Unfortunately we will not change the voting system, but we are reading all
stories and we will know what story is the best.

Subject: any change?

hi
I know this mail probably will not get replied (since when does a website moderator reply anything other then problems regarding the website), but then, just wish to ask about the voting system, since GSC did know about the flaw, and will there be any change.
And oh, Merry Christmas, though I don't know if Ukrainians celebrate Christmas or if this is too early for the people of GSC.
Thank you!
---END QUOTATION---

I don't know what to say when I had this mail in my account. Aghast, shocked, bemused. Use any terms you want. *sigh* I am disappointed, sice I was anticipating a major change in the voting system. But At least we still know that the Devs are reading the story are chosing them from the best. Ang hopefully, they have change their mind during Christmas.

P.S - Pls, nothing to personal when you comment on this.

Don't panic just yet.
Now I might be getting a bit too hopeful, but this could just mean that they are not going to bother changing the web based voting. It would be a bit of a waste to do so since there are only 3 weeks (if that) till the deadline for entries.

I think what they're saying is:
"You all vote on what you think is best. Then we'll pick the winners ourselves (but we may well take your votes into account as well)."

Then again, I might be wrong. Human beings have a hard enough time communication when face to face, never mind over a forum.

Yes, this seems most likely. A complete rehaul of the voting system would be arguably superflous at this point, GSC stated that voting will continue to March ( even though they know the system itself to be flawed ) no doubt because they wish to keep interest in Stalker up as close as possible to the release date - hence in the end they will decide which stories win, but in the meantime that doesn't make the competition any less useful as a P.R tool.

About the best compromise we could realistically expect, I think.

This is what I've been telling you... They won't actually change the voting system, more like they will discard it. However, this seems to pose another problem. Since GSC is reading all the stories, they will most likely find a story that's great but isn't in the top ten, and since these stories that aren't in the top ten will most likely win, what will happen to the top ten stories? I can imagine the top ten authors complaining about not winning even though they are in the top ten (according to the website floawed voting system".

Why is everyone sooooo surprised? My sister and I sent our stories in a long long
time ago and have not even received a reply letting us know they have received
them. They have not showed up on the website either so we do not even know
if they have even received them. We spent a lot of time writing the stories and
Think that GSC is doing us wrong by ignoring us.

Wow... Maybe you should send it again instead of complaining so much? Maybe they didn't receive it? Send it once more.

Thanks for the Reply Claws. After sending the stories in I e-mailed
GSC 2 weeks later asking if they recieved the stories but never recieved an reply.
Do you know who I should e-mail?
I e-mailed the stories to stalker@gsc-game.kiev.ua, that was the e-mail
that was listed in the contest Conditions on the STALKER website.

Thank you again.

Jeeeez, johnadaniels, I'll tell you straight to the face, and I will tell you honest. If I am a folk from GSC, those who are pestering me would be the last to be serve by me. Can't you be a little patient here? EVERYONE HERE WAITED AS LONG AS YOU DID DURING THE JULY-OCTOBER RIFT!
