i think the whole subject of multi-part stories is cack. They're ment to be short stories (i don't mean 100 words or anything) but if you have 3 stories that are all 30-50 pages long, you could almost call it a novel. I've never read any sequel to any of the stories, and to be honest, it's because i don't find that the tension in them could last so long.

Well, Mr... Matorx (forgive me if I spelled it wrong) , my story is 4 part. I had done 3 part ( The first one really sucks, I finally realise it.) so I posted another one as a sequel and a third one still re-editing. The fourth one is still on the way. The length for now? 126 on printed A4 scale. Call that a novel?

Creating a tension isn't that easy. You have people of different kinds and taste to judge you. Unless you are Tom Clancy or other writer, creating a long tension is not easy as cack (or cake). Go ahead and try to do a two part story, and you'll see the result. I am not insulting you, but this is too true....

And for sequel parts? There are many people who had seen their work in the top ten and stop writing.

If creating tension is hard, then why not settle with going for a shorter story? I'm not calling a 126 page story a novel but i'm not calling it short either.

Also, that "write your own story then and you'll see" thing is hilarious in my mind. I'm the reader, not the writer. Although i've been planning on writing one... but that's irrelevant.

matrok, still as a reader you claim to know how to do things better. as a consequence if you know how stories are to be done "correctly" then automatically you can take the role of the author.

Yo, mr Ian Clements, your story is up. But odd though, the notification for update ain't up yet. This story is in the Lit. Contest section, newest dates (i.e 2/10 ). I can't wait for my two story to be post up!

Thanks Amoki, I can see it up there, needless to say I was pretty excited after all this time.

Now that GSC have a new site moderator I think we can look forward to more regular updates, hopefully they might take a look at some of the spam dumped into the 'comments' section of certain stories too - It's all good.

Well, Ian C, I truly feel sorry for you, to think that your story, what I consider as top-ten quality, was dragged down by a couple (to be honest, a lot of moronic characters) of people who find they didn't like your story from the top-ten list.

I will admit it's not a great feeling, but what really gets me is that if a new writer didn't know it was others awarding lazy grades then they'd be really hurt by such harsh marks ( and, as I said in my petition statement, might never write again as a result ). It's the main reason I hope my petition gains support, putting your writing up on a website to be judged like this takes a lot of courage, and it's utterly unacceptable that it may not be quality of the story that shoots you down but rather how flawed the system is.

As for it being many moronic characters, it could just be the same guy manipulating the system to vote me down every time I get into the top 10 ( whenever I'm out of the top ten the marking down of my story immediatly stops ), because when you're in the top 10 your story is more visible and therefore will gain more attention ( something this chap seems to be afraid of, for it to remain up there for so long last night was quite amazing - maybe my nemesis was stuck in detention after school ).

I've almost finished Part 3 but I won't be uploading it until the competition changes, besides the petition it's about the only kind of objection I can use, I'll let folk know when it's available and if you want a copy I'll e-mail it out to you.

I certainly can't wait to read your story. You could actually post it up on the forum like you did with part 1, and like I did with Kill or be Killed. I liked how I got good comments and honest ratings. However, if you do not wish to do it this way, I will ask that you email it to me at: Wyverninc@juno.com

Thanks a lot, I loved the previous two installments.

Good point, putting it in the forum will allow good coverage for those who want to read it while still allowing me to veto the contest, I'll post it up on here as soon as it's ready.

put me in your list too, mate. But I wouldn't be reading them too soon though- My Form 5 SPM national exam is just two weeks to go. And since I am a science stream student, I have to work hard to get the grades.
