I finished the main storyline, but what now? How can I unlock the new locations?

Sorry to ask, but currently I'm using StalkerSoup and the loading times are just so incredibly long that it's ruining the game for me. Is there a version of this mod that doesn't have huge amounts of textures and weather effects, etc.? Just the mod stripped down to its core is what I'm after, I guess. I could also do without the huge amount of extra miscellaneous items, except the ones actually used in quests.

I don't mind installing a Russian version of the mod as long as I can get a hold of the English translation files. I just need something that's not so heavy on my system. Maybe it's the scripts that really are slowing down loading times, but I can live without the textures and special effects regardless.

I finised the main story, tried to go back to the bar, but I can't go back from Radar to Whare houses. The only places I can go are Chernobyl, Prypiat and Radar that's it .

You guys have any ideas ?

There are a number of tasks that must be done to open new areas--for example, you must take the job from Fanatic to protect the rookie village from the mercs to open up the swamps--also various documents can be found that open new ways, too many to list! In Radar, look around the dead scientist close to the locked door where the sniper sits the first time through and in the trailer by the tunnel; then, check your pda diary and encyclopedia for 'transitions found'

The guide is a must:

Good luck

I am running Stalkersoup version of this mod, with all the "fancy" textures removed (i.e. I removed all the textures that replaced the Vanilla ones, except for the UI - and that was about 2GB) as well as having ran "texture-optimizer" and unfortunately my loading time has not decreases even the slightest

the problem is that the original (Narodnaya Soljanka, which is what this thread is about) has even longer load-times (about 20 seconds longer in the same spot, for me) and it's always been my main concern with this mod as well

Thank you Wulfric. I want to experience all of his without braking it, so I started over, but reading the forum, I found that the colonel under the bridge can give you quest also and he was shooting on site.

So I decided to read all 500 posts (I am at post 50 now and still taking notes) first, I will avoid spoilers, but I'm looking carefully at quest opportunities and not to brake the game.

A big question, so that I wont regret investing more hours later
I got the standard AMK Narodnaya Soljanka with the latest patches + translation and that's it. Is this the best version to play? I'm looking for doing the vanilla storyline (properly) and then to go free roaming and stalking for many hours and hours in a stable envrinmont and to do some side quest? Play stalker like I would play Morrowind.

Or is it better to go for DMX DKZ or STALKER SOUP for the experience I'm looking for?

To maintain good relations with the military at the bridge, you must pay the toll--they want Cossack's vodka to let you through. Don't shoot at them, or try to run past them, or otherwise be aggressive. You can trade with the Lt.--he also has a job that will get you the transmutation device, an awesome gadget.

The basic NS is pretty solid, long load times and inexplicable crashes from time to time, but it can be played with Win XP.

To play DMX, you need a strong computer Win7x64 with a strong graphics card. DMX versions have a 'Soul Cube' quest, which is cool.

DKZ's mod isn't supported any longer, but it's certainly playable. STALKERSOUP is a BETA mod, so it's out there for testing purposes. I played Boutch 71's DMX 1.34 English version all the way to the 'true' ending, with no game-breaking crashes.

This mod and its offspring is huge. I don't know how anybody could play this without consulting the guide(It helps with figuring out how transitions are opened, gives many pictures/screenshots of quests, tips for what order to do jobs, which characters are important, etc.)--there are so many plot strands/quests/jobs that you'll be a busy stalker for a while!

Good luck

Thanks for the reply Wulfric, I'm not worried about system requirments my pc is good. The things

I'm worried about are bugs, game-breaking problems and good free roaming experience. So reliability .

So would you recommend me DMX + Boutch more then standard NS for the things mentioned about?

The Vanilla NS is still great, and while "buggy," it all works correctly, with a little tweaking in some places. Many have played it to the end successfully.

If you can get all of the parts, I'd recommend Boutch 71's DMX 1.34. His last patch is necessary. Not all of the side quests work properly, but the ones that matter (transitions opened, rewards given, etc.) do work.

It's a matter of personal preference, but I like the way it looks (except for the electro anomalies); I like the Zone a bit brighter, but others don't.
