Yes, I can confirm that. You will be part of the "Stalker" faction again when:
- you exit Dark Valley, put a different suit on (including upgraded Bandit suit, this is fixed in the third patch) and re-enter it as such; don't do this
- you get the documents from the bandits after answering Borov's riddle and then take them to the Sin leader (I did this)
- you release the Duty prisoner _before_ taking the documents from the bandits (this puts you back in the Stalker faction immediately, without having to take the bandit documents to the Sin leader); probably not recommended so just follow the second option and release the Duty prisoner _after_ you got the bandit documents from their safe
