Reviving (possibility to save youre shot mates)

Sorry if this is already suggested, I tried searching yes (pretty handy that search toolbar at the bottom) but couldn't find anything related, I actually wrote this as a lettre I wanted to send to the devolpers, but I changed my mind and though I might as well share it on the forums:

Recently I was playing Call of Duty 2, I was playing a map, I totally didn't like, since I always got shot at the beginning of the round and verything often went wrong. But this time, I played it again, and things went much better. I often was the last left in the round, and won on my own against to other team, even resulting in compliments from my fellow players on my team.
This made me think about it: the fun of one player often goes at the cost of the missery and anger of other players in shooter games. Which made me think about how something could be done about this matter in games, so games would be more fun for everyone. Which reminded me of Battlefield 2, they actually made everyone profit from a frag in Battlefiled 2, since medics are able to revive people ingame, and can earn points with that.

This is actually a pretty ingenious sollution I think. The killer makes a frag and wins a firefight, the medic has an oppertunity to revive the victim, and earn points with it, and the victim itsself lives again, and can learn more easily from its mistakes.

I am a real fan of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. particulary because of its imense amount of possibilties, the work spend on it, the theme and it's realism.
I've read about several kinds of medications for the singleplayer of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but haven't read of heard about this aspect for mulitplayer, and if it's as versatile as in singleplayer, with all kinds of medics for different things.

But I think it would be awesome if there would be some sort of revive tool or kit that you can buy?/find? in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in several gametypes.

Though, for one thing I believe the devolpers of Battlefield 2 made a mistake. That is that it's all very easy and quick to revive someone ingame, with one click you can instantly revive someone if you're close to him. This caused a new kind of "sport" to be born ingame. At the moment, many players in Battlefield 2, make a sport of reviving. Trying to revive as many as possible, just to revive em, so they earn a point, and rush to the next, not caring about if the player they just saved from being really killed, is shot again just a second after he revived him.

If my suggestion is really toke into discussion, I do hope the devolpers will implement it in a different way then in Battlefield 2, because of the above reason. For example, making the reviving, take longer or make it more difficult. For example, by making it somewhat similar to planting the bomb in Counter-Strike, but then by using a revive-kit and reviving a player.
To prevent that the player who is revining somebody is being shot while doing so, you cold for example make it possible to drag the victim out of sight of the enemy by grabbing him by its armor or collar. Although I can understand it would be rather difficult and/or bugprone do make this possible, since (with my little knowledge of gamedevolpment) I think it would be pretty hard to "merge" an dynamic ragdoll model of the shot player together with a fixed animation model of the acting player dragging him over the ground.

But I think it would be awesome to see a stalker being toke down in large firefight, and see his teammate, take cover, lowering his gun and swining it to his back, starting to drag his mate out of the action to a safe and covered place, and reviving him, patching him up, so he's good to go again.

It's an good idea, but i think an player should be healed not revived,

If your dead, your dead no reviving, as i've seen this game IS build upon realism, and reviving an dead player isn't really realistic but healing him well you've got MY vote for that.

The dragging part would be cool but could be hard to apply as you stated to avoid being shot while healing you could drag the player,
I think you would pose an larger target if you dragged him.

So just make it an team work thing 1 covers the medic and the medic heals the guy.

great idea.
I tried to imagine the scene, when one stalker id dragging the another one, and it looks fantastic.
But as SoulThief mentioned, when you are dead you are dead and nobody with any kit could do something about it.
The better way is mentioned healing. But then there is a question. When you are only injured you can still fight/move so the dragging gets away.
My idea is like this:
-You have some amount of health.
-You can survive a few hits (except headshot for e.g.-it will kill you instantly)
-If you catches too much bullets you will fall down, maybe able to shoot but not able to move, maybe your vision will be blurry and so on.....
-Then it is on your mates to drag you away and patch you up
-It should take more then 15 secs (better about 30)
-Now you can move but you have only limited health (for example only 50%)
-

And now it is not sure for me
- you must wait about 1 minute to gain the full health
OR
- After few secs your mates can heal you to full health

BUT THOSE ARE ONLY MY IDEAS, WHICH ARE NOT PERFECT

Dragging could still be used off course it just appears how severe the damage is,

If your like 10 % it would be a damn hard thing to move,
So dragging could still be used,
Just remember that by doing this you render 2 person totally defenseless.

yes thru but the prize is that you could save your mates. It's to the player to dicide if it takes the risk.

You are right about the reviving, dead is dead, about the dragging, it could indeed still be implemented to drag away baldy injured player, but it comes pretty much down to the same thing I think: the enemy first "disables" the player after which he can't move anymore.

some nice idea's, I think we all agree that healing shoudl take time and shouldn't be as easy as in Battlefield 2.

I also had this idea about the healthbar:

A full green healthbar mean 100% health, when you get shot, health is toke, but my idea was that you can have 2 types of damage:
1st: Just injury, what you can't heal, mainly toke when you're hit by bullets, indicated as red in the healthbar.
2nd: Damage that can be healed, you take for example when you face the shockwave of a grenade and splinters and debris fly into your face, or when you fall.

In the healthbar itself, you'd have the green still remaining health at the bottom, the yellow healable injury above it, and the red damage about that.

Kinda like this:
[link]http://www.fatal-silence.nl/images/health 1.jpg[/link]
full health

[link]http://www.fatal-silence.nl/images/health 2.jpg[/link]
after taking some fire.

[link]http://www.fatal-silence.nl/images/health 3.jpg[/link]
after taking some more fire.

[link]http://www.fatal-silence.nl/images/health 4.jpg[/link]
healed again.

[link]http://www.fatal-silence.nl/images/health 5.jpg[/link]
after falling and/or taking a shockwave of grenade

[link]http://www.fatal-silence.nl/images/health 6.jpg[/link]
healed again

[link]http://www.fatal-silence.nl/images/health 7.jpg[/link]
after taking heavy fire from sniper/shotgun or something, lying impaired on the ground, unable to do anything.

[link]http://www.fatal-silence.nl/images/health 8.jpg[/link]
bled to death, completely killed, 1 to deathcount.

This could also make a nice addition when reviving is really implemented: When you die because of any sory of damage, you fall down helplessly, unable to do anything, barely seeing bacuse of red-screen, but you still had some yellow damage in you're healthbar, so you can still be revived, but the yellow damages slowly becomes less and less as you're bleeding yo death, and when it's all red, screen fades to black and youre deathcount goed 1 Shooting the player after he's toke down, bleeding to death, will take away chokes of yellow damage. So when you shoot someone down, you kinda like keep pumping led into him to make sure he STAYS down

I think it would be pretty cool.

By the way, it there anything known about health/healing/med kits or medic items for in multiplayer? I have seen healthbars in most MP screenshots, but also a blue bar, it this you're stamina?

Felix: now that sounds like a good idea.

All talk of helping teammates aside, it would be interesting to be able to
drag a disabled or injured AI stalker aside and give first aid, and so forth.

Can you say allies or connections in a different clan ?

im still thinking about the idea but if uoy fall high enough to be injured then you must have breaked some of the bones and it cant be healed in a preety long time and if youre shot then in real life you cant be healed only bandaged or someone could take away the bullet and the wound will heal in a week or two the process can be quicker if using medicine but i dont know any medicine or something which could heal any wound in 30 seconds so i would take the healing system away well but if you want to play doctors than go on use bleeding and bandaging system in the game

Indeed, when you fall from very high, it also does red damage, any fall or shockwave, or things like lighting or gravitational anomalies do red damage, but mostly yellow, bullets do mostly red damage, stabs from a knive do almost only red damage. I think it would be pretty cool like that.

Sorry, but it's still the "game". So for that reason there must be something "unreal" and "gamy" or it wouldn't be playable and not talking about some fun.

If you want it so realistic then "like in real life" you have only 1 life, so.......
No saves (that means that if you are killed you must start the game from the beginning.)

One hit-you are dead (also chest/leg hit will disable you and because there are no doctors or hospital in nearest 30-50 km from the zone , you will bleed to deatho or die because of infection and so on....

there should be then things like tripping, some little pains(that sometimes have all of us), convulsions.......

and other stupid things that cannot be implemented in game, because then it would not be a game but only a boring bad piece of software that no one wants to play.
