Yeah, I'm using 1.6 from since 2008.
I get the e_parent error sometimes (not for the "inventory drop item" error that I described, as it happens in vanilla too IIRC), but usually a reloading makes it OK.

I remember a time when I had this error and could duplicate it by reloading and running to approximately the same coordinates in the map and the game would CTD again. I knew it was NPC related.
I came to think that it was AMK Loot feature that was buggy but in the end it wasn't.
I think the problem was AI MOD related but I can't remember exactly what I did to fix/workaround it at the time.

But yes, I get this error from time to time, quite rarely, but fixing it for good is something I'd like, of course

That's what I'm working on right now with ZRP r5EE.
On the Rulix AI;
Try not using the early reload functions. If an npc is killed while reloading you'll get an e_parent ctd. Not using reloading will mitigate it somewhat.
It has to do with parent ownership. I'm thinking the npc loosing the weapon on death is this particular e_parent ctd. I'm using weapon no toss, which helps. The rx_wmgr.script I believe is the culprit with patch 1.0006 only. I don't have the ownership ctd in 1.0005. I made some changes that I'm now testing in rx_wmgr.script.
Does this maybe sound similar to your ctds?

Yep

I use the no toss weapon mod too.
But depending on the NPC stance and the type of hit (grenade maybe), sometimes the weapon can't be put back in the NPC inventory and it may cause the crash.
