Quick Question: Non-Weapon Model Importing

Okay so I've modelled a bunch of new ammo box models with textures for Shadow of Chernobyl. I have SDK 0.4 installed, the Actor Editor works fine, etc, but for the life of me I can't find any useful tutorials on how to export my models for use as physical objects, i.e. for ammo box replacement models. Plenty of tutorials for importing animated weapon HUD models though. :/

I'm using 3ds Max 2012 with xRay 3dsMax tools (not sure what version so screenshot is here: http://puu.sh/6TeuV.png

I can export the models as statics fine but that's not what I need, exporting them as skin objects seems to break Actor Editor on import, and I've been told I might need to add bones or something to the model before exporting to .object format, so some help would be appreciated.
