Some sort of shader issue?

First of all, I apologise for not posting this in the LA section, but I have a feeling I'll only get chewed out over there for this.
I've been messing around with wrangling LA's maps into SoC for a few days and I've made massive progress recently, apart from 2 things.
I'm seeing these weird blocks around some shadows. It's actually pretty rare, but they're horrible to look at.
Here in the Swamp map

And here it is at it's worse during an early test with horrible lighting

The other issue is that some terrain won't render properly.

My usual trick of importing the terrain maps and generating .thm files hasn't worked here. Is this another shader issue? Can I fix these things by messing around with my shaders or is it a case of having to rebuild the levels with more vanilla-ish shaders?
