Refilling of Magazines

This game has a lot of weapon functions that i recognize from my time in service. Weapon jams, wear & tear, bullet trajectorys, fire modes and add-ons like GL and silencer. But never ever have any game developers thought of that the magazines needs manual refilling which takes time...why not add that if you are going to have everything else in-game. And also, If i reload my weapon with a 30 round mag. and still have bullets in my mag. shouldnt I have 31 bullets after reload. that is 30 rnds in tha mag. and 1 in the chamber. Over and out!

It would be cool if this would be put in the game also would add some more realism to the game

Totally agree with you.
I also read in another post:
why not to make magazines? bigger, smaller, a double one...
maybe it's to much for other people?

off topic though,
I heard the us army put 31, i don't if it's true.

We used to put 29 so the spring of the mag would not damage.
poor army no money for new magazines, ha ha.

To be able to buy tape to attach magazines together (make reload times faster) would be cool

Slightly off topic, but, Bohemia Interactive (I think) did consider the magazine aspect, in Operation Flashpoint, if you reloaded a weapon, with a partial mag, you'd retain the mag, but you'd pull from the full mag if you had one, after that you'd just cycle through your magazines. So if you reloaded every few shots, you'd start loading mags after a were partial.

I know I've seen a game or two that let you load rounds in the pipe, there was a mod for FarCry that did it, it also caused you to loose the entire mag from your ammo pool when you reloaded, (cause jack didn't retain mags apparently.)

But, what would have been neat was if STALKER had included mags as extra items that you had to reload from inventory.

It would have also opened the doors for things like alternate mags, (extended (not just the single fort 12), drums (more ammo, more misfeeds), and the like)

Refilling of Magazines

I agree Refilling of Magazines would be brilliant.

Magazines should be an item you can collect, you can then fill them up with bullets.

It would add so much more to the realism of STALKER and would really make you think about combat survival.
also loading 1 bullet into the chamber then having a full clip is another brilliant realism idea.

Go for it GSC

Agree 100%

It would make one more thing to search for in the zone. That big drum mag for your AK74 in perfect condition would make that gun that much more useful later on.

While I'm for this in a way, since its realistic...

I'd also think it'd get annoying having to prepare more than what I usually do:
1) Reload Rifle
2) Reload Secondary
3) Reload Rifle Grenade
4) Check if full health

Having to refill all expelled magazines will take quite some time

THAT SAID, I think this sort of realism should be placed on Master difficulty since that mode is the most realistic (in terms of gun damage).

BTW the tape for double magazine... AWESOME idea!
Something like that shouldn't increase rounds from 30 to 60 for an AK, but instead make reloading much faster than normal (only for that magazine)

This isn't recommend because its easy to bash the end of the magazine causing a debilitating jam. Thats why any respectable military doesn't do it.

Well as long as you don't fire the last round from your previous magazine, you should be alright. Because that would be automatically fed in the chamber at the firing of your previous round. Unless you forget that you still had one in the pipe and you pull back the action which I have done a couple times.

Also, its common for alot of professionals (elite military, and police forces) to load a fresh magazine into an empty (no magazine, no bullet in the chamber) gun and work the action, which loads one the bullet into the pipe. Then they eject the magazine and load the missing bullet back in. This gives them the edge because they have that extra round in their gun.

Another trick they use its they cock the gun before they holster it because on a double action the trigger pull is shortened when the hammer is already back. A double action (meaning when the trigger is pulled the hammer goes back and the firing pin goes forward, unlike the single-action ONLY pushes the firing pin forward, meaning you have to manually cock it in order to fire.) has a longer trigger pull when the hammer isn't already pulled back, and that split second difference can save your life.
