Once upon a time a great bombshell...
stalker website getting quiet? No more contest entry to be submitted and waiting to be posted? Looks like it is all's quiet in the western front. Or not Now here's a great bombshell.
GSC still receives story, although unofficially.
MY story was accepted yesterday, since I received no rebuff from Atem. Well, actually he actually sent me an email telling me thanks for telling him my suggestions about the change of the contest (actually, I sent him two emails- one for my contest entry, one for my suggestion. I knew Atem's habit of replying any mail concerning suggestion or anything useful about the contest OR anything about the contest at all, so if he sent me the mail with the thanks, he must had opened both mails.) call me shrewd but I got my comfirmation.
However, I have a gut feeling the contest system will have its facelift by next week or the week after, which is GSC's final voting period as they say. (I post that email atem sent to me a month ago, if you guys take notice). For those who wants to send in incomplete stories, hurry to finish it, or else it would be too late. This may be music to IAn_C, since his days to type an additional 3 pages isn;t that wasted
But even so, don't explot this chance by sending in hordes of stories that atem decided enough is enough and terminated any mroe accpetance. Better yet, so what I did. Help him help you
1) convert your finished work (no ammendments anymore!) to webpage format using Word, into htm format (or html, whatsoever). This is for your 'download' section.
2) transfer your work using cut and paste into notepad (from word, in paragraph). Every paragraph should be spaced with "enter", just like what I do in this post. This is ASCII format, normally what webpage designer use. (In short, what GSC use to post your story). It may not need to be tabbed, but even if it is tabbled, it doesn't really matter much. This can make atem's job so much easier, because he can directly work from there instead of having to cut-and-paste from your work and press down and enter all the time. Oh, for those who don't know what this means, wait till you do so.
3) Find out the extract you want in your story, that particular section you want to appear in your story. Put them in your email or another txt. file, but make sure it is inside the story ( not a problem to me, since I have a habit of writing introduction for my story ) He don't have to read through your story and find out an extract that isn't what you want.
When you send, send atem your work, the htm file and the txt. files. Label your email with your story title and emphasis on that in your mail, or else if would end up with some funny name like "Better late than never" of "Stalker comp".
I can't really ensure the stories will be accepted, but making the job easier can really entice the moderator to accept the stories. Good luck!

We fight our countrys battles In the air', on land, and sea.
First to fight for right and freedom , And to keep our honor clean,
We are proud to claim the title Of United States Marines.
Our flags unfurl'd to every breeze From dawn to setting sun';
We have fought in every clime and place Where we could take a gun.
In the snow of far-off northern lands And in sunny tropic scenes,
You will find us always on the job - The United States Marines.
Here's health to you and to our Corps Which we are proud to serve;
In many a strife we've fought for life And never lost our nerve.

They will find the streets are guarded By United States Marines. - US Marines Hymn

My story is waiting to be written, but I am not sure it can be completed in one weekend.

---QUOTATION--- My maths, on display for the world:
Atem said that the final stage will be entered into on April 26. He then said that the final stage will last for 30 days, today (the 26th of May) is 30 days past the date Atem stated.
I've done some further maths, so rough that I won't state them here. But anyway, based off an estimate of how long it would take to include the winning stories into the game, I believe that if the contest does not end now that the game is definitely going to be delayed. ---END QUOTATION---
Unfortunately, it turned out that luck is not on your side I was pretty much waiting for my Part 5 and Part 6 to be posted soon enough. I shall submit a mail to atem, let see what he has to say.
Don't take yourself too hard There was a time when me and Ian_C met at this forum at July 2003, that we were hoping for the updates to come EVERY week. I will say something like "It is going to be monday! Monday is the start of the week!" Or "It is going to be friday! Friday is the end of the week!" to myself, and rush to a computer with internet to visit the website... and was shot down by triple-A even before I reached cloud nine. So months dragged on, and it was until like October before my post came out... Better count yourself lucky!
