Attention Stalkers!

---QUOTATION---
and I thought this story would be 18+

Ha.

Good, still advancing the plotline, lots of action this time around.

It was short, but good.

Yep, short and sweet is what I was going for; the calm before the storm. The final chapter is already 3 times as long and I'm not even halfway done yet.

@Everyone

Well... since we're getting close to the end here, I'm going to try and get as many fans as I can to check out my story. I feel like it should remain a piece of the community and not just something I wrote for any form of recognition. But if I can get both, why not? So I'd like to ask you to spread the story around as it concludes, that way we can look back at the story together and let other Stalkers out there share in the adventure that we had together.

So share this with your friends, parents, grandparents, pets, or anyone else you can and lets see if we can't re-awake some people to the awesome atmosphere of this game. If in 400+ pages not one of them stands out to them, then I must be the worst fan fiction writer ever to stain a forum.

Once the story is done, I don't plan to pack up and leave. Oh no! I still have a lot of ideas that need exploring when it comes to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe. So let's let the story go out with a bang and keep the adventure going!

Anyway, I've got some shit to write, don't I? Thank you all for your support over the last couple of years - don't stop now!

I was wondering when you'd show up to see what Reaper was up to. I think he's unofficially the favorite character in the Zone right now. (Poor Virtue... *tear*)

Simplest way to put it: trauma. It should make more sense by the end of things.

Wow. Literally, wow. I have read the whole diary today (instead of doing an essay ) and by about page 10 I was honestly wondering if you are a professional author. A) The actual grammar and spelling, plus the storyline is perfect and B) That is a hell of a lot of work you have put into it. I just want to see more now.

I wish the real game could be as indepth as this though. Seriously words won't express how awesome this diary has been. You should publish it

The Final Chapter (no release yet, just news)

Well... thanks! I really appreciate that, and I'm glad you've enjoyed it so far.

I've been thinking about maybe submitting it to a few other sites, I've really come to enjoy writing recently so I might start working on some other projects after this one (I'll definitely do more Stalker-related, rest assured)

@Everyone

Alrighty... how about some news about where I'm at now and what my plans are, eh?

Here's the one spoiler I'll give you for the ending. Ready for it?
It will blow your mind, then kick your ass.
I've finished (after countless hours of constant writing) Day 13 - Entry 2. It's 27 pages and perfectly places my writing so far at 450 pages!!! Oo...

As I said before, I plan to release the entire ending (it will end up being split into 2 chapters) together instead of each piece at a time just to wrap things up a better. Once again, bring all the friends/family you can now so I can decide what I want to do and get some feedback from more people about the story.

Once I'm done with the actual writing, there's still quite a bit of work I plan to do before I consider it a finished work. The To Do list is as follows:

1. Re-write the first 2 chapters to open the story up more to a non-ST.A.L.K.E.R. audience (remember that the first two parts were releases entirely as fan fiction, I didn't even fathom the possibility of writing 450+ pages then).

2. Globally format everything to a standard and revise dialog/scenes/plot holes where needed.

3. Add in "deleted scenes" and author commentary on where some of my ideas came from (man, I sure pile the work on myself don't I?)

4. Possibly some alternate endings too since there were A LOT going through my head (dammit... must stop myself before head explodes...)

5. And HOPEFULLY - and this is dependent on you guys - I would like to add in some REVIEWS also. Yes, that means YOU! So if you would like to review the story, or contribute anything else to it, NOW IS THE TIME!

6. Credits/Thanks. I intend to heartily thank everyone who contributed and kept me going for the past couple of years (has it really been that long?). Those of you who contributed characters/biographies will also be credited because you're awesome beyond words. ^_^

Well... that's all I can think of for now. I plan to have the final release out in a day or two, so use that time to help me out with the above list if you possibly can! Once again, I can't thank you all enough for being supportive of me and my writing throughout the entire process. For those of you with characters; it was almost like being in the Zone with you. Creepiness aside, thanks again.

Now you and I have got work to do, don't we? *nudge nudge*

Extremely excited about all of this man.

I'm really glad that this has become probably the most well-written and probably the most popular fan fiction on the website.

Grats to you, and I cant wait to read some more of your work in the future.

The Zone: Life and Death - Final Entry

http://www.thezone.randombs.net/diary/day_13_2.php
http://www.thezone.randombs.net/diary/day_unknown.php

It's finished! The adventure is finally at an end. I hope it was as much an adventure for you all as it was for me writing it.

Once more, words can't express my gratitude for those of you who contributed to the experience and encouraged me along the way. I hope you enjoyed the situations your characters were in as well as their interactions with the characters I created. But most of all, I hope you all enjoyed the adventure, and that... just maybe... you could feel yourself in the Zone and put yourself in their shoes as they fought (and in some cases died) for their individual missions.

Whatever feeling or lesson it left on you, it's been a real privilege to share it with you.

I'm going to finish revising as stated on the list I posted and then move on to whatever the future has in store. If you liked the story, share it with someone you know. I couldn't have made it this far if it wasn't for the ongoing support of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. community.

Finally, remember that I released the last 2 parts together, the first being the conclusion while the second is an epilogue of sorts. Here is the summary + preview for the first part:

This is it, Stalkers. At long last, the final battle for the fate of the Zone and the entire world is thrust upon us. What battles await the Stalkers as they fight desperately to destroy the military's command center within the Chernobyl NPP? Can Virtue severe their link to the outside world and the monsters in the Zone by killing Dmytro and finding the source of his power - or will he fail and die along with his companions; alone and forgotten?
___________________________________________________________

*Every every foot feels like an inch, every sound is an announcement of his position. Virtue crawls quickly through the air duct, trying to stay focused on his mental map of what he’s seen of the NPP so far. Sweat drips down his face as the heat from his body threatens to cook him alive in the crowded duct. He can’t tell whether the creaks and squeals are from his weight on the duct or other unseen dangers somewhere nearby.

As he crawls, he remembers the look of confusion on Emilia’s face when he looked at her; like she had no idea who he was. Why couldn’t she? They had been married for long… had he really been gone for that long? Nearly two weeks… had he changed so much that she couldn’t recognize him? That had to be it… come to think of it, he hadn’t seen his own face in a mirror for that length of time, there’s no telling what he looked like now.

What would he tell her of the experience when they finally went home? Would he share all of his experiences with her? Like how it felt when he jumped the fence and looked into the distance at the desolation in front of him, and the irony in knowing it was his only real hope at survival. Would he tell her of the first time he held a weapon in his hand… how it felt when he killed the bandit in the car park? Sparing Nimbus’ life, assisting the Stalkers against a Bandit raid, the horror at seeing the dead walk in Yantar, the secrets of X16, falling into an anomaly that took him to the dead city Limansk…

He holds his head in pain. He met someone there… someone who had feelings for him. Someone who helped him and Nimbus escape. Why was it so hard to remember her? He shakes it off; his headache slowly drops in intensity. He begins to feel dizzy – maybe the lack of food, water, sleep, or blood finally catches up to him.*

Virtue: Can’t stop now… must keep going…

*The sides of the duct start to roll from side to side as he moves. He begins to feel sick to his stomach. Claustrophobia sets in. He collapses suddenly, his body feeling like a thousand pounds. The duct agrees; it collapses under his weight. He slides out, no energy left in him to break his fall. He lays sprawled out on the floor beneath him.

A bad taste is in his mouth. He quickly sits up and vomits as he realizes that a spoonful of dust on the floor has just entered his mouth. He coughs violently, the measly contents of his stomach stare back at him.

Suddenly a growling noise sounds near him. He springs to his feet, his gun bouncing back and forth in his hands as he weaves from side to side, trying to keep his balance. He looks down. It must have been his stomach. He hopes it was. He takes a look at his surroundings. A corridor, somewhere outside the maze leading to the Military’s command center in the NPP. He walks slowly forward, trying to figure out where he is in his mental map of the facility, but mostly he’s just distracted by his own shadow, watching the gun in his hands shaking.

He keeps walking, the shaking doesn’t stop. He blinks as his shadow on the wall starts to blur in the light cast from a small hole above him. As he returns to dimmer light, his shadow returns – but something is different. He looks closely in confusion. He can make out his outline, the gun in his hands… but there’s something else, something larger.

He swivels around quickly, nearly falling over as he attempts to make sense of the dark hallway behind him. His vision is blurred, so he squints but sees nobody behind him. He looks at the wall beside him again – the shadow remains. The silhouette is similar to his, although a good foot or two taller. "What is it?", he thinks to himself.

While reading the story, I think I've found a typo.

memories in your brain to erase anything that could dead back to us and your life here.

(The word in bold) I think "dead" is "lead"?

EDIT: It's in Day 13 Entry 2, C-Con part.
