Porting artifacts to SHOC from CS

Okay, I'm curious. There aren't any tutorials on this, so...how do I port artifacts, or rather their models and textures, from CS to SHOC? Obviously there are the ogf files, the .dds files, the .ltx files. But, what other files? Do I need to mess with anything like the particles.xr file?

Incorrect, CS and CoP artifact invisibility has nothing to do with the mesh.


A while back I had some converted CS artifact meshes compatible with SoC, sadly I've lost the files since then. Try contacting Gosuke, he knows his way around stalker meshes.

Particles are fine, since particles aren't bound to a mesh, they are assigned to it afterwards, the only artifact particle relevant in SoC is the 'idle' one (the one you see around the artifact or such when it's on the ground).

That from particle bound to mesh i know, (particle expert) i have a mod based upon that idea, but what i thought was --> if u drop artifac then was transparent or something thats why i thought it was mesh. :d wrong sadly

I was going to do this once also, somone gave me the files from CS that work, but I ever ended up trying them out yet and I can't remember who it who either.

Here is the archives they game me, I don't know which is which or what the diff is, so, let me know if it works:

May be JakeyB, haven't seen him here for a while though, he was the one who converted the CS artifacts for me.

One of those downloads, the CSartifacts one, seems to be the one that requires the least merging. Just a copy and paste job. I say this because the other, artifacts, appears to have artifacts not currently present in SHOC, such as 'Ice' and 'Compass.' However, that said, it's got my interest sparked, because a few extra artifacts might be good (I might be exluding the transmutations from my personal mod, so...).

Do I go about incorporating those new artifacts like I would a weapon? Add it into some of the death_xxx files (obviously not death_generic.ltx)? I know I'd add it into artefacts.ltx and the relevant icons into the icon_equipment.dds (and part of this is a copy and paste job, getting the files from the download into my mod). Anything else?

You should also create all.spawn entries for the new artifacts, or replace existing ones, also I'm not sure if this line in the anomaly ltx's is in use but you could try messing with it:

While I have this topic going...what about doing something like that AMK Soljanka mod, and having artifacts automatically give you radiation for holding them?

I'm also thinking of a sort of briefcase (heavy, albeit) that allows you to put some of these artifacts in to shield you from the radiation. But...that's scripting, and I'd have no idea how to do that at all, yet alone well. Although...maybe something along the line's of Thunderfreak's magazine mod, but that uses particular artifacts instead of ammo, and...I dunno...
