Weapon Balance Overhaul - anyone working on one?
Henry? Anyone? We had a fair few rather good overhauls for LA, and then later LA DC 1.2-1.4, but now with the latest version of DC we are back to the, frankly, rather horrible balance of the original, with the dogs that tank 7.62 bullets to the head and people that tank several mp5 bullets to the cranium as well. Please tell me that someone at least has managed to successfully make some changes and is willing to share, since all my attempts to mod the weapon config files ended up with being unable to launch the game, even when all I did was change hit_power per weapon? :/ |

That's a damn shame bro.. honestly, LA, in its current state is just unplayably unfun for me. Been playing Wind of Time with your config and it's night and day.. I realize you can't even do that to SoC as the weapon ballistics and stuff are a bit different but it's still amazing just how much a config can do to increase the enjoyment of a game. Also, Wind of Time is a freaking phenomenal mod, but I really do hope you get around to fixing LA too, cause it's bloody neat as well, just that shooting that completely kills the game for me... |

The responsibility for fixing LA rests entirely with the author and team.
In its current release (v1.4005) it's barely playable and quite unenjoyable.
Instead of encouraging "smart play" the current design is such a downer that it encourages "cheat play" via a range of third party modpacks.
Just yesterday, I had a wiki contrib posting an image while asking for assistance in finding something. When I looked again, he was holstering TWO longarms, had an inventory weight of 337kg and a limit of around 38 Tonnes...
Other recent contribs are trying to enter info found in various versions of "EP" modpacks. (Good luck with that)
I was a HUGE fan of LA - played about 30 games that also had scores of play forks.
I stuck with it for DC v1.4002- maybe 8-10 games with dozens of forks.
I have played one DC v1.4005 game, forked it twenty ways to either work around deficiencies, or just get it over with.
NONE of the "good" endings have worked for me - the game just crashes or kills the actor. All I could get was one crappy super-downer "bad" ending (disappear zone)
I will not be playing another v1.4005 game. It's a dog of uncertain provenance.
Exploiting 1.4007 DC as best as I can. I will NEVER, EVER use a "cheat pack" - a game lives or dies on its gameboard. Best of luck, stalker...

Hey man 
I know I'm probably way optimistic here and you've moved on a long time ago, but just reporting here that 1.0007 is out and that it REALLY, truly fixes fps issues in a major way. It just runs way better - no matter your rig.
They also changed a lot of other debatable decisions, such as that Illuminati story etc. In other words - getting back to LA seems like a great idea, finally.. but yeah, one final piece is missing - your gameplay pack 
Any chance you might give the game (and modding it) another shot anytime soon? |
