Guys,
Is there a mini mod or global mod that that utilizes helmets that are required for a suit to have a hud texture displayed?
Essentially remove said helemet with say a seva suit and the hud disappears from view.
Thanks
B

Hi bamah, I did something like that myself a couple of years ago, because I didn't want a HUD overlay to show up all the time when you got a specific suit on but only when you wear the suit's helmet. Plus, features like nightvision were only enabled when wearing the helmet as well.

My mini mod worked well, however my problem was how to attach and detach the helmet on/from the suit. I wrote a script where you could do that by keypress but I would have liked a function in the inventory which I didn't found, so I abandoned that mod.

Maybe there's somebody else who implemented such with better success?

Could you create a helmet that attached like an artefact? This way the player might "equip" the item and still have its effects without having to resort to a key press? I'm actually surprised more mods do not use the artefact belt for more than artefacts

Yes, you can. OGSE does this with a gas mask item. Belt slots are pretty annoying to work with from a script perspective though, which is necessary if you want to put on HUD overlays at the appropriate time or prevent the player running around with 5 helmets on. But it's certainly possible to do.

Yeah...artifact type on belt is the way to go, along with an inventory script just like in OGSE. I was just interested in helmet meshes for the various models.
I'm working on a mod for helmets now.
Meltac...stop looking at threads and release your shaders...
Could I see your main_menu.script and dynamic hud script for keypress removal of huds.
What I have is now like in old ABC 1.4 beta using a wrench instead of the abc repair kit to remove huds/helmets, but I have huge dynamic huds script because of needing suits to use certain weapons, carry certain weapons and zombied stalker stuff is radioactive, repair artifact, gasmasks, radioactive weapons...all work just need to add helmets.
