Do you think a stamina bar or anything of the sort would be good to have? |

Actually I don't see the reasons why a multiplayer mode "similar" to singleplayer wouldn't be possible. After all, there are "clans" of stalkers, and then we have the military and scientists. Beasts could still be AI. Just a thought. Maybe in an upcoming patch, depending on how successful STALKER will be? |

I like it how they did stamina in Flashpoint. The stamina value wasn't visible but heard by the pace of your breath.
Half the people you meet are below average.

---QUOTATION--- Online play is based on counterstrike.. and, from what I've seen, it's nearly identical. ---END QUOTATION---
I havent read through the posts...but..the game is going to live off singleplayer....not multiplayer....it sounds like you are one of those typical multiplayer fan boy people who think multiplayer makes every game great....go play TESIV oblivion...it's pure singleplayer and it has one of the larger fan bases for a game around, it has everyone hooked
sure there were a few idiots who wanted to complain about mp, but they never appreciated the fact that the game was made for sp and if mp was incorperated, we'd be waiting another long while for the game to come out.
STALKER is mainly being done for sp, not mp, mp is NOT like cs, it is far more extensive and fun, for one...open ended levels...not restricted to paths like in cs games or most games for that matter, there will be anomolies that randomly pop up around the mp level at certain time intervals, there will be a day/night/weather cycle to boot, aswell as the huge amounts of other things you can do and I can't be bothered explaining because I am stuffed right now and I'm going to die tomorrow...yup....well...later today
meh...i can't be bothered talking anymore...i'm going to fall asleep..yawn...useless thread.
OH..sorry..whoops...after reading the poll for this and a bit of the first post...there will be a stamina bar...and there will be no bunny hoping morons, nor will there be floaty gravity, it will all be good...and you don't have to worry about dolphin divers from bf2, or rocket whores, or any of that....they will all suffer, trust me.

Siege: yeah, it's possible to muddle through and just cheaply kill / steal
control points to victory, but well oiled teams do in fact have a huge
advantage in BF2.
You don't HAVE to have great team skills to win, no, but those who do
tend to win.
I, sadly, suck against real people unless I have a team with me. |

BF2 is all about strategy and teamwork... the team with the most kills doesnt *necessarily* win the match. people who say there is no strategy in bf2 are just oblivious to that level of the game, and often get wtfpwned. This leads to frustration and "OMG bf2 sucks, theres no strategy!" |

---QUOTATION--- Multiplayer is very important for reasons of replayability. Replayability is an important feature for reviewers, which in turn affects game sales... so, in short, everyone cares about multiplayer.
Ah, multiplayer...
STALKER has some great potential for online/Lan play. It could be close range craziness, slow and tactical snipe-fests, or hey, maybe even some stealthy... stalking?
But really, I love multi, but I've also had enough with the "Frag-fest" generation. I want to see STALKER turn out to be a mix of Battlefield 2 and Counter-Strike. Large environments for sniping and dark indoor areas for stealth/tactical firefights. No running at full speed with a chaingun, mowing down enemies while jumping, rocket launcher spamming... You see what I mean ---END QUOTATION---
I do see what you mean. Many aspects of CS and BF bore me to death. The only real things I like about either of those games are the accurate weapon modelling and open environments. Those two games require little skill and tactics in order to achieve a win.
In 2005, World of Warcraft destroyed the lives of millions of seemingly normal people, plunging them headlong into a virtual world of might, magic and adventure. It's alluring ease of play and eloquent interface sucked the souls and stole the lives of businessmen, housewives, teachers, the young and the old...Set your watches forward to 2012. Stalker Coreleases with its pentultimate mod: Stalker of Warcraft! The great Dwarven nuclear reactors have malfunctioned, sending Azeroth into a global apocalypse. Can you survive in this bleak, twilight world? Strap on your gasmasks and embark on the ultimate quest: The quest to find another living soul so that you don't lose your mind!
Hey, you find a better idea for a mod.

Ninjas are very important to the whole eco-bio-death-o-sphere. I mean, if you get rid of all the wolves, you got a freakin' whole lot of bunnies... and by "bunnies", I mean stupid people. -Ninja (askaninja.com)

Multiplayer for Stalker is like an advanced verison of CS. Since objects will move and you got random causes of death and i believe there is a day and night cycle? who cares players will just stop caring about MP and just keep reliving the Single Player to figure out all the ending =P

well yes what you said about the story etc.. seems to make sense,
i think i lost the whole point of my thread, it was to make multiplayer not just a place were people bunny hop everywere,
i want the multiplayer to still be realistic. I want thwe multiplayer to be COMPLETELY the opposite(regards movement) of WOLF T, becuase those who played it willknow, bunny hop, jump and the sort to survive.
Is the multiplayer like that? |

---QUOTATION--- Yeah, sniper, but the original poster says that "...the game wil basicly live on multiplayer...".
So looks like not everyone knows... ---END QUOTATION---
well no matter how hard you try the AI will never be as good as it will be on multiplayer, becuase well those are real people. so might aswell make the multiplayer as good as the singleplayer. after i finish the game,(already picturing myself with it ) i probibly wont do the game again just to see the other endings
(right now all i want to do is intall stalker, build a small room with only a slit for area, get a life time supply of nachos and salsa deep, glue myself to the chair and my hand to the mouse, glue the power button so i cant switch off and play till my eye dissolve, if i still have this mentality i`ll do all 8 of them)
BUT i might not feel like so i would like to still keep that stalkerish type gameplay on the multiplayer or at least soem maps with it and some without.
i dont want the whole stalker expierence to finish with the multiplayer cuase you only trully notice the environment effects and etc... while stealthing around or lets put it this way, not just emptying whole rounds into someone.
i can already see it now.
a few kills and they go some money, another few kills and they can afford that beautifully detailed minigun, god knows how we will notice the environment with everyone litrealy jamming the mouse button so that the gun spins faster. and with all this thing of penetration, richocets etc... i can only imagine how good mgs will become.
i just want the idea of you can still choose wether to stalker or strike in multiplayer, ofc not to a certain extent but i still would like to do it,
who ever played WOLF T can say thats its close to impossible to snipe with everyone bunny hopping. do you want the feeling to be completely lost in multiplayer? and from what i have seen our movement speed ingame is pretty fast.
in the end all games continue to live on multiplayer, no matter how good the AI it can never be replace human I. so your eventually going to get bored, however with multiplayer you dont, i still play Dawn of war(without expansion skirmishes) and would play even more if the servers hadnt change to winters assault |

Multiplayer Issues
my first post
so here it is
Since the game wil basicly live on multiplayer we need to make sure its all good and dandy.
I dont want it to become something like wolfenstein enemy territory were you have lots of bunny hoping and the sort. or worse like UT04(still a good game but its made for this sort of stuff so it becomes very good)
sniping will become impossible if everyone is running and jumping to avoid getting hit so i would like the a stamina bar to be implemented, kind of like in the COD(not cod 2) game, there was a stamina bar which showed how much u could run and jump but this repleanised releatively quickly.
it want it to still keep that game feeling but then i dont want it to be full of people jumping and shooting with MGs(CSS comes to mind) then again i dont want it to become just a sniper game.
So unless there already is a stamina bar or something of the sort, Do you think it would be a good idea to have one in? if so any details about how it should be? hopefully they already put one in |
