Create one folder called
Extracted
And run the particle extractor. It will create folders with all particles from 1 particle.xr in it for you. Place all those folders in the new folder you've created.
Now take the file you want to merge ON TOP (order is very important) of the existing particles and unpack it. (For instance, I want to merge PPx with LURK: Unpack lurk, into folder; Unpack PPx, copy paste on top of lurk folders and pack it up again)
So, like I said above, copy paste the desired particles you've extracted into the 'extracted' folder, overwrite and then copy/paste them to the root of the particle tool again. Now delete the 'extracted' folder because you dont want doubles and run the packer.
Now you're done. Do mind, I secured every release of PPx so If you're trying to unpack them you'll be left with blanks
