if not bolts, then food. this would really help with stealth, once the other stealth problems are fixed

Yup! And I'd like to be able to pick up items I can normally shoot (Cans, etc) and be able to use 'm like bolts.

On top of that I think it would be a neat feature if you could set traps. (IED's) using cans and barrels of fuel...

I thought that's what bolts were for originally (like coins in other games).

kinda disappointed they weren't, but they do help distinguish between whirlgig's & explosion anomalies at times. (whirlgig's don't explode when bolt hits them, the bolt bounces off)

They're for pathfinding. Read Roadside Picnic and watch Stalker. The anomalies were originally supposed to be dynamic and not easily detected, so you'd have to throw bolts(in the book and movie they were nuts). If the bolt lands safely, you know you have a clear path there. I still do this in some areas, like the Yantar underpass in Rostok and the area after the checkpoint in Garbage.

They were never intended as triggers, because anomalies reset far too quickly to be of any use to do that, or as stealth aids, because with all the noise your suit and equipment make it'd be of no use. Its really nothing more than an easter egg since anomalies are so easily detectable by the naked eye(I'm still waiting for a mod where anomalies are invisible and slowly drift around the map)

Ok, this is a Russian guy, not friggin' MacGyyver. Although a conveniently placed (by a gas tank) tripwire grenade would be really cool.

Also, I dunno if the constant crashing is distracting me but I can't seem to throw grenades or bolts. Just hissy fits when the game freezes.
