Hey, I'm on my first visit to Darkscape, the mission where you have to escape by car (also my first LA driving sequence) after you stole some Monolith documents in Dark Valley. Up to this moment I enjoyed a decent framerate ranging from 30 to 60-70+ fps but the moment I drove into Farscape, I mean Darkscape, my fps dropped to 10. Is this a common issue or just my luck? Any workaround?

think it is more of a memory issue. when my fps starts to drop bad i just do a save and then kill the game and then restart it and reload that save. and then my fps will be back up top once again.

Yep I do the same, the DX10 render has a serious performance bug somewhere.
The only time when I noticed slowdowns is in Dark Valley, when the night comes and the stalkers (namely Oleg) in the barn put on their flashlights. That seems to really slow down my game if I keep Oleg's flashlight beam in my viewpoint, works just fine if I turn my back to it. Then again, I never play more than 20 minutes or so without restarting the game because I always restart my game if I need to re-load for any reason (death, etc). Call me crazy but I got used to do this since playing >300 hours game time Oblivion characters.
It was some kind of bug, I tried changing the renderer from dx10 to dx9, then static lighting and it would always give me 10fps in Darkscape, even when put on "minimum". Only after re-starting for the third or fourth time from a previous save in Dark Valley the fps would go back to "normal".
But now I have another problem: the graphic settings don't "stick" since I switched to dx9. When I select dx10, hit save, exit to Windows and then load the game I'm obviously still on dx9 even if it says dx10 in the settings. Is there a way to fix this in the config file?

delete the user.itx file and the game will make a new one (will have to reset all your controls and graphics)
