What do you think of the literary contest judging system?

Okay, this is an important thread. Any comment given will be directly considered by the developers soon. I'm not kidding. That is why I need you all immediate attention. All your opinions WILL BE read by the developers.

I cannot hint too much, but a major change may be underway currently that might as well change the way the contest's top 10 winners. (Note the word may).

I know most of you have been in the contest for years, and I know you all have been pretty frustrated by the way the devs has been quiet all this while. However, you just have to trust me this time that your opinions will be read by the STALKER developers.

The more posts, the better.

I don't believe the websites top 10 voting is 100% wrong and indespensible. True it has been ruined by a small (or possibly large) frew, but when you get through the garbage there is some good stuff in it.

But it would be better if a GSC hired panel of judges (or GSC themselves) read the stories, and chose things that way.

Agreed that i dont think the website top 10 is completely wrong, I cannot believe though that a community based voting system would ever work to satisfaction. Id much rather see that an independent jury (GSC themselves or not) to read/vote and decide on the stories.

There are too much work put into this competition to let it go down like this. And personally, I think fanfiction can become one of the biggest features of the upcoming Stalker community so GSC would be wise to care for their future authors.

No offense Amoki but you've said 'may and pointed out that you said 'may' so basically something might happen or it might not in which case this thread, your email, (which got me here) has been exactly the same as the last 3 years of waiting.

If I was you just shut down the current contest as it died both in peoples interest and in functional voting many years ago. Then take a collection on new stories have a very limited time frame (say a few months) for handing them in.

Finally sit on the stories, and DO NOT let the authors vote on them, give them to the dev team to read and judge and then they can pick a winner.

That's it, then you've started and completed a contest without any problems and at the pace of the dev team, plus none of the previous problems will hang over the contest.

That's just my opinion though, it's your call of course.

I think the literary contest has been a joke since day 1. It's my opinion that GSC never expected the response it received, and was ill equipped to deal with it. Amoki deserves more credit than anyone else for trying to keep the wheels of progress turning.

That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it...

I think having a panel of judges decide the winning stories is the way to go. I would really prefer if GSC did it, but really, as long as it's judged in that way (with designated judges), I'm happy.

And the possibility of being able to re-edit my story before the judging is nice; the comments I've gotten from people have let me look at my story with a more critical eye.

The most fair and effective way of filtering the best stories would be to have GSC decide themselves. I doubt anybody will question their choices.
