I really wanna see old good night vision like from original games....coz in LA its useless NV or NOT its not even help....

If you don't like the current nightvision Just replace the ppe with one more to your liking. It is as simple as moving a file.

its not really help.
Like example I just replace from shok, and its brighter green general BUT u still cant see anything coz its basically dark. i think this is coz Cromm work with LA and integrated weather style for he do for Atmosfear....well and hi is night always pitch dark (day, morning, evening its great), so dark so even u turn everything to bright u still dont see anything. In original games I like night much more coz they dont kill night vision device

i would like to make night vision usable since right now i have my files tweaked so that the armor all have good night vision aka blue tint. so far at night it is useless and since it should replace the flash light like it has in the other series.

if it can be made to that it can light up the night, or just around you like it should at least cause even the flash light. with the new look to it still isnt the best but at least you can see some what.

but this is the only STALKER game i make an effort to stay inside when it gets dark. cause you cant see jack out side and worst yet when your underground..

I learned that with Oblivion Lost mod, going out at night with that mod is suicide. So better stay put. Makes the game feel more realistic and immersive when you have to plan your raids in the zone by the game daytime. Towards the evening I go into panic having to find a shelter fast

But even in real life, I don't think nightvision allows you to see very well, just close to you and you need a source of low wavelength light (like a special flashlight). Just use the flashlight in Lost Alpha.

My point was if you wanted the original nightvision you just need to copy those same files in place of the one's in LA. They are found in gamedata\anims\nightvision*.ppe. This of course will not make it look like original because as others have stated there are other lighting changes.

It may not be fair - or correct, but I see this as a modders forum and just assume that folks going to the trouble to add/play these specialized aftermarket mods need suggestions rather than detailed instructions.

maybe back in the old day when night vision 1st came to be it was very primitive . but now days we have night vision that can see for a 1k yards like for the sniper to work at night time.

but in game i have it set to Good for all armor night vision which is to be the best in game. so far just in LA it doesnt work out that way. i do have a lot of pic to show what i mean. and yes i have serious mod and tweaks to usr.ltx file which help greatly for the during the day time so i am not running around with night vision and flash light on at all times.

cause you know it is dark when barkeep has his flash light on inside his bar..

Realistic night vision would be hard to do. It has some blur in the distance and the infrared area is, of course, brighter than the surroundings. Outlast does that pretty well. In STALKER I don't think we can hope for something really different from the vanilla light. It seems like it's just a screen effect.

IMHO, night vision should however be useful. But I'm under the impression of that when you use the flashlight AND the night vision, the light is amplified. Not sure about that, it's not dark enough in my current game.

my self i havent mess with the flash light beem, but as for batterys yes i have a bunch of them. the bad thing is. you need to stop to change out a battery and when your at a full run the only thing you want to do is. open your back pack to use a energy drink so you can keep running. cause if you dont that pack of blind dogs with there buddys the psido dogs that there ants the fleashys and uncle the boars will catch you

that is why we have night vision for so we dont have use flash lights, besides not using flash light tends to help you sneak past what ever you dont want to have a shoot out with ya know...

in the other STALKER games i all ways made sure i upgraded my armor to have night vision so that way i wont have to use a flash light at all, would be nice to keep this tactic going though.

i have seen the night be darkr then this at times[no flash light nor night vision on]

true, everyone plays there own way which is fine. i just thought that the night vision work great in the other games but it seem this 1 it doesnt. guess it can be the problem with trying to use dx10/10.1 in a engine that wasnt suppose to have it, i think?

guess ill have to find out where this flash light tweak is at and give it a try, but i do like the narrow beem that we have now. but when out during the late night hrs. it would be nice to be able to see where you are going

since I extracted all the DB files, I don't know which DB file has it, but file that needs to be edited is located here:

config\models\objects\light_night.itx

just change the Spot Angle from 40 to 80 and it will be much better.

I am pretty sure you need to change more than the night vision ppe to make stuff work like people want it to. Oblivion lost mod might be a place to look. I think it has the best nights and stuff or at least it did on a crt monitor. The newer monitors make stuff brighter.

yeah with out having the db file extracted this folder and file wouldnt be there. glad i did though cause i made my own "objects" folder and then copied the light_night ltx file into that folder.

and i to have been messing with it as well , i set that to 80 like you said but i also been messing with this line

only problem i have is that the battery drain a tad faster so i am now trying to adjust that so it doesnt drain so fast lol i think it is because the spot is bigger and i turn it up the brightness. kind of weird for a game to figure out that you adjust something so it naturally adjust power usage up as well...

this is that underground under yantar so i know that would be the darkest to test this out at.

uhm i havent had that heli battle yet.. wonder how come? i didnt join duty so maybe that could be why. and i went down there cause i knew for the time i am at, this place would be the darkest in yantar.

i been messing with it some more, but i just left the angle at 80 but this other setting is what makes it even brighter
glow_radius i got it at 0.9 right now and i like it there.

I put a few alternate ppe's in my timed night scope mod - they can offer some different night vision looks. But won't completely solve overly dark images. That will need tweaking of setting. For dx10 I find adv video options fix posted earlier to be useful. My apologies as I don't recall who created it.

Try replacing the stock nv with CoP's tier 3 one. I think it was abit brighter. All you have to do is paste the ppe file from CoP and rename it to LA's.

I made a NV mod for CoP. You can use ppe's from it. It has many:

Elite Nightvisions


1. There are 3 new and one old nigthvision in this mod. SEVA is equipped with a very nice and clear but kind of dark blue nightvision.To change it to a brighter but a bit more purplish one get the second upgrade for burn immunity, second from top.

2.The SEVA helmet is now equipped with an elite next generation black nightvision. Now it's the helmet to own!

3.The tactical military helmet can now be equipped not only with an IR scanner, but a second generation yellow nightvision to really boost seeing in the dark. By default it has a 3rd gen green one.

as for what outfits? i would say give it to all of them in LA so that way no matter what any and every body will have what you can do in game with the night vision tech.

so far the only thing i have done in the ltx file for each and every armor and upgrade is set them to "good" so i get the light blue tint night vision which you can see in any of my screen shoots i have posted with it on.

well some of them dont come with a nv but in upgrades they will. like the leather/bandit jackets they dont have nv but in upgrades it is the 1st upgrade choice.

but yeah on the 1 that have it the 1st upgrade is the better version of nv so that where i would start to give them the good nv at. so that way it isnt redounded ya know..

cause this is what i get with the good nv on in a very dark area

as you can see it really doesnt do much. but with your version it may make nv worth having, beside during the day time lol but using nv during the day is a waste ya know.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Not all of them will be effective in pitch darkness, I tell you now. I'll have to check and see. I might even have to borrow the best green nv from CoP too.

There was a SoC mod on Gamefront if i remember correctly that had those NVs too. The black one at least, called Elite Nightvision.
It works in pitch black darkness. I may have some screenshot around.

Nope, unfortunately no screenshots of it. But i suppose it's the same as in Kane's screenshot.
Looks alot like the IR/Thermal visions used in Military Aircraft.
