Fun Topic - The Cliches that umbush the Zone's fanfic writer, when he distracts

LEt's make a fun topic, in the middle of all this stories submission.
Just to be sure we're not taking ourselves too seriously

I came across a nice webpage some time ago where a 100 cliches that are in the rpgs today were listed just to crack a smile.
Cliches are nasty, sometimes they fall inside a story, sometimes people uses them on purpose to provoke them and so trying to break them by using them, not by avoiding them.
Or sometimes stories that are based on cliches sells well, cause people need some reckognizable stuff they have an affection for, as well as a single clichè that falls ina s tory can kill it instantly.
Cliches, cliches, an enciclopedia can be written on them, and talking about cliches is a clichè too.

BUt enough:

What are the cliches about the Zone? LEt's shoot.
.

- The government is building bombs inside the Zone.
- In the Zone, the stalker is a man depressed that passes his days in a rougue style life paying attention to the fact that he has just a few bullet left.
- Stalkers are always thinking that the time has stopped inside the zone.
-IT starts raining in the same minute he is seated and is reviewing his desperate situation
- Your rifle was owned by your family since ages

umm what else

-No civillian interacts with the zone inside or outside, only "cool ass dudes" appreciate to populate it or the entire sourroundings
-People menaged to survive days inside it, but can't exit the zone
-The hero of the story alone survives always when attacked in mass by creatures
-THe hero of the story can't take it and suicide himself
-The stalker is a philosopher
-The Zone seems to be in the united states instead of Ukraine
-Stalkers are always afraid.Stlakers are never afraid.

come on add

Wow. That's a lot of stuff. Glad I did not do as many in mine.

Sorry, no new cliches yet.

P.S. The hero living is not always a cliche. Sometimes it happens rarely. Read the stories in the site, if you have not yet.

1) MP5 is widely available around the world. (It's not - HK controls its sales, only MP5K is sold to civilians - and that is not the MP5 you want to use)

2) Radiation causes mutation of those lifeforms in the Zone. The "mutants" of the Zone are almost certainly engineered genetically.

3) Stalkers can run while shooting: that is dang near impossible unless you're Neo.

4) People always die when they take a bullet or two: not quite, depends really. The only 2 "instant deaths" are your head and your heart, but even so they are not really that "instant". People die from being shot at due to massive blood lost. Having said that, a downed stalker can still pop a few shots before he passes out i.e dies.

5) Bullet proof vests cannot stop AK-ammunition.- Damn Counter-strike! While "Pure" Kevlar vests cannot stop a 7.62 round, with a couple of well-placed ceramic plates you can stop a 7.62 - one of the most popular ammunition type . Ceramics are very tough stuff, albeit brittle. (I had to take Material Science this year ).

Not quite sure about the M82 Barretts, but you'll not be seeing 0.50 BMG in the Zone.

6) Headshots are easy to do. Not quite. People who have played Raven Shield would have known how vital it is to gain "first strike" to neutralise your opponent before he neutralise you, but even Raven shield still has lots of reality to cover. At medium to long range, the torso is more noticeable than the head, so that's what you'll be aiming at in combat situation. Also, bullets travels in an arch-like trajectory, so at medium to long range and it's affected by the wind.

Use double tap instead.

7) Alcohol consumption in The Zone. Everyone seems to have this liking of his character being a unstoppable drinker. Anyone have any idea how bitter vodka is? (just had my first Smirnoff last friday ).

I was too fast in writing that one: i mean, he survives always when lot of ferocious creatures jump to him - not that i saw this one - just it could be a rambo-like clichè

Actually, vodka is not that hard when you get the hang of it. But some people do overdo it.

Phew, glad I avoided a few of those cliches.
