Military in Cordon attacks. Is this normal?

Hi all.

I've read through several threads (not nearly all though) and have read some people say you should avoid killing the military and Sin. Well, I managed not to kill Sin, but even though the game reminded me that I could try talking, before I ran into the military at the bridge, they attack me. They wait until I get within 20 feet or so and open up on me, even if I am not holding a weapon. Is that normal? I was hoping to avoid any problems later on (with broken quests) by not attacking, but it seems I have little choice. The up side is I got the weapons after, but with just a pistol and a shotgun it was a hell of a hard fight. How did the military treat you first time?

I think the military at the bridge aren't supposed to let anyone pass?

Last time I tried passing under the bridge, they said (from some distance) to stay away so I didn't insist. It's easy to go around that point, either on the tracks (on the east side of the bridge) or through the tunnel with many anomalies (and then when you open the bunker door on the other side of the tunnel you could go directly through the underground tunnel that starts where Petruha is initially).

Just don't shoot anyone until they shoot at you but if you see enemies ahead, at least make a save first In other spots in Cordon, military people (although still showing as red/enemy) won't shoot at you if you follow their instructions.

I played a bit of the last version of LA and I don't recall if they were enemies or not. Yes, they certainly were not in the mood for talking, despite the game's warning to "talk" to them first. The problem with that strategy is that they waited until I was so close to shoot that I had no chance to get away. Even reloaded three time, same result.

Good to know! I recall the military up north (garbage?) lets me pass, even though they are red (hostile).

I have never tried going to the military base to the south of the Cordon on this game, if it is even possible. Seems like suicide this early in the game. I think it was a mission on SoC.

That's why I said earlier "spots" (plural), I went through their base in my game, they just ask you to stick to the "stay to the road" rule.

Trying not to make Spoilers. Those who have played this part of the game should know what I mean.

I helped Mole survive and followed his instructions. Before taking the next task radioed in by Sid (required task) I wanted to go back to Cordon and get my stuff repaired.

When getting to the transition to Garbage from Agroprom I saw a soldier disappearing through the transition point. When arriving in Garbage he shot at me so I killed him. When arriving in Cordon from Garbage the soldiers at the transition shot at me so I killed them too. First time I've tried taking a break before taking the task Sid tells me to do in Agroprom after finishing Mole's part.

Its hard to describe the bug without giving spoilers, the developers have to know where you are and what you last did when it happened.

CTD's on the other hand are easy, just copying the crash log which I am sure most here know by now

Yes, in Agropom they are specially spawned to patrol the exit after a certain stage in the quest and will shoot on sight. Makes sense, you may have sneaked in but you won't get out that easily I think this is similar to what happens in the vanilla game (I also remember you got some military guards by the exit after you took the briefcase for Sidorovich).

Yes, but get a warning by Sid as soon as you start the escape.

Regarding what I experienced: Those soldiers were NOT those supposed to block the transition point from Agroprom to Garbage. First time I went from Cordon to Garbage I 'accidentally' killed the soldiers there simply for testing something (what I tested had not been changed from 1.30013).

Last time I went from Cordon to Garbage two new soldiers had taken up the patrolling instead of those I killed. My guess is, the soldier I saw going from Agroprom to Garbage and whom I was forced to kill in Garbage was on the way to the Cordon - Garbage transition point.

Maybe he was affected by the dealings in Agroprom, but I still don't understand why the 2 soldiers in Cordon attacked me when I arrived. I had no problem with them earlier regardless which way I was travelling.

Why do you only have a pistol and a shotgun at this point? If you did the main tasks by Sidorovic you should at least have a Viper 5 and enough ammo to take care of those grunts.
