they could have been very buggy, or they might have felt it was very degenerative of gameplay, cant have too much of a good thing too much anomaly collision?

at the end of the day, the first mod to come out will be to put vehicles back in (vehicles which gsc intend to leave in for someone to mod back in)

...

If they had the vehicles in there in the first place, then what does it have to do with compensating for time?

Stalkers are assumed to carry small personal models of anomoly detectors .... powered by 4AAA batteries or whatever.
So this model has a short range but adequate as stalkers only walk or run.

A vehicle mounted version could have greater range to compensate for speed & the extra power is provided by the cars battery.

So which ever way you examine the problem a solution was available but vehicles were removed nevertheless and an excuse provided which doesn't really sound credible.

The issue is choice. Choosing whether to travel on foot or drive was removed.
For those keen on running about everywhere it's no problem but those who might have enjoyed finding various vehicles, keeping them maintained, acquiring parts or upgrades, getting fuel & NPC interactions associated with vehicles .... they now get nothing and you wonder at how many other similar shortcuts have been introduced.

because if i were driving i'd be going to fast to stop i think the next stalker to come along would just see some skid marks heading into an anomoly

Think about it .... if those AI Ruski army drivers can manage to get an APC through anomolies why cant the stalkers get a car through ?

Solution.
Dashboard mounted anomoly detector
Now if you managed to acquire one then have it installed by Ivan the friendly mechanic .... another quest we missed out on along with driving.

Yeah, or he would not be able to operate the turret at the same time while driving. Make it "Mercenaries" styel, where you have to leave the vehicle and jump into the gunner's seat.

I'm sort of glad the vehicles are out, but at the same time I hate to see them go. I remember reading about vehicles a couple years ago and how you would need to find and carry fuel along. Then fuel got taken out and the vehicles were just left in. Sort of made me a little angry :/ . Now I guess it seems to be alright.

Yeah, I read a report that said one small area of the game has to be traveresd in 20 minutes on foot...
---END QUOTATION---

Really? I heard that there are 18 microareas alltogeather in the game. Even if its a 3x6 type world that still gives us 120 minutes of real time to move from one end to the other.

---QUOTATION---

And I agree with the army patrol not having vehicles. Unrealistic.
---END QUOTATION---

Yeah, even if we consider that the majority of the army units are airmobile forces transported by helicopter, a big task force sent to eliminate a particularly dangerous target would most likely consist of a mechanized column.
As for the player driving an APC in the game... he would most likely quickly draw an attention of an army Mi-24 armed with missiles.

Yeah, I read a report that said one small area of the game has to be traveresd in 20 minutes on foot...that would ruin it if you had to backtrack, or go to your favorite area. Reall,y transport is needed to shorten travel time. And they said that there are too many anomalies to drive fast. Well, drive carefully then.

And I agree with the army patrol not having vehicles. Unrealistic.
