Movies vs Real focus of the game

Well mabe I'm asking about something well known but I have spent some time (a few days) wondering here and can't really get this.... From one side everything about the game - the stories written by people, the articles, the inspirations of the crew (Tarkowski, Strigaccy and so on) is giving an impression of trully STORY TELLNG game with a huge amount of CLIMATE, PLOT, MYSTERY. Going somevhere and discovering a plot about something verid happening in a lost facility... prowling, being scared, talking with NPCs, evolving its own hero in a rpg style... I've got really excited! Mabe after an old System Shock ONE there will be again something for "adult" players? Trying to tell the good story not just to cover, "jumping and shooting everithing", with it. On the other side when I have seen the movies.... well... runing, runing tatata!!! tatatata!!!! Shooting like in any game of Quake gender.... What is wrong here? I am losing something? What do you think about this? We are talking here about the realistic modeling of snipers but what it gives to the player when it all comes to running and shooting?

Well in my opionion it's pretty obvious that the game is still in a big process of development. The engine is almost completed but that doesn't mean that the actual game or level-design is done. Especially the story-line doesn't have to be completed in this stage. And I think it isn't, so that's why they literally can't show storyline in the movies, cuz the only thing that's done is the engine plus some of the levels I guess.

Thanks guys. You got me less woried. It was quite an important question as I was waiting many times for games which showed at the end nothing more than shooters. Keep that line of working GSC!!! I thing there is something in it that "Alien" 1 and Bladeruner are claimed one of the best SF movies ever (instead of "demolation man" for ex ). It is all about the story and mystery.
good luck
ps. no I was'n judging the game I was just bewildered

Like they said, think more along the lines of Fallout or something similar. Where there will be a story line, one with multiple paths by the looks. Yes there would be a lot of shooting and the likes, but also a lot of RPG style interactions, getting and completing missions that might not be directly related to the story line, even going

They are right, all that would of seemed boring in the movie, well I would of liked to see two stalkers facing it off, lowering thier weapons and starting to talk so I could see how mouth moving and the likes would of looked... but I am picky and the movie blew me away anyways.

Sure. I would like to see some examples of dialogues used in the game. To write a good dialogue is very difficult and not many script writers can do it so well that it impress you - when it more makes the personality of the chracter than explains what is just happening on the screen or what is your goal or when he/she for example says "no" and it actually means "yes" If you know what I mean.
And its is far more rare as concerning games unfortunately.
I remember logs from the first System Shock - they were like that. When for egzample you get the first greetings from Shodan: "Please welcome on the station Citadel...the first level - labolatories, the second level - residentials, the third level -.... have a nice time on the station... until I KILL you!"
