So without further introductions. here is Chapter - 1

Note: reformated by Amoki

Chapter 1 - Childhood
"So what are you planning to do here in the Zone?" asked a man in the back of a large transport truck's cargo container. The man whom he asked the question to replied "I couldn't find a job in my small town, and I have a wife and four kids to feed. I heard you can make a lot of money out here and decided to do my best and make sure my family is well kept."

One of the men had a American flag on his suit, light brown hair, dark brown eyes and appeared to be 5'7 with a fairly well built body, the other had dark red hair, blue eyes , looked to be 6'1 and as the other man fairly built. The two men continued their conversation as a third man sat in a corner cleaning his Beretta 92FS. The third man's name was Josip Macko, he had olive skin, was 5'11, had gray eyes and snow white hair. At birth Josip was effected by the radiation of the Chernobyl Accident before his parents could afford to move away to Canada. The radiation almost killed Josip while he was a child, had it not been for the move to Canada and getting medical treatment he would have died for sure. However permanent damage to his body took away his dark brown hair leaving him with white hair and a body that could tolerate more pain. His childhood was rough, he always spent time indoors or outside at night making sure no one would socialize with him. From the ages of 4-12 he remained like that, until one day a girl stumbled across him at night while he was sitting on a cliff.

She was a pretty young girl with dark blond hair and colorful blue eyes. She walked up to Josip and started to try and talk with him. "Hello, pleasant night we're having tonight isn't it? I'm Stephanie." as she asked this question Josip just continued to keep watching the clouds move across the moon, not paying any attention to what the young girl had to say. Stephanie sat down next to Josip, looking at him and continued to try and spark a conversation. "That's a nice hair style you got there. How much bleach did it take?" Josip slightly smiled and replied while still looking at the clouds. "My hair isn't bleached. It lost all of it pigments when I was very little." Stephanie delighted that she had gotten him to speak continued asking questions. "Hey, why haven't I seen you around? I'm sure I've seen you in school but you never seem to talk to anyone and only answer questions when asked." Josip replied "I don't have any friends. I don't see any need to leave the house other then for my education." Stephanie had a some what shocked look on her face for a minute then her face lit up with a smile "Oh really? I'm a bit shy to. Since you have no friends do you want to me my friend?" After being asked the question Josip's face looked confused. He never had a friend his whole life. And now he was faced with the chance to change that fact. "s-sure..." Josip answered the question nervously and kept watching the clouds and silently muttered to himself "Its going to rain." Stephanie hearing his mutter looked outwards past the cliff into the sky to see dark clouds heading their way and said to Josip before taking off "Well since its going to rain I better go home! I'll see you here tomorrow night see you!" And just like that she disappeared into the darkness and Josip was left alone once again.

When the rain started to pour down Josip stood up and started to walk home. Half way to his house a few kids who were still out during the rainy night came up to him. "What the hell are you doing on our turf!" "Ya you have no right to be here." Josip not even confirming their existence silently walked past them. However the boys were not going to let him get away and one grabbed him from behind holding his hands behind his back. "Hey! You can't leave punk. Well not until we beat the shit out of you for passing on our turf!". And after stating the last word one of the boys punched Josip straight in the face, knocking his head to the side a bit however having little to no effect on Josip's body. "What? You think your a tough guy? Try being tough after this!" Outraged that Josip didn't grunt in pain after being punched the boy kicked him straight in the balls. Josip feeling a fair bit of pain simply stood still. After taking a bit of a beating the kids got tired of trying to hurt a painless target and one of them pulled out a knife. "Well if pain won't teach you a lesson maybe gutting you will". Josip being fear struck stood still for a moment as the boy prepared to stab him. And just as he started to move his knife to stab him Josip turned to the side making his captor swing in the way of the knife and get stabbed and sliced right from his right side to his spine. The captor fell to the ground, dead. "You little bastard!" Just as soon as the boy pulled the knife out of his dead comrade he ran to charge at Josip with his knife. Josip dodged his stabbing strike and grabbed a wooden stick that was laying on the ground, feeling it tremble in his hands due to the amount of fear going through his body. "Oh no, the little bastard got a stick. I'm so scared." After the boy made the sarcastic remark towards Josip's act of arming himself with a stick he chased after him again only to get himself hit in the face with the stick straight across the cheek, slightly cutting him and knocking him to the ground. Josip seeing a chance to further disable the threat beat down both of his legs repetitively with the stick leaving the boy screaming in pain and without the ability to stand up. The other boys ran away seeing one of their friends dead and the other badly hurt.

Josip, after coming back to reality after the shock of what just happened ran home with tears in his eyes and ignored his parents as he arrived going straight to bed.

Hope you enjoyed It. Hoping to keep chapters updated day by day.

Chapter - 2 Reborn a STALKER

It took Josip a week to get over the shock of the death of one of his attackers and having to fend to keep himself alive but after wards he was hardened and stronger then before. Over the next two months Josip continued to go to the cliff and wait for Stephanie. One day Josip was once again confronted by a new challenge of life that he had never expected to ever be extended to him. "Josip, do you want to be my boyfriend?" Stephanie question made Josip's mind go blank and he answered with a shock look on his face "Why are you asking me?" still being dumbfounded by the question.

"Well, most people after knowing each other for this long usually go out. I was just hoping we could do the same." Stephanie moved close to Josip and held him pressing her head into his chest and whispered "Please." Josip had no choice but to answer "Yes." and continued to let Stephanie cuddle up to him. After that day Stephanie started to visit Josip at his house, which of course he was never expecting and usually was still in his PJs. Stephanie would usually jump at him and kiss his cheek then would wait for him to get dressed and for the first time in his life, she got Josip to interact with people during the day time. Josip however was not to popular with any crowd.

They'd point and laugh and make fun of his hair, the boys would flirt around with Stephanie in front of his eyes, while the girls questioned Stephanie as to why she was hanging out with such an oddball. However with all the distractions Stephanie would usually just cling to Josip's Arm and they be on their way. Their relationship continued for 3 years until Stephanie died of a heart disease. This made Josip go insane, he couldn't sleep, he couldn't eat, and he couldn't think straight.
Heart broken and twisted for another 4 years he finally decided to part from his family.

He hugged his mother and father goodbye. He roamed around the towns of Ontario for weeks, until coming across a ally way and seeing 2 men talking about something. "I hear you can make 3000 roubles for 1 artifact!" "Yes i know, but I hear it is very dangerous there." "True but with a paycheck that big who would care about the risks?". Josip being interested in what the 2 men where talking about Approached them. "Hey, what are you guys talking about." Josip asked. "What? Oh how long have you been eavesdropping on us?" asked one of the men.

"Long enough to know there is a place where i can earn a lot of money. I don't want any trouble just please explain." Josip asked with a serious look on his face. "Pfft. Haven't you heard about Stalkers? They roam Chernobyl and find rare and old items for big company scientists and make a killing." Answered one of the men with a grin on his face.

"You also mentioned dangers? What kind?" Josip asked. "Well rumor has it Mutants roam "The Zone". They are suppose to be evil killing machines that feed on what they kill. Also Stalkers may kill each other for profit as well as the Soviet Special Operations units." Another man answered with a curious look on his face. "Say, are you planning on going there?" The man with the curious face asked. "After hearing this information I'm sure I'll try."

With his crude answer he began to leave when one of the man stopped him and said "Well then you better come with me. The only way to get there is by "Smuggling" yourself into The Zone. I'll bring you to a Smuggler as well as a weapon trader that can give you a decent weapon and some radiation protection." Josip having a odd feeling about the offer asked "Whats in it for you?" The man laughed a little "Ahh, a clever one this one is. I have a Daughter who went to the Zone awhile back.

Shes 21 and I'm sure at this point it was a bad idea to let her go to such a place. If you find her i ask you to just get her back here to Canada." The man had a serious look on his face. Josip agreed to his terms and followed the man past the back ally into a were house. "Jeff! We got a new Stalker ready to head out to the Zone. Get him a Rad suit and a weapon." "Righto Jim." The man named Jeff ran into a room and came back out with a suit that looked badly made and a metal case.

"Alright there laddy, get into this suit and after that I'll give you a introduction to my famous Beretta!" As told Josip got into the rad suit, The suit fit rather well and better then Josip expected it to, the suit was olive green, had a mask on the front of his suit connected to a Oxygen tank on the backside of his waist placed horizontally which read "F" stating that it was full, a standard hood with slight rubber inside of it, rubber boots with what appeared to be a small layer of steel inside of them, a pair of binoculars on his right shoulder which had the ability to look as far as 600 meters away, a lamp on his left shoulder with slight scrapping, a belt with magazine slots and some pockets and a knife near the right wrist with a trigger system set off by 2 flicks of the wrist to eject the knife outwards for easy access and a backpack strapped on.
"Ahh that's a good fit i see. Not many people are lucky enough to fit into the Rad suit as well as you do. As you can see there are several features of the suit which I'm sure will come in handy. The suit should block out most radiation and will more then likely prevent any creature from tearing you to shreds, well maybe for a few minutes or seconds longer then it normally would. Sadly we don't have anything to detect "Anomalies" but," Jeff pointed to a small meter on the left wrist, "This meter will warn you of the radiation you are around. Remember you can handle up to the medium without any trouble but if you stay in an area above it be sure to remain there only for 10-20 minutes. Now as for your weapon that we can supply you with." Jeff pulled out the metal case and opened it up revealing a pistol with 5 magazines.

"This baby is called a Beretta 92FS. It has a standard 15 magazine clip. The rounds are 9mm and can fire up to 50m fairly well. Considering what I've given other Stalkers before they head off to the Zone your very lucky the Jim recommended you get this. Alright I got a spare clip around here," Jeff loaded the Beretta with his spare magazine and fired one shot into a can hanging off a wall with a wire attached. "Well sir why don't you fire off the rest of this clip into that can. Its best you try to master the gun here rather then when your being shot at or attacked by some animal." Josip took the gun from Jeff's hands and answered "Alright." Josip pointed the gun at the can and fired 3 rounds, all of them missing the target.

"No, no son. Use the "Iron Sight" on the can." "The what?" "See that small little point at the end of the barrel? That's known as the Iron Sight. Make sure your target is on the sight and fire 1 shot. As you get more skilled you'll be able to use the sight better and fire more rapidly but for now stick to slowly firing so you get the hand of the Recoil." "Whats a Recoil?" Jeff with a strange look on his face asked "What the? Son have you ever shot a gun before?" "No i haven't." Jeff put his hand over his face and said "Alright son.. you noticed when you fired the gun it pushed back a bit? That's known as recoil." "Ah I see."

Over the next 2 hours Josip kept practicing with the Beretta and at the end of his free bullet count, would be able to rely on his new found skills to defend himself but not much else. "Alright mate, lets go." Josip Followed Jim to a airstrip out in the back of the were house. There was a plane that looked as if it could sit 3 people at the most. "Alright son, listen up. This is how the entire transportation system will go. First you will fly with Greg here over to a town near the border of The Zone. There you will meet a man called Yuri, he will supply you with some food, water and then will transport you from the border into the Zone. After that he will leave, then you will be on your own.

He'll drop you off in a fairly safe location. I also recommend teaming up with any other Stalker in the Zone. They may be able to help you with your missions and help keep you alive. Got it? Good." Jim reached into his pocket and pulled out a picture of a beautiful girl with brown hair, was about 5'8 had dark eyes that looked black and a wonderful smile. "This is my daughter. If you find her remember what you promised me when I gave you all these free stuff and the chance to go to the Zone." Josip took the picture and put it in one of his pockets, then boarded the plane and took off. Beginning his reborn life as a Stalker.

Chapter 3 - Zone and the Fellowship

Chapter 3 - The Zone and The Fellowship
Josip finished cleaning his Beretta and loaded one of his magazines into the loader. One of the men looked at Josip and began to start up a conversation "So there buddy, what brings you here to the Zone?" "I don't know why I came. But I did make a promise to find the daughter of the man who got me here." Josip responded and then the man continued the Conversation. "Well I'm Chris, I'm from America and decided to come here to become rich and powerful the quick way." "And I'm Ivan, from Russia. Pretty sure you heard that I have four kids and a wife to feed." Josip viewing the two introduced himself. "I'm Josip, from Yugoslavia." The 3 talked for the next 1 hour about their lives and families. Soon Yuri yelled to the 3. "Hey! Guys! This is the stop." The truck came to a stop and the rear of the cargo container opened. Chris picked up a Shotgun that was under his seat, from an label on the side of the gun it read "Grand Father". Chris also had a PMM side arm with what seemed to be one clip in the gun and 2 magazines on his waist, also carrying a couple of shells for his shotgun across his chest and some in his belt pockets. His suit was dark gray and as Josip noticed before a American Flag tag on his shoulder. He had 2 oxygen tanks on his back that lead to a mask on his left shoulder where the mask was held until it needed to be used and he had a flashlight attached to his belt, Standard issue rubber boots and rubber gloves.
Ivan on the other hand had a navy styled suit, with a single oxygen tank on the side and a small backpack on the other with the oxygen mask reaching the bottom of his front neck, a Fort 12 pistol, on his right arm from the shoulder down there were magazine pouches that each held 1 magazine each (4 in total), while he had another 2 magazines on his belt and 4 pockets across his belt. His boots as well as the other two were rubber coated and he had a knife on his left shoulder. "Hey, I've been thinking. This place is said to be very dangerous and we all seem to have hit it off as friends. Why not stick together? We've have a much better chance of survival." Ivan suggested. Chris cracked a smile and laughed a bit "Sure why not? Besides more people means bigger missions and bigger missions mean more of a payoff!" Chris shook the hand of his new partner. "Come on you too Josip. Your suit bests both of ours and seems like it might be able to go into more deadlier areas. You could be a great asset to us." Chris stated offering his hand out to Josip. Josip stood there looking at the hand. "You say you want to become rich and powerful the easy way, how do I know that once the payoff is big enough you won't back stab me?" Josip asked the question with a serious glare at Chris "Huh? I might be a shallow person but I don't betray my friends. And I've learned that the value of a good friend far bests any payoff. Because one you can constantly rely on!" Smiling Chris continued to extend his hands. Josip slightly smiling back reached his hand out and shook his hand. "Alright, I'm In."

As Yuri drove off the 3 Stalkers made their way to the "Dealer's Den". Since It was night the 3 couldn't really see where they were headed. "God dang it. Maybe we should camp out until morning." "No. You've heard the stories. If we stay out here during night or even day there is a high risk that we will be shot or eaten during our sleep." Chris shrugged off his displeased feelings and continued on. "You think we could camp out at the Dealer's Den?" "Likely, has been said to offer a one night stay to new stalkers. However they say he gets really pissed after that and would prefer only to see the stalkers after that for missions." Ivan kept reading the map and leading the way. Suddenly a howl that sounded very close was made. "Oh damn. This doesn't look very good." Chris pointed his gun towards some bushes and closed one eye to use his iron sight while Ivan put the map away and cocked his pistol. "Why are you guys arming yourselves? We haven't seen anyth--" Before Josip could finish talking Ivan shut his mouth "We may not see them but they surely see us. The Children of the Wastelands." Josip hearing this pulled out his Beretta and started to scan the area with his eyes. "Keep moving up the path. We should be fairly close to the Dealer's Den. If we're lucky the dogs won't attack before then." Chris grabbed one of his shells and opened it putting a string into the gunpowder within the shell and set it on fire with a match he pulled out of one of his pockets. "Now when I throw this we make a dash for it OK?" 20 seconds pasted, but to the 3 stalkers it felt like forever. "Now!" Chris threw the shell which shortly after landing blew up.

Dog cries could be heard as he 3 stalkers began running past the tree lines into a small open field. "Dang it where is the Dealer's Den!?" Cried Chris as they kept dashing towards the top of the hill. "It should be around here, just keep calm and look closely!" replied Ivan to his panic question. While the 3 were running Josip noticed a small creaking sound as they ran over a grassy area of the field. "Wait, I think I found it!" Josip yelled out to the 2 other stalkers ahead of him. "Where!?" Both stalkers cried out to him. Josip lowered down and brushed some grass to the side to find a trap door. Josip pulled it open and all 3 stalkers went into the tunnel closing the door behind them shortly after hearing dogs run over it howling searching for them. "Good eye Josip. If you had not noticed this we might be fighting those dogs for our lives." Ivan patted his head and laughed as the 3 took a short break before continuing down the tunnel system. Chris reached into one of his pockets and pulled out 3 beef jerkys and offered it to his friends. Now with food in their bodies and closing on the door at the end of a long corridor the stalkers feel ready to deal with anything. As Josip opened the door a shot went off right into the wall beside the door. "HOLY SHIT!" Josip screamed as he fell backwards onto the floor while the other two stalkers charged into the room only to be greeted rudely by the Dealer. "Oh, new stalkers. Sorry about that. I figured you were zombies! I had a controller pass by here earlier."

Starting to stand up Josip put away his weapon and so did everyone else, expect the dealer who kept it sitting on his lap with his finger on the trigger."So your the Dealer?" "Yes that is who I am. Let me guess you guys are new and want to get a Mission and kill something and get paid a lot of rubbles. Yeah, yeah OK I got one for you. There is a Military Outpost to the North West. They are rumored to have a artifact there that can scare off most mutants and I really was hoping of getting my hands on it. So tell you what, you go there and get me that Artifact, I'll give you 2000 roubles. If you just kill the military men there and find nothing, I'll give you 500 roubles. Give me your map and I'll mark the exact location of the outpost." Ivan handed the dealer his map and the dealer put a X on the map. "There ya go, now if you guys need to sleep you should know of my one day treatment. One meal, one pillow and one place to sleep for the night or day depending when you arrive. Consider it my way of celebrating your last day as a man and your new life as a dead one." With this the Dealer gave out 3 pillows and went to the backroom of his small office and started to cook. After about 30 minutes the stalkers each had a bowl of pea soup with some bread and cheap wine as well as 3 water bottles and 3 health bars each. "The water and health bars should keep you alive. It'd be best if you eat only the bare minimum and drank only what you need to stay hydrated. I wouldn't trust the water out in the zone, many parasites and creatures could lurk in every drop." The dealer then shut his iron bars of his office shut and went into another room saying Goodnight to the Stalkers.

Several hours pass while the Stalkers are sleeping and only to be rudely awoken "Alright you bastards, get up and get out until you got me my artifact!" "But we don't even know what it looks like. Can you give us an Idea?" "Sure I can, It will be the item that all the guards are around." The dealer sarcastically answered the question and pulled out his shotgun. "Now get, unless you want to pay for some info or new items and weapons!". And with that the Stalkers set out on their first mission.
