Dudes , What Do U Think About This ???

Clans. Ok. I want to go out and kill zombies or stalk and observe military base (or old factory that is the base of the rival clan). how can I tell my teammates to wait me in our base or to follow me.or give them orders when we approach a building and we are about to enter and cear the area . I mean something like "Rainbow Six".I tell them "GO IN" the first man opens the door , the second goes in , followed by me , the man that opened the door comes last and..... well u got the idea. or I tell them "wait here and secure the area" , the take positons and hide (behind cars , trash containers , etc. ) and I go in the building . Inside a firefight begins , I radio my team "Taking fire , need assistence" I my shooters come In to help me.
The second issue is with the characters. I remember there was a game (RPG ??) where before game u can choose how ur character looks like. Heigh , body composition ( fat , athletic , thin); without or with hair , hair color , tatoos , clothes ;voice , etc. this is entertaining , I think .
There will be interesting if U can play military STALKER , with ur squad of SPETSNAZ , a team of four or less , deadly , wired , equiped and trained . Your missions will be given to u from a equvalent of the "Dealer" - a Colonel or a General with four stars in a military base. "Go and retrieve ......... artifact from the clan caled ......."
and u go , kill the stalkers ,or surround them , they surrender with or without casualties , give the artifact to u , u go to the base and..... MISSION ACCOMPOLISHED. after 10 misions u will be promoted to a higher rank. Another scenario : the commander-in-chief tell u "Go in that F***in' villige and kill everything that moves , coz we are going to send a contingent from a ordinary soldiers to set up a base ."
well u understand what I'm talking about.
I don't remeber if this was covered before , but can u take hostages , or ...... i mean , u r in the middle of a firefight and the other side starts shouting "cease fire , stop shootin" , u stop the fight , they surrender u take their weapons , artifacts , and if they want , the join ur clan.OR u let them to go away , and next time when u don't expect the kill you

OK
I think that definitely it woul be some way to communicate with your friends. Maybe with pre-defined voice commands or with live voice transmission.

About the character properties. As I know you cannot chane any atribute of your stalker, but don't be sad mods are existing.

Definitely you cannot play military stalker in the game, but it can be also solved by some mod, so don't lose your hope.

And about that surrending.
As I know if you will start to fight with some stalker that have only his sidearm, or he is wounded, or you have surprised him from back, and things like that, he will surrender in some cases (don't turn with your back to him or he will shoot you ), but I dont' know if he can join your clan.

I hope this few lines have helped you.

Well , I wanted to know if u guys like the idea.
One more thing.SLEEPING.I don't get when it's time to sleep. When i was lil kid ,at 19:90 I wached "Nu zaiac , nu pogodi" or another childish movie and went to bed in exactly 20:00.
just kiddin , but is there a sleep meter or something.I don't want to sleep in the middle of operation. IF a man is put in a real life situation , where his own life is in danger , he could stay awake a pretty long time.

If I remeber well, there will be a sleep meter in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

The idea of chaning youre look would be awsome I think. I think it would be very cool and encouraging to be able to make yourself reflect in the way you want into youre self-representing ingame model.

Though in previous multiplayer builds it was possible to pick a character model:

You choose when to sleep, you don't ever have to go to sleep but your aim or something like that is affected. So a good idea would be to sleep right before a mission, thus you won't be affected by sleep deprevation.

Maybe there will be some sort of drug you can take during a mission similer to caffine pills or a drink like Bawls. If a mission goes on for several days, those kinda things would be helpful. Or at least a nightguard to watch you while you sleep.

Sounds like a good idea! Drugs always add both to the feeling of fututure and misery.

Here in Sweden we have a kind of drug called "ryssfemma" (russian five). It's simply anabolic steroids produced in russia at a very low price. Anabolic would be useful to a stalker as it makes the user more aggressive as well as stronger. The side effects are pretty nasty thought, but it takes a while before they are visible.

I mean, what does female breast and shrunk testicles bother you when you've made a fortune from selling artifacts?

To be more precise, you will have female breasts only if you used to take anabolic steroids for a long time and then suddenly stopped. It is caused by deficiency/absence of male hormone testosterone. Your body reacts on long overflow of this hormone(caused by anabolic steroids), by decreasing it's own production in genitals, and then if you have suddenly stopped taking those steroids, you haven't enough of testosterone. Your testosterone balance in your body is than like in body of woman.

As I know you personal carry limit is 46 kg (sth like that) and every another kilogram makes you slower and makes you tired quicker.

does your weight also affect your aim while moving/speed at which your aim recovers after you ran for example?
I think it would be cool if it would a little. Like when you are running packed up to the max with gear, you aim somewhat less accurate then when you have totally no gear and one 1 mag.
Makes the game a little more realistic and makes you think better about how to pack your gear.

I think that the biggest affect on your ability to shoot would be indirectly through your increased respiration and heart rate in real life. It would be nice to see you sort unsteady if you're sucking wind after a sprint.

Simply said : If you run, you are less accurate.

Do not add any science in it.

In Call of Duty 2 you also kind of suck wind after you've ran for some time which could reveal you're position. I think it would be pretty cool if this would be also implemented in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Yeah that would be nice, wouldn't be too hard to fix either as they probably just have one variable for how much sound the player emits.

Dulus, it's in my title over on the left there. Do the math. Kthanx. Peace out.

Imagine how many variables are involved in environmental processing

There's also other circumstancial variables like your relative position if you're processing the speed of sound, and your relative motion, if you're processing the doppler effect. You also have to blend wet and dry output if you're doing environmental effects stuff. You can get as complicated or as simple as you want, really. Games tend to do the complicated thing now-a-days.

why would they have to change anything with environmental processing to put in a different/louder sound?

Also, aren't games usually programmed so that radius is dependant on "noise" level?

edit: what fp shooters have doppler effect processing? and/or what games process speed of sound? (i really am wondering, i haven't played too many games lately..)

You would need to know where the sound was coming from, what type of environment it was in, what type of environment you are in, how it is moving, (or just take a sample of its position every instant).

Not necessarily. Consider environmental sounds such as the ocean or a breeze. This sound is played over a large radius with a small volume.

Most sound in games are compressed compared to its real world equivalents, anyways. Most everything is around the same volume. Its loudness doesn't really have too much of a bearing on how wide spread it is in the 3d environment.

OFP for one. I'm not sure of HL2 did the speed of sound.. it did some distance effect. I actually haven't played many games lately either. But for the wide open environments in stalker, it would be a nice touch.

I guess i'm not the only one who liked the idea of being a military guy in the game, it wouldnt be hard to mod really.
I imagine that like in most games the AI have different species settings and are given a number or a name like monster, human, robot, bird, machine..or each of them different types of characters have a set number like monster could be 1, human could be 2...etc etc.

Say for example that the military in stalker had the number class as "5", or the name class as "military", and the player had some other number like "8", you could edit the file of your character in the game files and change the player/actor class to 5, so then the player would be counted as a military personnell, and then the military would not attack you as you would be classed as one of them...ALTHOUGH, once you have changed your class to a military guy, then all the stalkers in the zone would try to kill you rather than negotiate with you or work with you as a team...but that is ok as you could then edit the military npc files and give them some form of dialogue (that would be the hard part) so as they could give you missions, tell you about places, tell you where they spotted stalkers and things like that.

The NEXT thing to do would be to assign a military skin to your character, which wouldnt be hard as somewhere in the character script file there would be some sortof of texture path which gives the player his original main texture.. like some games, there is usually a line of code that identifies itself as a texture, and there is usually a directory that leads to the texture file or something like that..
So all you would do is replace the name of the texture with the name of the military texture that you want your character to look like.

Then voila you probably have the start of a new and ....simple (if you exclude the dialogue) military mod

As for working as a team...well....i think you would have to find some sort of command script that is given for friendly stalkers, and you would have to give them commands to the military.

You could always do all the above in another way.

Just edit the stalker npc files and change their class to military, and edit the military class to make them into stalkers...although even though they may have all the dialogue and stuff...you will see stalkers waiting at gates and stuff, whilst the military are collecting artifacts and wandering about the zone....it could look wierd don't ya think

I haven't said that the sound system is simple, I said that your posts are complicated enough. OK . They are all right and contain pretty infos, but if I want to understand them I must find some words in vocabulary, coz if you as a native-english-speaker consider those texts a lil bit hard to understand, than imagine us different language than english speakinng people. I appologize for my further post, but I was a lil bit nervous that time. And I hope we will not argue any more ..OUT
