Add support for older GeForce cards

I've got a GeForce 4600 and even though the game runs fine (performance-wise) on it there are some graphical errors that I find annoying. AKs and doors that are invisible for instance. Since it doesn't happen with all weapon models (but all door models I think) it should be fixable, no? So please do.

the game simply wasnt made for ancient graphics cards, i think it would be a serious pain in the ass to make it fully compatible with a card that old

That's sounds like you are running out of video memory. Have you tried to run the game with lowest texture & model detail?

Well, they got other things to do, but defently signed (one of the proud owner of a 4600 )

Skynet, thanks for the tip, gonna try that right away.
edit: tried to set everything to minimal, didn't help, so we have to hope for a fix from the devs (well they have other things to do, but hope dies last)

AFAIK, this has to do with texture formats. It is fixable, but I right now I do not know if there are plans to fix it.

Well, they should have such plans if they want to get any money from people like me, who have the raw performance to run the game and thus feel it's simply unnecessary to buy a new card. Why get new hardware if the problem can be fixed in the software?

Yeah that is kind of an old card but even newer cards don't work in this game. My Nvidia 7300 is a somewhat older card but no more than a couple years old. Should work fine. GSC blames it on Nvidia but every single other game I own, including ones that use lighting effects works fine. i.e. HL2, Far Cry etc. So I don't believe it is the card's fault or Nvidia's.

Could you try to get a quick statement from the devs?
Just something like "we know about it and its fixed with the next patch"
or a "we will fix that probably in one of the next patches" or a "no we don't plan to fix that issue"

i asking because i have major graphic bugs with the vehicle mod, so for me the bugs not only affects the normal game, it affects also stuff we do with mods. So my wish to get this fixed grown bigger.

Would be great, so i know if i have to wait, or if i have to rob a bank to get money for a new computer

If the devs are working on fixing this I might as well add that the Hind's rotors are bugged on GeForce 4 cards.

So.. The current "to fix"-list is:
-AKs (both the shorty and full size) in 1st (invisible) and 3rd POV (displaced).
-pistols in 3rd POV (warped/distorted)
-some doors (invisible)
-guitars (warped/distorted)
-the rotors of the Hind helicopters (displaced)

I will return the game to the store today (thank [insert deity here] for a generous return policy) but will rebuy it when/if these problems are fixed.
