Lost Alpha SDK
Dear Members!
Please somebody help me in the following problem.
I want to make a new mod. The SDK I can use was made for Lost Alpha, but I want to make mod for Lost Alpha - Developers Cut, which obviously have a bit different files, than original Lost Alpha.
So the first step would be, to create a level file, that I can load into Level Editor. Original Lost Alpha SDK contains some older levels, so I see, that the converted level folders in SDK contain a *level file (1 Kb) and a folder containing PART files.
I would really appreciate, if anybody could tell me, what to do now, how to get a level file using a Developers Cut level folder in order to make it open in Level Editor?
Thank you! |

---QUOTATION--- Well, I put the bits together and made an up-to-date LA game.
Now, after two maps and not a sign of one, how does one acquire stash messages?
The same way that you ever did. This sounds suspiciously like my first LADC game.
It isn't by searching corpses any more (unless the game is so mean that searching 60 to 80 corpses is necessary before one is given) so where do they come from?
No really. Eventually, something will "come up". You could tweak the Skills Module to improve your odds a bit - but I wouldn't bother - this is sounding suspiciously like an effed-up randomization subroutine in the engine. Don't worry about the stashes bud, they still have the same old crap in them, about the only ones worth having are "Leftovers of a hunt" in AgUnder (2% chance of getting the coords from a Loner or a Mil..) or maybe "Not a storage tank per say" (sic) (10% off Duty or Loners) Even then - it's difficult fitting a scope onto an AK74.
Forget about getting stashes on Forest or Countryside. There are STILL no condition lists for them. Ditto PripUnder. The foci for the stashes remain though, detailed here
lost-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Category hantom_Stashes
Also, are flesh the only mutants that have parts? They're the only ones I've found so far.
No, they're not. All mutants can cough up a trophy (except pyros). But the same randomization bug looks to be in play. As far as I can determine, these are fixed when the game is set up in "all.sav". The positions of randomly spawned artifacts around the anomalies, which beasts have a part, and so on. Unfortunately, it seems that a given group or herd gets the green light so that the whole herd ponies up a trophy.
This can be incredibly frustrating if you're looking for (say) a Snork Boot. I went through 23 snorks in my first game before seeing one. The spawn prob for an SB is still 0.2 so you can infer that the prob that 23 snorks come up empty is 0.8 exp23. Not very realistic or reasonable.
If you DO get the lucky break of having the flock of poltergeists ALL coughing up a brain - and that has happened to me TWICE now (0.2 exp7 is also unrealistic...) - KEEP THEM. Use your first Skill Point in Barter, and trade them back and forth with Sid to build your coffers up.
And what is with the miniature artifacts? Did somebody wash the .ltx file in water too hot and they've all shrunk?
Yeeeaaahh.. The anomalies are a bit harder to see as well; many arts are borderline invisible; get trapped inside anomalies; get picked up by passing NPCs, and so on. It's supposed to add to the challenge of the game.
On the plus side - most of the anomalies are scripted to spawn the 'rarer' artifacts if you can kill a mutant in it. Read more here:
http://lost-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Artifact_Spawns
Unfortunately, the arts that really HELP, have astonishingly low spawn probabilities or just bo**ixed algorithms. You will discover this to be true as you wander the Zone and notice the dearth of Batteries, Springs, Cakes and other useful stuff.
Where can I find an explanation of the new rules and features, for instance on how the 'skill' business works? The list of changes doesn't really carry much information that is useful for gameplay, and much of it could be in Japanese and I'd still understand it as much.
Ask the main man himself, perhaps. As far as the Skills Module goes I did partially u/d the wikia entry:
http://lost-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Xray_PDA_Skills_module
Look for a little spanner in your PDA window. Each "skill point" seems to tweak your chosen ability by 10%.
There is no new handbook to go with DC. The manuals relate to v1.30013 at best since when many of the artifact parameters have been messed with.
---END QUOTATION---
I would see the lack of a manual as being a major dropoff. Apart from the incompleteness of the release itself, its lack of stability and its general bugginess.
I have played half a dozen LADC 'games' with twenty or thirty 'forks' and have been waiting for a bugfix for what seems like eternity.
This game has been 9 years in development.
LA was more complete at v1.3003 than this is.
Since just 15/5/2017 I have a logfile folder with 417 entries occupying 41Mb.
Enough. I'm having more fun picking up on an old game of Alien Crossfire.
Exploiting 1.4007 DC as best as I can. I will NEVER, EVER use a "cheat pack" - a game lives or dies on its gameboard. Best of luck, stalker...

---QUOTATION--- I apparently upset the military at the bridge. Every time I went past - not close - their 'Dragunov' sniper took a couple of potshots at me. I got mildly fed up with that so sneaked up and shot him. Noticing that his buddies below the bridge hadn't reacted, and one of them was dead already (not guilty) I decided their ammo would be more useful to me, so I shot them.
From those five corpses I got four stash messages! Like buses, huh? None for hours, then four in a row. One of them was the fuel tank of the derailed loco. The marker is there, but no matter how I crouch, twist and turn, there is no way into it. When you hover the cursor over a stash you get an on-screen message about accessing it - not with this one, and one other I got later in Garbage.
If that's the loco to the east of the bridge you just walk up to the east side of it. Can't remember what's in it, probably a sausage and a harmonica..
http://lost-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Stash_in_the_fuel_tank
No great matter - unless such become the majority.
Now I'm stuck with something you got past many moons ago, but I just can't find it - the key to Strelok's stash in Agroprom Underground. Any clues?
Go in through the "cellar entrance" next to the road (the one that's all rubbled up in SoC)
Keep going down - a new section has been added - and keep going down..
Look in a ventilator shaft.

Watch out for Mils following you as far as the hideout.
