtrap message as that provides the required info. If you have more problems in the future do this so someone can help you. Good luck.

You need to use the xrGame.dll that comes with the mod. It's required for scopes that have heat detection like on the SVD 'Tiger'.

Hard to find weapons stolen stashes - how to fix

I've noticed that rare weapons do go missing from the established 'stashes' - even if you add a GPS marker.

What seems to work is buying and using backpacks and establishing your own stashes - even if they are near NPCs, the contents don't seem to get stolen.

@Stalkerstein, an observation with Stalker Dialogue Helper.
I found that version 4.1 works quite well with the "text\rus" files but when used with "gameplay" files it causes strange behaviour (eg quest markers don't show up on the PDA or HUD) and crashes in the game. For this I used v1.5.1 with only the <text> box ticked

It might have something to do with colors

instead of this: %c[255,1,255,255]

might have the first comma missing or replaced with another character.

maybe this: %c[2551,255,255]

or this: %c[255 1,255,255]

or this: %c[255;1,255,255]

etc.

Dialogue Helper Issue

@Stalkerstein,

I used the Dialogue Helper V4.2 when translating files for "Clear Sky Time For Change v2.0". There were a couple of translated files that caused crashes. The main one - st_items_weapons.xml - I have a link for below so you can have a look at it:

I found two anomalies in this file that the dialogue helper can't handle:

Example (1) Line 285 - missing text

Everything from the "&" on after Heckler is deleted in the translation. Somehow the "&" is an active element.

Example (2) Line 406 - causes crash

<string id="st_wpn_wincheaster1300_descr">
<text>Гладкоствольное помповое ружье американского производства, созданное для применения в самых неблагоприятных условиях и отличающееся высокой надёжностью. Все детали снабжены антикоррозионным покрытием.</text> </string>

While this works in the original Russian, because there is no linefeed character before the "</string>" this gets translated as:

<text>Smooth-bore shotgun American-made, created for use in the most adverse conditions and high reliability. All items are provided with anti-corrosion coating. /string</text>

We were hoping to, but the Russian translations are atrocious.
Hence this mod has been very painful to say the least.
I should add that this mod is very good, but definitely difficult.

Sorry, not a disk I meant the teleporter device the dog leads you to. To enter X18 you need documents from the bandit base, it's a mission from Drill (DV guy in the building near the gate to Cordon transition). in one playthrough I found the documents before getting the mission. Best to get the mission first in order to avoid trouble.

To me it looks great. I thnk you should not worry so much about it being 100% perfect. This is beyond better than anyone could expect.

Above is the log I get when trying to go from the bar to wolfs lair, the game had played flawlessly up to this point but now I am stuck and would be grateful if anyone can let me know how to overcome this problem, thanks in advance

Almost always a graphics problem. You try reloading a previous save, and/or change your graphics lighting setting. Static usually solves the problem.

Look's like a weapons problem. The ÀÊ should be AK.
Go to the textures/PRO folder and copy the AK108 folder somewhere and rename it to ÀÊ108, then copy it back to textures/PRO. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

I have not used all the weapons nor their accessories so there could be some problems.

Hi - I sorted this exact problem out in my tested translation & patch ages ago:

This failure isn't related to the player's use/ownership/accessories of the weapon, it's a feature of the map & spawns.
