Stalking 101 & It's a Wild, Wild World (Day 5 & Entry 2 revised)

http://www.thezone.randombs.net/diary/day_5.php
http://www.thezone.randombs.net/diary/day_5_2.php

Jebus, another long one! After editing the next "chapter" it became very apparent that it was WAAAAYYY too long. So I split it into two parts. Day 5 is now split into two chapters, the first: Stalking 101, and the second: It's a Wild, Wild World.

I hope if you're reading the changes as I make them you're liking them - because it's a fuckton of work. Give me some comments so I know that I'm not epic failing a complete re-write here!

Okay, dont worry! Screw the epilogue, just start the sequel. ASAP!!!

Pick up where this one left off, and just go back to the stalkers trying to get by in the zone with some new factions perhaps...

Please!!!!!!

Hehe, I like your style. Tell you what, I'll give you the required epilogue somewhere between editing and give you some news on a possible sequel once I'm done. I'm trying to give myself some time to listen to the community for some ideas before I do ANYTHING else - but it's been pretty quiet around here so I'm not sure what will happen. One thing at time I suppose.

Anyway, thanks again for your input.

The Zone: Life and Death - Into the Garbage (Day 4 revised)

http://www.thezone.randombs.net/diary/day_4.php

*Whew* this one took FOREVER - I didn't realize how much work it would be to add all these details and restructure things the way I have... Oo

Anyway - "Into the Garbage" or what you knew as "Day 4" if finally finished and posted! I put a TON of work into revising this one and I think you'll enjoy the extra details plus complete reformat I did of certain parts (most noticeably I removed the "story mode" and completely re-wrote it in the standard PDA format present through most of the story).

NOTE: Your eyes are not playing tricks on you - Day 2 has been deleted. Remember that I merged Day 1 and 2 into the same chapter and combined them as "First Entry".

No way in hell is that the end!!!! Keep writing its too good to stop, however also too good to spoil. At least give us some hint as to what happens and epilogue of sorts you know a reunion with Enigma and Co.
It is such a good story, great work on these latest parts.

PLEASE

I will not be swayed! You can't have it dammit! YOU CAN'T HAVE IT!!!

But wait... what is this... in my revision I included a prologue but no epilogue? Can it be that I have doomed myself to write an obligatory epilogue to wrap up certain other details that were supposed to be under the radar! MY GOD... WHAT HAVE I DONE!!! NOOOOO!

So I guess I'm writing an epilogue to add at the end of the last entry. The only question remains: what can I write about that won't foreshadow anything on a possible sequel. Any ideas before I get to it?

^ Nice! I remember back in school there were a few games I was involved in making. None of them ever got close to being finished besides some of the ones I made myself, but even then it was too much work and I had to surrender it to other things.

Hell yeah, I'd enjoy being able to do something more community-involving. I've still got all this time between jobs and I feel like I've sealed myself in a tomb now that the story has an ending. I've still got some editing to do but it's more reading than writing at this point since the first two chapters are the ones that needed the most revision.

I've never been involved in any community-type writing, so any suggestions you have I'll gladly listen to.

That's great to hear - I probably wouldn't have gotten the final nudge to start writing myself if it hadn't been for the dedication of the community back when. It's funny that you mention the plot the way you did as that was actually one of the ideas I had myself for another story (don't worry, you can have it ). If you need any advice or ideas I'll be around. Good luck with it.

This idea I've had for a long time, even before I played SoC,back when me and some friends were making a horror adventure game based on "A roadside picnic",but we got to busy with school,we got separated, and the game now lies somewhere on an old hard disk, less than a quarter done, buggy as hell and half the plot written.

PS: It would be nice for both of us to make such stories,it would be interesting to see two different ideas of the beginning of The Zone

^ Wow, that's interesting. It looks like I'm gonna have to look through the database files myself to see what kind of interesting leftovers they included. ^_^

Thanks for the map - I got it, I just need to install Photoshop to edit the file. I'll need to get all the other maps in CS too now that I think of it so that'll be my next task in-between editing the story.

@Everyone

Check out the new PDA texture on the main site. The "modifications" I made turned out nicely. >

EDIT: Hey guys, I'm need of the largest resolution/quality map of Limansk. I got most of the maps and textures I'm currently using on the website directly from the database files SoC is stored in, but I haven't bothered looking to see if CS works the same way. If there's any way I could get my hands on a nice texture of the map without any markings or anything so I can play with it that would be awesome.

Yeah, the new PDA looks nice. It looks like as if another Stalker or other people found it lying on the ground after a long fight.

I'll send it to you through e-mail (If the file size is small enough), it's 512x1024 in the unpacked CS database.

E: Lookie what I've found in the CS database, named map_jupiter thats going to be in Call of Pripyat.

@Vartuoosi Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! If you want something to do in the meantime there's a list of things I'm still trying to accomplish, such as trying to get some reviews from the community and maybe a question and answer page where I answer the most popular questions about the story.

@HoboRebellion Pretty gnarly, eh? I noticed I needed to do some catching up on the website and thought the PDA could use a makeover since the story is over now.

Such a great story is always enjoyable.Actually,I enjoyed this so much that it inspired me to start writing one myself. It'll be about the beginning of the zone, before all sorts of stalkers started to flood the zone, when the zone was a secret and scientists and the military barely started exploring it.
