I think it's because people are lazy. Plane & simple.
Still, some of the 'older' stories have quite a few comments (especially the controversial ones). I dunno how long your story has been posted, maybe you should give it some more time.
Another option is to take initiative and start asking people to rate & comment your story. As we say in Holland: You have a no, you can get a yes. (well, that lost something in the translation, but you ge the idea).
One compliment though, you're the first I've seen who asks for comments instead of just ratings. Nice to see someone care about the quality of his story, instead of recognition.
Anyway, I'll read your story, you made me curious.

Goodspeed, you are not dead yet!
Hey Goodspeed, I thought a jet engine hit your head! Too busy with your work, eh? I was waiting for 5 weeks for your comments! But then, never mind. The story is posted already, along with the sequel. Thanks to your helpful comment, man.

Yo Amoki,
Glad to see you're still among the living too! And, to quote Granny Weatherwax: 'I aten't dead!'
I was backpacking in Cambodia & Vietnam 4 4 weeks, so you understand it a bit difficult to check out how things are going here. And the last week was pretty much living hell at work. I don't know if you've heard, but they sold the KLM out to Air France (*&@#$!%&!!!)
Didn't I comment your story? Shame on me. I'll look into your posted story asap.
Toodles,

---QUOTATION--- Story Comments
Um, why is it that there aren't very many comments on some of these stories. For example, my story Kill or Be Killed has been rated 9 times but no one has posted any comments. It's nice to know why someone likes or dislikes a story. Even a "You're story sucks" is better than an emotionless rating.
Anyone else have problems with this?
As Goodspeed said, it's very easy to click a number compared to writing an analysis of what you did and didn't like about the story. I think some people believe that if they read 'the entire thing' and then rate it they've done you enough of a 'favour', the comments section only gets extensivly used if people feel strongly about something that was mentioned in the story - witness the massive response when 'The Loss of Innocence' said that Darwinism disproved the notion of God ( admitedly most of it was spam, but there were some comments in there ).
I'm always grateful for comments, without them I wouldn't know that some folk thought what was currently up of 'The difference....' was actually the entire thing, got me spurned on to finishing parts 3 and 4 in a hurry I can tell you.
Not much you can do really, just remind people in the comments section that you appreciate any input and hope for the best. :- ---END QUOTATION---
I am doing something that you guys soon will know, and I happen to come across this message... LOL. How long ago was that when Ian C says " got me spurned on to finishing part 3 and 4 in a hurry I can tell you." ?

Cambodia and Vietnam? Wow, I would absolutely love to visit those places. What were your impressions there goodspeed? Did you visit any Vietnam war landmarks or Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City?
Love to the cool and the genuine people, the last real diplomats on earth.
